I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Chapter 55 - 54: To the Beast Garden Again

Chapter 55: Chapter 54: To the Beast Garden Again

After trying Shadow Flash a few times, Yu Changsheng stopped.

A Qi Refining Cultivator’s effective attack range was over a hundred meters. ’That means I only need to use it five times to get out of danger. But a Sword Cultivator’s Sword Control Skill might have an even wider range. I can’t let my guard down just because I’ve learned this Body Technique.’

’Besides these gains, I also have eight Tier One Demon Beast corpses, worth a total of seven to eight hundred Lower Grade Spirit Stones.’

’It’s a shame none of these Demon Beast corpses are suitable for me to fuse with.’

Yu Changsheng was still quite short on cash. If he didn’t need them, selling them to the Ten Thousand Beasts Tower in exchange for other Demon Beasts was a good option.

’The Ten Thousand Beasts Secret Realm is a great place to get rich. If it weren’t for the Beast Tide, I might have been able to hunt even more Demon Beasts.’

’I’ll have to be careful in the future. I can’t use the Scattered Demon Essence Pill in the Ten Thousand Beasts Secret Realm. The ecosystem inside is different from the wild, and it’ll be a hassle if I trigger another Beast Tide,’ Yu Changsheng thought.

The Ten Thousand Beasts Secret Realm was a Tier One Secret Realm unique to the Ten Thousand Beasts Peak. As long as a Beast Master had enough contribution points, they could gain access. It also served as a training ground for many disciples from the Peak.

However, Yu Changsheng had thoroughly offended those Wild Mountain Monkeys. He had no idea if he’d run into them next time he went in.

’Wild Mountain Monkeys are Earth Element, so they’re not very useful to me. I hope they don’t hold too much of a grudge.’

A Peak Tier One Demon Beast, immune to the Scattered Demon Essence Pill and surrounded by its underlings... even with his two Spirit Beasts, Yu Changsheng would have a hard time winning.

Even his Minor Achievement Fireball Skill could only injure the opponent, not seriously wound it.

That was his strongest offensive ability at the moment.

Unless he avoided the Ten Thousand Beasts Secret Realm from now on, trouble was bound to find him.

「The next day.」

After changing into the robes of an Outer Disciple, Yu Changsheng headed to the Affairs Hall.

"Elder, I was wondering what tasks are available for me to take?"

When he arrived at the counter, he saw the same Affairs Elder from the day before.

The Affairs Elder’s eyes widened slightly when he saw him. "You’ve only been on the Peak for a day and you’re already taking on tasks?" he asked, surprised.

This was the first time he had seen such a diligent Outer Disciple.

The disciples of the Beast Taming Peak tended to be rather laid-back. They were either cultivating their Spirit Beasts or playing with them. The more ambitious ones—Inner Sect Disciples—would lock themselves in their courtyards all day, researching Demon Beast bloodlines and attempting to create new variations.

The Affairs Elder was therefore intrigued. He opened a booklet beside him, handed it to Yu Changsheng, and said, "Seeing as you’ve just had a breakthrough in your Realm, you can take a look at these tasks. They aren’t very difficult."

Yu Changsheng took the booklet and scanned it line by line. Most of the tasks involved a Demon Beast from some Qi Refining Clan that had fallen ill and needed treatment, or was pregnant and required assistance with the birth...

None of the tasks offered many contribution points, and some even required him to stay with a clan to help train their Demon Beasts.

They were simple enough, but Yu Changsheng didn’t want to leave the sect at the moment.

So he looked up and asked, "Elder, are there any tasks within our Peak to feed Demon Beasts?"

"Feeding Demon Beasts? That’s something only servant disciples or Beast Masters with no future would do. Besides, it’s a daily chore, not a sect task."

The Affairs Elder looked at him and said, "Now that you’re an Outer Disciple, you should act like one."

Yu Changsheng gave a wry smile and said, "I’m a bit slow, and there aren’t many things I can do well. I’d like to start with feeding them."

The Affairs Elder frowned. "The only place for that would be the Beast Garden. But that’s a daily chore, and it won’t count toward your sect contributions. Are you sure you want to take it?"

"Now that you’re a disciple, you should be focused on your Cultivation. Why waste time on something like this?"

Yu Changsheng nodded with a smile. "Thank you, Elder, but I’d still like to accept this type of task."

Seeing that he was unmoved, the Affairs Elder shook his head to himself. If it weren’t for the declining number of disciples on the Beast Taming Peak each year, he wouldn’t have bothered to give such detailed advice.

"Then take this and go to the Beast Garden. Elder Wei should be there."

He handed Yu Changsheng a Task Token and said nothing more.

After thanking him, Yu Changsheng left the Affairs Hall and headed for the Beast Garden.

The Beast Garden was just as he remembered it, with no significant changes.

A few Spirit Beasts at the entrance curiously sized up Yu Changsheng.

Once inside, he saw Elder Wei.

"You’re an Outer Disciple now?" Elder Wei asked, a slight, surprised smile on his face. "It hasn’t even been a year, has it? It seems I underestimated your talent."

"Greetings, Elder Wei," Yu Changsheng said with the utmost respect.

"Mm. How is that Red Snake of yours doing? Still eating and sleeping all day?" Elder Wei asked.

Hearing this, Yu Changsheng formed a hand seal and summoned the Red Snake King.

The Red Snake King appeared. Upon seeing the man who had half-raised it, the corner of its mouth curled upward. It held its head high, looking down on everything, as if to say, ’Old man, go on, try suppressing me with your Divine Sense now! See if you still can!’

Elder Wei was taken aback, but not by the Red Snake King’s attitude.

"It transformed? And these scales, this Realm..."

His eyes widened. He glanced at the Red Snake King, then back at Yu Changsheng, a storm of shock brewing within him.

’Outstanding!’

’How many years has it been? This is the first time I’ve ever seen such an outstanding Beast Master!’

Elder Wei knew exactly what the Red Snake had been like in the Beast Garden. To see it so completely transformed after being contracted to Yu Changsheng for just over half a year was truly astonishing.

However, he was a man who had seen his share of wonders, and he quickly composed himself.

"Judging by your Task Token, you want to take on the feeding job here in the Beast Garden?"

Elder Wei changed the subject, deliberately ignoring the Red Snake King so as not to indulge its pride.

Yu Changsheng nodded and clasped his hands. "Yes. I’ll be in your care, Elder Wei."

Elder Wei clasped his hands behind his back and asked, "Are you sure it won’t delay your own Cultivation?"

"My Spirit Beast Affinity is very high. The feeding won’t take much time."

"Alright. Then follow me to get their food."

He led Yu Changsheng into a wooden cabin within the Beast Garden.

Inside the cabin were two rows of wooden shelves laden with various cuts of meat, as well as some Spirit Grass and leaves.

Elder Wei pointed to a particular leaf and said, "This is the daily food for the Cyan Flower Deer. It’s at the Tier One Eighth Layer. When you feed it, make sure to nod at it."

"Nod?" Yu Changsheng was taken aback. ’What a strange quirk.’

"That’s right. There are many Spirit Beasts in the Garden, and some of them have odd personalities. If you don’t play along, they’re liable to throw a tantrum and bite someone."

Elder Wei looked at Yu Changsheng and began explaining some of the important points.

"I’ve recorded the temperaments of the Spirit Beasts in this. You can take it and have a look. Now, let’s go. Go and try feeding that Cyan Flower Deer."

Yu Changsheng took the small booklet and followed Elder Wei to a grassy lawn where a Cyan Flower Deer was resting.

Its coat was beautiful, with patterns like those on blue-and-white porcelain that made one want to reach out and stroke it.

The Cyan Flower Deer was continuously absorbing the Spiritual Qi from the air. Suddenly seeing someone approach, it stopped its Cultivation and looked over curiously.

’A new person?’

It stood up, confused, as a faint rumbling sound echoed from its stomach.

’Ah, it’s mealtime.’
