Chapter 56 - 55: Taking Over the Spirit Chicken Garden
Chapter 56: Chapter 55: Taking Over the Spirit Chicken Garden
Yu Changsheng watched as the Cyan Flower Deer trotted up to him and imperiously bobbed its head.
He remembered Elder Wei’s reminder and hurriedly nodded in return.
The Cyan Flower Deer then opened its mouth, obediently waiting to be fed.
If he hadn’t nodded back, Yu Changsheng had no doubt that its mouth would have been biting him instead.
MUNCH MUNCH!
As he fed the prepared leaves into its mouth, a chewing sound arose. The deer’s pair of large, beautiful eyes observed him the entire time.
The Cyan Flower Deer then mischievously bobbed its head at him again.
Yu Changsheng didn’t dare hesitate and hurriedly nodded back.
Seeing how proper this newcomer was, the Cyan Flower Deer immediately lost interest.
[You have successfully fed one Cyan Flower Deer. Consumed: Sunflower Leaves x30. Reward: 50 Essence Points.]
The reward stunned Yu Changsheng. 50 points!
So much for just feeding it some Sunflower Leaves! That was comparable to a Qi Enhancement Pill!
’Incredible,’ Yu Changsheng thought, his face filled with glee as he stared at the Cyan Flower Deer.
The Cyan Flower Deer seemed unsettled by his gaze. It immediately turned, returned to the lawn, and lay down, giving him no opportunity to touch it.
"Not bad. You’ve already got the knack for it."
Nearby, Elder Wei smiled appreciatively. "Cyan Flower Deer have a peculiar temper. Having to return their nod is one thing, but if one doesn’t take a liking to you, it’ll just lift a hoof and kick you."
"But since you’ve passed this trial, I’m sure the other Spirit Beasts won’t be a problem for you."
Hearing this, Yu Changsheng shuddered inwardly. "The Cyan Flower Deer kicks people?"
’This is a Tier One Eighth Layer Spirit Beast! If it kicked me at close range, wouldn’t I be severely injured and knocked to the ground?’
Elder Wei looked at him and smiled. "I didn’t remind you because I wanted to test you. With me here, what’s there to be afraid of?"
"Alright, on to the next Spirit Beast."
Yu Changsheng followed Elder Wei, feeding all the other Spirit Beasts in the Beast Garden one by one. The process had its thrills, but he came through it all without any real danger.
And his rewards were incredible—over 1,900 Essence Points in total!
That was comparable to a dozen Spirit Chicken Gardens!
For a moment, Yu Changsheng found the idea of the Spirit Chicken Garden rather dull.
But he had promised Steward Chang. ’Every little bit helps,’ he thought. He was already skilled at feeding the Spirit Chickens, and it wouldn’t take much time, so he went anyway.
The Spirit Chicken Garden was near the Beast Taming Peak, so it didn’t take him long to arrive on his Iron Carving King.
Holding the Array Plate, he walked inside.
Yu Changsheng saw Steward Chang standing uncharacteristically in front of the coop. Next to him was an elderly man, pointing at the Spirit Chickens inside and making comments.
He hadn’t concealed his aura, so the elderly man noticed him as soon as he entered. The man stopped what he was doing and turned to look.
"Oh? So you’re Yu Changsheng, the one who looks after the Spirit Chickens."
The elder sized him up curiously and asked, "I heard from Steward Chang that you’ve become an Outer Disciple of the Beast Taming Peak. Why have you come back?"
Steward Chang smiled from the side. "Junior Martial Uncle Han, Changsheng promised me that he would continue to look after the Spirit Chickens even after becoming an Outer Disciple."
"I see. A good lad who keeps his word. It’s a shame. I’m planning to sell this Spirit Chicken Garden; otherwise, I could have left it for you to manage."
The elder smiled wryly and shook his head.
’So this was the Junior Martial Uncle Han who hadn’t been seen in months, Elder Han.’
Yu Changsheng was somewhat surprised by their conversation.
Seeing his expression, Steward Chang took the initiative to explain, "Junior Martial Uncle Han is being sent to the outpost on the border of Wuzhou to oversee operations. He won’t be back for three to five years, so he plans to list the Spirit Chicken Garden for sale to the other Elders."
As he spoke, Steward Chang sighed, clearly reluctant to part with the Spirit Chickens he had watched grow up.
’For sale?’ Something suddenly clicked in Yu Changsheng’s mind, and an idea began to form.
After careful consideration, he cautiously asked, "I wonder, how many Spirit Stones does Junior Martial Uncle Han intend to sell it for?"
Junior Martial Uncle Han was a little surprised by Yu Changsheng’s question.
In his eyes, Yu Changsheng had only just become an Outer Disciple. Even if he entertained the notion of buying the Spirit Chicken Garden, he couldn’t possibly have the Spirit Stones to pay for it. Thus, he simply assumed the young man was curious.
"There are still one hundred and fifty Spirit Chickens, priced at five Spirit Stones each. Add in this plot of land, which I originally acquired for two thousand Lower Grade Spirit Stones, plus the Array and other assets... let’s call it a total of three thousand five hundred Lower Grade Spirit Stones."
The most valuable assets were the Array and the land itself. The Array was quite old, so its price had been partially reduced.
The land, however, had appreciated in value year after year. All the good plots in the sect had already been claimed by senior Elders, making it difficult for even newly promoted ones to find a decent residence.
And while the Spiritual Qi on the Spirit Chicken Garden’s plot couldn’t compare to the summit of Beast Taming Peak, it was still better than places on the Outer Peak.
"So, young man, are you interested?"
Seeing Yu Changsheng’s pensive expression, Junior Martial Uncle Han chuckled.
"It’s like this," Yu Changsheng said with a smile. "My family has recently been looking to get into the Demon Beast trade, and these Spirit Chickens are a perfect fit. I was thinking of buying the place to serve as our supply source."
Junior Martial Uncle Han looked at him in surprise, then remarked, "Selling to an Outer Disciple... that is certainly a rarity."
Then, he thought it over. If he listed it for sale, other Elders would likely try to haggle, and the whole process could take ten days to half a month. It might be better to sell it directly to the young man before him.
"It’s possible," Junior Martial Uncle Han said, raising his eyes to meet Yu Changsheng’s. "But I’ll be in the sect for another month at most. Can you make the payment within that timeframe?"
Yu Changsheng smiled. "Please rest assured, Junior Martial Uncle Han. I’ll write to my family as soon as I get back. It will take two weeks at most to bring the Spirit Stones for payment."
"Excellent!" Junior Martial Uncle Han was overjoyed.
"In that case, I’ll head back for now. Just have Steward Chang contact me once you have the Spirit Stones."
With that, he departed in a hurry.
Steward Chang looked at Yu Changsheng and chuckled. "I never thought this Spirit Chicken Garden would be yours in the blink of an eye."
Yu Changsheng didn’t dare reveal too much. He discreetly slipped the steward a bottle of elixirs and said with a smile, "It’s all my family’s business; I’m just helping out. I’ll still need to rely on your care, Steward Chang."
"Mm, I don’t have much going on at the Outer Peak anyway. If anyone asks, I’ll just say another Elder bought the Spirit Chicken Garden. Hahaha."
Steward Chang accepted the bottle of elixirs with a smile, thinking to himself, ’A disciple this sensible is truly a rare sight.’
"Alright, you go prepare the Spirit Stones. I have to get back to my work."
"Yes, sir. I’ll head back after feeding the chickens for the day."
Yu Changsheng smiled and saw Steward Chang out of the Spirit Chicken Garden. Afterward, he gazed at the plot of land behind him, his heart swelling with ambition.
’I never thought I’d have my own piece of land so soon.’
’This area is a great place for practicing Beast Taming or raising Spirit Chickens and Demon Beasts. Most importantly, the Array will keep me hidden from prying eyes.’
At this thought, Yu Changsheng quickly went to feed the Spirit Chickens. After collecting 150 Essence Points, he hurried to the First-Grade Medicine Hall to buy materials.
’Three thousand five hundred Spirit Stones in two weeks... I’ll have to work day and night on my alchemy to earn that much!’
’For this land, I have to give it my all!’
