I Summon Female Knights

Chapter 51: Thirty Minutes Ago...

  • Next Chapter

Thirty minutes before the final collapse of The Iron Spire of the Sky-Shattered Vault, the regional headquarters of the Bureau in Jiston was operating at a fever pitch.

Deep inside the tactical ops room, a cavernous, glass-walled command center lined with real-time satellite feeds and glowing mana radar maps, operators shouted back and forth over a wall of rising alert tones.

"We have a localized atmospheric pressure drop in Hiwo District, Sector 9!" an analyst yelled, his fingers flying across a holographic console. "Subterranean resonance spike detected below the old rail depot! It’s a spatial tear!"

Captain Vale stood near the main projection table, his arms crossed tightly over his chest. His crisp Bureau uniform was immaculate, but the faint dark circles under his sharp, disciplined eyes betrayed his utter lack of sleep over the past week.

Ever since the rogue "Unknown" asset, Raphael Matthews, had shattered containment and vanished, Vale had slept no more than two hours a night. The executive board was putting immense pressure on his neck, demanding results before the public caught wind of a rogue threat walking the streets.

Beside him stood Elena, her tailored combat vest buckled tight, her short hair drawn back. Her arms were folded, her jaw set in a hard line. The lingering phantom aches from her earlier violent encounter with Raphael still burned in her shoulders.

"Is it connected to our missing asset?" Elena asked, her voice low and sharp.

"Unlikely," Vale replied coldly, his eyes tracking the red telemetry waves pulsing on the main map. "A spatial tear of this magnitude requires a stationary dimensional rift that has been festering for days. He wouldn’t have the resources or knowledge to locate an unmapped rift in Hiwo."

"Captain!" the analyst interrupted, his voice dropping an octave into pure panic. "The mana signature just spiked exponentially! The baseline readings just crossed D-Tier parameters and are rapidly approaching C-Tier density!"

Vale’s eyes narrowed instantly. "A C-Tier wild rift in a civilian district?"

"Worse, sir," the analyst reported. "The elemental composition is seventy-eight percent corrupted void energy. It’s a Void-type pocket dimension. If that rift undergoes a full dimensional collapse, the resulting mana shockwave will level three surrounding residential sectors and flood Hiwo with untamed void entities. Estimated civilian casualties... over forty thousand."

Elena’s face went pale. Void-type dungeons were notorious among the guilds. Their indigenous entities possessed no fixed anatomy, rendering standard physical munitions virtually useless. Containing a C-Tier Void rift usually required two full raid squads, specialized mana-disruption barriers, and a high-ranking B-Tier field commander.

"Issue an immediate Sector 9 lockdown," Vale commanded, his authoritative voice instantly cutting through the room’s mounting panic. "Mobilize Strike Team Alpha. Elena, you’re with me. We are deploying directly via light-chopper."

...

Twenty minutes later, three heavily armored tactical transport helicopters roared through the rain-slicked skies above Hiwo. Below, the overgrown industrial fringe was swarming with flashing red and blue siren lights as Bureau vehicles sealed off every major intersection.

Inside the lead transport, Captain Vale adjusted his combat gauntlets as he stared out the open bay door at the disused rail depot below. The air surrounding the building was visibly distorted, shimmering with a sickly, violet-red haze.

"Touchdown in thirty seconds!" the pilot announced over the comms. "Sir, field units report that three low-grade void entities breached the threshold fifteen minutes ago, but they were obliterated before the perimeter teams arrived!"

Elena checked the pulse-rifle in her hands. "Obliterated by who? Did a local guild respond without clearance?"

"Ground teams couldn’t confirm," the pilot replied. "They only found scorched concrete and residual mana traces."

The chopper landed with a heavy thud outside the depot. Vale and Elena led a team of twelve heavily armed tactical operatives as they charged into the cavernous, rusting train shed.

The atmosphere inside was suffocating. In the center of the subterranean maintenance pit, the crimson tear in reality was pulsing violently, its jagged edges crackling with volatile pink lightning.

"Deploy the spatial stabilization pillars!" Vale ordered. "Erect a Class-3 containment field around the tear! If a dungeon break occurs, bottleneck the entrance!"

Four tactical operatives rushed forward, carrying heavy metal pillars designed to project high-frequency suppression fields.

"Sensors are locked!" an operative yelled over the hum of the machinery. "Captain, the rift is dangerously unstable! Readings indicate a high-tier entity is currently active inside!"

Elena stepped to the edge of the pit, her eyes locked onto the flickering portal. "It’s too volatile. Captain, give the order. We have to breach the gate and eliminate the boss before it forces a full-scale dungeon break."

Vale looked at his watch, his jaw set. "Strike Team Alpha, prepare for breach. On my mark..."

Before the word could leave his mouth, the universe seemed to hold its breath.

HUMMMMMMMMMMMMM...

The roaring, violent crackle of crimson lightning instantly vanished. The oppressive, suffocating pressure filling the train depot evaporated, replaced by a sudden, eerie silence. In the next second, a divine wave of silvery-gold light erupted from the center of the rift, washing over the shock-frozen operatives.

The spatial tear did not explode outward in a catastrophic dungeon break. Instead, it collapsed neatly inward, shrinking from an eight-foot tear down to a microscopic pinprick of golden light before snapping completely out of existence.

The spatial telemetry devices carried by the operatives let out a series of flat, uniform beeps.

Silence fell over the maintenance pit. The heavy, ozone-laden stench of corrupted void mana was gone, replaced by a strange, clean stillness.

Elena lowered her weapon slowly, her eyes wide with absolute shock. "It’s... gone? Did the rift collapse?"

"No," Vale said, his voice unusually quiet as he stepped slowly down into the pit. He crouched down, running his gloved fingers over a deep, clean gouge in the floorboards, a mark left by a blade infused with high-frequency, silvery-violet mana. "A rift only vanishes when its dungeon core is forcibly severed from its dimension."

"Cleared?" Elena stepped down beside him, her brow furrowed in utter disbelief. "Captain, that was a C-Tier Void domain! We detected a C-Tier draconic variant inside less than twenty minutes ago! Who could possibly clear an unmapped, volatile C-Tier Void dungeon in less than an hour? It’s statistically impossible for any standard squad!"

Vale stood up slowly, wiping the fine stone dust off his gloves. "Look at these impact marks. The kinetic dispersion is localized... singular. A single combatant fought here."

Elena’s breath caught in her throat. "A solo clear on a C-Tier Void gate... Captain, are you suggesting..."

"One of the S-Tiers," Vale said quietly, the weight of the statement hanging heavy in the cool air of the depot. "One of those elusive, unregistered monsters who answer to no government, follow no Bureau laws, and move through the shadows as they please. One of them must have spotted the rift before our radar array caught it, stepped inside, and slaughtered everything within."

Vale stared at the empty spot where the portal had vanished, feeling the lingering, terrifying mana frequency. A fleeting thought of a six-foot-five "Unknown" asset crossed his mind, but he instantly dismissed it as impossible logic. A civilian asset couldn’t conquer a C-Tier Void domain solo in a matter of days.

"What matters," Vale growled softly, turning back toward the transport choppers, "is that a monster of that caliber is currently operating unmonitored right in our backyard."
