I Summon Female Knights
Chapter 76: Training (1)
The rain had long stopped over Jiston, but the news feeds across the lower sectors were still burning with the fallout of Subterranean Vault ALT-5.
On the high translucent screens mounted along the outer walls of the grand throne room, streams of encrypted news data flickered silently. Marcus Sterling’s public arrest by Bureau internal affairs, the sudden freeze on Vanguard Coalition’s trade licenses, and the quiet, aggressive movement of Apex Guild strike teams through Sector 1 were all scrolling past in crisp blue text. The corporate shadow war had ignited precisely as calculated... a slow, self-destructive fire that would consume Jiston’s elite ranks while the public remained distracted by the impending continental alignment.
Raphael stood on the high marble landing overlooking the central courtyard of The Iron Spire.
His broad frame looked starkly modern against the dark, gothic architecture of the surrounding obsidian towers. On his recent covert trip into Sector 9’s commercial transit district, just before stepping into the quiet coffee shop where he met Officer Elena, he had stopped by a high-end athletic outfitters’ supply vault to replace his worn travel attire with something comfortable for domestic duty within the keep.
He no longer wore the heavy void-silk coat or his dual scabbard harness.
Instead, Raphael wore a sleek black tank top that fit snugly across his broad, muscular chest and carved shoulders, paired with loose-fitting black cargo trousers tucked loosely into dark, high-top athletic sneakers. His dark, messy hair fell casually over his brow, framing his sharp features without the heavy shadow of his hood.
In the human world, when fully geared for field operations, his silhouette was defined by his midnight coat, a broad, wide-necked black T-shirt, white baggy cargo pants, and heavy black combat boots. But here, within the privacy of his developing kingdom, he dressed for pure movement, conditioning, and utility.
Beside him, Vanessa stepped onto the landing, her dark silk robes sweeping softly across the polished stone. She carried her dark relic-staff anchored at her hip, her violet eyes reflecting the scrolling news feeds floating above the courtyard.
"Vanguard Coalition’s stock has plummeted another forty-two percent overnight, Lord Raphael," Vanessa reported, her silk-like voice cutting smoothly through the quiet hum of the keep’s quantum servers. "Apex Guild has mobilized three B-Tier response units to secure their disputed mining claims in Sector 4. The corporate directors are so focused on accusing each other of the ALT-5 heist that none of them are paying attention to the spatial frequency shifts in the outer sectors."
Raphael rested his hands in his pockets, his silver eyes fixed on the distant purple void stretching past The Sentinel Gardens.
"Let them tear each other apart," Raphael said, his deep voice carrying absolute, icy calm. "The corporate lords built their empires on the assumption that Earth’s rules will remain stable. They don’t realize that the world they know is already dissolving under their feet."
"The Bureau’s regional sensors are reporting an increase in sub-zero spatial fluctuations across the eastern coastline," Vanessa continued, tapping her staff against the stone to bring up a holographic map of the continent. "Captain Vale has placed Recon Team 4 on extended standby. Officer Elena has filed three separate reports regarding her encounter with you in Sector 9, but without a detectable mana signature, the Bureau board has dismissed her findings as a sensor error."
A faint, cold smile touched Raphael’s lips. "Elena knows what she saw, but a system that relies on machines will always reject what its machines cannot quantify. That blindness is our greatest asset."
He turned away from the balcony railing, pacing slowly across the black marble floor. His mind mapped out the coming months with cold, mathematical precision.
The system announcement had made it clear: the Multi-Sector Dimensional Convergence was underway, but a continental alignment was an immense, slow-moving spatial event. It wouldn’t resolve in a matter of days or weeks. It would grind across months, perhaps a year or more, as the spatial boundaries between Earth and the primordial void gradually eroded.
If he attempted to force a full continental takeover now, while the human guilds still held their armies intact and the Bureau maintained its heavy artillery, he would waste unnecessary energy on minor skirmishes.
"We go dark," Raphael stated firmly, stopping at the edge of the stairwell leading down to the primary training arena.
Vanessa tilted her head slightly, her violet eyes fixed on him. "A full operational pause, my Lord?"
"A strategic consolidation," Raphael corrected smoothly. "The human guilds will spend the next three months bleeding their resources against each other in courtrooms and corporate shadow wars. The Bureau will burn its budget patrolling empty sectors looking for a ghost. During that time, The Iron Spire will remain completely invisible."
He looked down at his gauntleted right hand, flexing his long fingers as faint threads of silvery-violet spatial energy spun across his knuckles before vanishing into his skin.
"I have unlocked Realm-Breaker; Monarch’s Spatial Aegis," Raphael continued, his deep voice resonating through the stone arches. "It is a Calamity-Tier ability, but raw power without absolute martial mastery is inefficient. I need to train. I need to test the physical limits of this new ability, refine my footwork, and condition my body to handle higher spatial loads without strain."
"And the fortress, Sovereign?" Vanessa asked, bowing her head.
"Maintain passive intelligence sweeps through the Global Information Matrix," Raphael instructed. "Keep our treasury locked in off-grid accounts. If any corporate guild or rogue syndicate steps into Sector 9 or threatens our perimeter, erase them silently. But otherwise, we do not set foot in the human world until I am ready."
"As you command, Sovereign," Vanessa bowed deeply, her dark staff pulsing with a soft, respectful gravitational light. "The domain will remain hidden in the shadows."
Raphael turned toward the heavy iron doors leading down into the subterranean training vaults beneath the keep.
He didn’t need external validation from human rankings, nor did he care for the fame that corporate hunters chased. He had an entire floating kingdom to expand, a Calamity-Tier spatial domain to master, and a continent that would eventually belong to him.
He pushed open the heavy iron doors, stepping into the vast, dark arena below as the training lamps flickered to life one by one.
The long isolation had begun.
