I Tame Beasts by Feeding

Chapter 245: Chapter 230: Zhang Tianwen Takes Action (2)
"Three breaths. If I can’t defeat you by then, I’ll admit defeat."
Zhang Tianwen said calmly. He projected no overwhelming aura, yet his words made everyone’s expression shift.
Guo Dongming laughed, furious. He felt deeply humiliated. "Such arrogance," he spat. "I’d like to see if you can maintain that composure when you’re lying defeated at my hands."
The moment he finished speaking, he waved his hand, and two Foundation Establishment Fourth Layer Spirit Beasts materialized on the arena stage. They roared at Zhang Tianwen, their presence overwhelming.
As for Guo Dongming, his body shook as he unleashed the full might of his Foundation Establishment Fifth Layer aura without reservation.
"Not bad," Zhang Tianwen said with a slight nod, still perfectly calm in the face of this display. "Your Spirit Beasts are decent, and they seem to know how to coordinate. It’s acceptable."
"Heh," Guo Dongming sneered. "And where are your Spirit Beasts? If you don’t summon them now, you won’t get another chance."
Guo Dongming sneered, the vicious glint in his eyes unconcealed. He stomped forward, making the entire arena stage tremble.
"My Spirit Beasts? You’re not worthy of facing them. I don’t need Spirit Beasts to defeat you."
Zhang Tianwen shook his head and spoke softly, but his words were like a stone dropped into a still pond, sending ripples through the crowd.
His words caused an uproar. The disciples of Beast Taming Peak felt their blood surge with excitement, but they couldn’t help a flicker of worry.
For a Beast Master, the bulk of their combat power comes from their Spirit Beasts. Zhang Tianwen’s claim was, without a doubt, incredibly arrogant.
"Senior Brother Zhang must be confident. If he’s saying this, he must have it handled."
"But this Guo Dongming is no pushover. From the looks of it, he’s one of the top disciples over at the Spirit Dragon Sect, so..."
Ignoring the crowd’s chatter, Guo Dongming on the stage was so incensed he just laughed. He was done with words. The next instant, he shot forward, his two Spirit Beasts flanking him as they charged at Zhang Tianwen.
The crowd’s eyes narrowed. They saw Zhang Tianwen’s feet slowly trace a semicircle on the stage, a white light flashing from his soles. His hands moved from his chest, circling back to form a triangular stance.
His movements were phantom-like. In a single turn, he bypassed the two flanking Spirit Beasts and appeared directly in front of Guo Dongming. His hands, like blades, slashed forward in a sudden horizontal chop!
"Ling Lei... Yu Tian!"
A brilliant purple radiance of lightning flared in Zhang Tianwen’s hands. Empowered by this force, his already swift movements became even more agile. His palms left a trail of afterimages in the air as streaks of electricity cut through the void, which crackled in their wake.
’This is bad!’
Guo Dongming’s face paled. The attack was right in front of him, and his scalp went numb. The lightning arcing from his opponent’s palms danced in the air, sending a paralyzing sensation through his entire body. He froze for an instant. By the time he could react, all he could do was throw his arms up to shield his head.
His two Spirit Beasts lunged forward in a frenzy, but they were a fraction of a second too late.
BAM!!
The hand, wreathed in thunderbolts, landed. It struck Guo Dongming’s blocking arm first. In the next second, the arm bent at an unnatural angle as a chilling sound echoed out.
CRACK! CRUNCH...
The sound of snapping bone was like a string of firecrackers. It was immediately followed by Guo Dongming’s heaven-piercing shriek. Agony twisted his features into a terrifying grimace as sweat dripped down his brow.
Zhang Tianwen’s expression remained unchanged; he had no intention of showing mercy. The coldness in his eyes only deepened. After shattering Guo Dongming’s arm, the lightning on his hands flared brighter as he continued his downward chop with unstoppable force.
Guo Dongming’s eyes widened in terror. At the critical moment, he fought through the excruciating pain in his arm. Seeing the hand chopping straight for his skull, he bit his tongue hard to jolt his senses and managed to tilt his head, just barely avoiding a fatal blow.
TZZT! TZZT!
The next moment, blinding lightning exploded on Guo Dongming’s shoulder. The scent of burnt flesh filled the air. The spot where he was hit had completely caved in—a mangled, charred mess with no blood, the wound seared shut.
ARGHHHHH...
An even more wretched scream tore from his lips, tears and sweat mingling as they streamed down his face. But the next instant, it was cut short.
At the same time, Guo Dongming’s two Spirit Beasts roared and lunged furiously at Zhang Tianwen. They were tiger-like Spirit Beasts, their massive maws gaping open to reveal terrifying, gleaming fangs.
"Get back!"
Zhang Tianwen roared, his expression cold. His hand shifted from a chop to a claw, seizing Guo Dongming by the neck. As the two Spirit Beasts charged, he swung Guo Dongming around, and with a sudden exertion of force, hurled his body like a javelin toward them.
Having done this, Zhang Tianwen made no further moves. He slowly closed his eyes and exhaled. Then, he opened them again, his gaze sweeping over the crowd of Spirit Dragon Sect disciples. He stood as straight as a pine tree, his expression serene.
"The winner of this match is Zhang Tianwen of the Wanxiang Sect!"
Mu Yongxian’s expression was grim. With a wave of his hand, a cushion of Soft Force enveloped the unconscious Guo Dongming. The two Spirit Beasts dissolved into streams of light and were recalled to their Inner Realm. He had no choice but to announce the result of the match.
Below the stage, the disciples of Beast Taming Peak were stunned for two seconds before erupting into a cacophony of cheers. Their previously flagging morale was instantly reignited.
"That was so satisfying! As expected of Senior Brother Zhang! He said three breaths, and he did it in three breaths! That guy from the Spirit Dragon Sect didn’t even have a chance to fight back!"
One disciple, invigorated, had eyes shining with excitement. He found himself standing taller.
"So this is Senior Brother Zhang? The Peak Master’s disciple is truly on another level! With just one move, he beat that Spirit Dragon Sect disciple like a drowning dog, completely helpless!"
Other disciples watched with fervent gazes, their fists clenched tightly.
"Now, who in the entire Spirit Dragon Sect can possibly be a match for our Senior Brother Zhang?!"
Facing the adulation, Zhang Tianwen simply smiled. He bowed to Mo Pengchen, who was seated on the raised platform, and then gracefully descended from the stage. His face wasn’t flushed, his heart wasn’t racing; he was perfectly composed, his aura not the least bit disturbed.
It was clear the battle had cost him almost nothing.
’I knew that after all the previous losses, our side’s morale was dangerously low,’ Zhang Tianwen thought. ’We needed a crushing victory to rally everyone’s spirits. That’s why I made such an arrogant proclamation the moment I got on stage—to grab their attention. Of course, I was also confident I could back it up.’
’Defeating Guo Dongming in three breaths without using my Spirit Beasts... It seems the effect was quite good. At the very least, the Spirit Dragon Sect’s side has fallen silent. No more clamoring from them.’
"So that’s him? The rumored Closed-door Disciple of Beast Taming Peak’s Peak Master? It seems the rumors of his skill were true."
"We both know how strong Guo Dongming is, yet he was defeated in an instant. And the guy didn’t even use a Spirit Beast... If we run into him, we’ll need to be careful."
Even the formidable Yang Chengxu cast a sideways glance at Zhang Tianwen and smiled faintly.
’Another interesting opponent,’ he thought.
......
On the raised platform, Mo Pengchen watched Zhang Tianwen, a flash of appreciation in his eyes. He gave his disciple a slight nod.
Beside him, Mu Yongxian’s face was grim, but he quickly composed himself. He looked at Mo Pengchen and said coolly:
"Peak Master Mo’s disciple is quite something. To suffer such a grievous injury back then and not only survive but recover so well... It seems Peak Master Mo has spent no small amount of effort on him over the years. No wonder your own Cultivation hasn’t progressed at all."
Mo Pengchen shot Mu Yongxian a look, his eyes profound. "Peak Master Mu’s Cultivation, on the other hand, has progressed quite rapidly these past few years. It just makes one wonder about the disciples you’re supposed to be training, and whether you’ve put any heart into them at all."
Mu Yongxian shook his head with a faint smile. "My disciples are naturally gifted and brilliant. They hardly require any effort from me. One could say they teach themselves, which has made things quite relaxing for me."
Mo Pengchen’s brow twitched. He gave Mu Yongxian a long, deep look, then let out a dry chuckle.
