Chapter 451: Chapter 332: You Have to Fight to Win (Part 2)
It was none other than Wang Haiyang, the former ninth and current tenth on the Celestial Slaughter List, a prodigy of the Cang Lei Sect and a fellow sect member of Chu Chengyu.
’Do all these people from the Cang Lei Sect like to put on an act so much?’
Yu Changsheng thought, watching Wang Haiyang. His expression remained calm as he met Wang Haiyang’s gaze in silence.
"So you were the one who killed Chu Chengyu?"
Seeing that Yu Changsheng didn’t speak, Wang Haiyang snapped his folding fan shut. He chuckled softly.
"What if I was, and what if I wasn’t? Are you planning to avenge him?"
Yu Changsheng asked, his brow furrowing slightly.
"It’s nothing," Wang Haiyang said, his smile never leaving his face. He shook his head lightly, not at all angry, and added with another smile, "I just wanted to get acquainted. He was a fellow sect member, after all. At the very least, I should see who killed him, lest he be unable to rest in peace."
"As for him, he’s dead, and that’s that. If his skills were inferior, he should have trained more."
Wang Haiyang spoke, his leisurely gaze fixed on Yu Changsheng as he licked his lips.
"As for you... you did, after all, kill my sect brother. You’d best be careful in the coming contest. If you know what’s good for you, I’d advise you to leave early."
"Oh."
Yu Changsheng nodded, appearing unfazed by Wang Haiyang’s words and not taking them to heart. He gave him a cool glance, then ignored him, found a spot, and sat down cross-legged to quietly await the blooming of the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus.
"Interesting."
Seeing this, Wang Haiyang chuckled lightly. Shaking his head, he fanned himself with his folding fan, but he didn’t press the issue. He turned and returned to his own spot.
"To have such courage without even reaching the Golden Core realm is commendable, but courage must be backed by strength."
The others all had varying expressions, each with their own schemes in mind. A few of them, in particular, watched Yu Changsheng with intriguing expressions.
"Yu Changsheng? You’re the one who killed Yan Ta, aren’t you?"
Just then, a somewhat abrupt voice rang out.
Stunned, the crowd turned toward the voice. The speaker had a gloomy face, a fierce gaze, and short hair, and was dressed in the Profound Yin Sect’s signature Blood Robe. On his forehead, a strange, blood-red flower mark glowed faintly, giving him a particularly demonic look.
It was a man from the Profound Yin Sect, the second-ranked on the Celestial Slaughter List: Yama.
’Yama? Why would he ask that? Yan Ta didn’t come this time... has he fallen?’
’From the sound of it, what does Yan Ta’s death have to do with Yu Changsheng?’
Hearing Yama’s words, the others were taken aback, and the way they looked at Yu Changsheng changed slightly.
Yu Changsheng squinted at Yama. The man before him bore a slight resemblance to Yan Ta, and coupled with their shared surname, Yan, his identity wasn’t hard to deduce.
He had to be Yan Ta’s older brother, one of the twin prodigies of Slaughter Mountain.
Although he had already figured out Yama’s identity, Yu Changsheng maintained a bewildered expression and spoke with a hint of confusion.
"Yan Ta? Who’s that? Why do you ask?"
"Heh heh," Yama sneered, his face dark. He gave Yu Changsheng a deep look. "It’s useless to deny it. Whether it was you or not, it’s absolutely impossible for you to leave the Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm in one piece."
"Cherish what little time you have left."
After speaking, Yama didn’t issue any more threats. He closed his eyes and resumed waiting quietly.
’Crazy bastard.’
Yu Changsheng frowned, glancing at Yama. He grew vigilant as he shook his head and muttered the thought to himself.
He knew that a battle with Yama was unavoidable. Since the man had asked such a question, he had undoubtedly come seeking revenge.
And obviously, the Celestial Slaughter Secret Realm was the most suitable place for it. Once outside, finding another opportunity like this would be difficult.
However, with the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus about to appear, Yama didn’t want to make a move now, lest he sustain injuries that would affect the subsequent contest.
Wang Haiyang, too, harbored similar thoughts. They were all restraining themselves. After all, the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus was the main prize and could not be treated carelessly.
’Now this is going to be a good show. The guy just got here and has already provoked two people. He’s in for a world of hurt.’
’Heh heh, interesting, very interesting. My advice? If this Yu Changsheng knows what’s good for him, he’ll back out right now. Find a place to hide, and he might have a sliver of a chance to live.’
Evidently, seeing this scene unfold, there were those who enjoyed watching a spectacle and didn’t mind if things escalated.
This included the other two from the Profound Yin Sect, who watched the scene with great interest. They didn’t intervene, however, merely casting a meaningful glance at Yu Changsheng.
The Profound Yin Sect was divided into three mountains and three lineages. Although they were of the same sect, the mountains had a poor relationship, even harboring hostility toward one another. Since these three individuals came from different peaks, their relationship was naturally far from good.
To put it bluntly, under the Profound Yin Sect’s cruel method of cultivating disciples, most were cold-blooded and ruthless. There was suspicion even among disciples from the same peak, let alone between these three.
Therefore, regarding the grudge between Yama and Yu Changsheng, the other two were mostly content to watch the show. In fact, if the two of them fought until both were grievously injured, it would be even more interesting for them.
Ignoring the gossip, Yu Changsheng’s expression remained normal. He gazed at the budding Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus not far away, gradually releasing his Divine Sense to feel its every subtle change and fluctuation.
’Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus, Heavenly Dao Qi... The Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus is the vessel for the Heavenly Dao Qi, and the Heavenly Dao Qi is the core of the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus... The two are interdependent. Once bound, they are inseparable...’
As this realization dawned on Yu Changsheng, a thought flickered in his mind, and the Ten Thousand Spirits Technique began to circulate slowly on its own.
At this distance, he was already very close to the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus. He had faintly sensed it earlier, but now that he was closer, the special pull it had on him was even more obvious.
"This is because you have a special Physique and are one Favored by the Heavens. It’s only natural that you can absorb Heavenly Dao Qi, so don’t be too surprised. Feel this connection carefully. When the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus fully matures, see if you can seize the initiative and make it come to you."
The Profound Turtle’s ancient voice echoed, offering an explanation.
"From the looks of it, this Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus will fully bloom and mature in three days at most. The Heavenly Dao Qi within it will coalesce in an instant. Use this time to adjust your Status to its peak. When the time comes, it will be a hard-fought battle."
"I see. Alright."
Yu Changsheng took a deep breath, agreeing silently. Closing his eyes to rest and meditate, he circulated the Ten Thousand Spirits Technique cycle after cycle. At the same time, his Divine Sense monitored every movement in his surroundings, keeping him vigilant while ensuring his body’s Status remained at its absolute Peak.
Yu Changsheng knew well that quite a few people bore him ill will. Obtaining this Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus would not be easy.
Time slowly passed. Over the next two days, more prodigies arrived one after another at Heaven’s Corner Mountain, but all of them, as if by tacit agreement, chose to observe from the periphery.
In the core area, only the ten people, including Yu Changsheng, guarded the space in silence.
Another half a day passed. As the Blood Evil Qi on Heaven’s Corner Mountain grew ever denser, it reached a certain peak. Then, waves of mystical fluctuations began to spread outward continuously from the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus at the center.
"Hm?"
The ten people, including Yu Changsheng, were the closest and thus the first to feel it most clearly. A thought flickered in each of their minds as they slowly opened their eyes.
’The Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus... is about to mature...’
’This fluctuation... it truly carries Heavenly Dao Qi. A Supreme Treasure like this cannot be missed...’
Everyone’s breathing grew slightly ragged. They stared at the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus in the center with fervent eyes, while their wariness and hostility toward those around them became more pronounced.
Yu Changsheng’s eyes narrowed slightly. He took a deep breath to suppress the turmoil in his heart, feeling the intimate pull from the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus grow even stronger.
’Perhaps I can summon the Celestial Slaughter Golden Lotus with just a wave of my hand?’
The thought leaped abruptly into his mind. Yu Changsheng grew pensive, pondering the possibility.
But now was not the time for action. He had to wait for the right opportunity.
