Following the imprint left behind by Huiming back then, he located the spatial node leading toward that mortal realm.
A formation enveloped the outer perimeter of that world.
The formation appeared completely natural, with spiritual energy flowing like intertwined dragons and serpents. On the surface it seemed plain and unremarkable, yet hidden mysteries lay within.
Jingxin probed it with his divine sense, and his heart trembled slightly.
The defensive strength of this formation was sufficient to withstand Golden Immortal-level existences.
He considered himself to stand at the peak Arhat Realm, comparable to a Mysterious Immortal, yet he still fell a step short of the Golden Immortal Realm.
If he attempted to force his way through, it would likely not be easy.
However, Jingxin had already been burned impatient by the nameless fury within his heart during this journey.
He refused to return empty-handed.
Immediately, he summoned his personal magical treasure.
A vajra pestle entirely golden in color, a demon-subduing artifact bestowed by a Bodhisattva.
He activated all the magic power within his body, and the vajra pestle transformed into a streak of golden light that smashed viciously against the formation.
When one strike failed, he struck again.
Then he produced several more magical treasures—a bowl, prayer beads, and a戒刀—multiple Buddhist artifacts appearing together as they continuously bombarded the formation in succession.
Though the formation was powerful, it ultimately lacked anyone actively controlling it.
Under Jingxin’s frenzied bombardment, even at the cost of exhausting his cultivation, a tiny crack finally split open.
Jingxin seized the opportunity. His body transformed into a strand of golden light and slipped through the gap.
The instant he entered, he felt his entire body suddenly grow heavy.
The laws of heaven and earth within this world differed greatly from those of the Immortal Realm, while the spiritual energy was so thin it was practically nonexistent.
Standing upon the clouds, he turned back to look. The crack in the formation had already healed itself.
At this moment, for some unknown reason, a trace of regret emerged within Jingxin’s heart.
A formation without anyone controlling it had already forced him to exhaust all his strength and magical treasures merely to barely force open a small opening.
Then what kind of cultivation realm must the great power who established this formation possess?
Yet the instant this thought arose, the nameless fury within his chest burst into flames once more.
At the same time, a voice echoed within his mind.
He was an Arhat of the Buddhist Sect, protected by Buddhas and Bodhisattvas alike. Even if the other party possessed profound cultivation, would they truly dare kill a disciple of the Buddhist Sect?
Besides, he merely came to ask for an explanation, not to fight to the death.
That voice echoed repeatedly, completely suppressing the traces of regret and fear within his heart.
This was precisely the terror of tribulation qi.
As the saying went:
One thought becomes Buddha, one thought becomes demon.
Buddha and demon were fundamentally one, separated only by a single thought.
With the great tribulation of heaven and earth approaching, tribulation qi permeated the myriad worlds. So long as one was a living being, one would inevitably become contaminated by it.
Those lacking firm hearts would have the darkness within themselves stirred by tribulation qi, magnifying obsessions and twisting rationality.
Jingxin had originally shared deep friendship with Huiming, valuing loyalty and affection. This had originally been his good intention.
Yet beneath the erosion of tribulation qi, that sense of friendship transformed into obsession, and obsession transformed into wrath.
He believed himself to be seeking justice for his friend, while in truth he had long since been led by the nose by tribulation qi itself.
At this moment, where was there any trace remaining of an Arhat’s compassion or wisdom?
All the rationality, humility, and caution cultivated through countless years had been completely devoured by tribulation qi.
What remained was only the arrogance of a Buddhist disciple.
Only the pride of an Arhat fruit position.
Only the extreme obsession that the Buddhist Sect could not be insulted.
Standing among the clouds, he was just about to speak and call for the hidden great power behind this world to reveal themselves.
Suddenly—
From above the heavens, an enormous hand emerged from the void.
The entire hand was golden, Buddhist light surging endlessly from it, carrying an indescribable aura of compassion.
It did not resemble a killing move. Rather, it resembled a Buddha extending a hand to soothe and comfort all living beings.
Jingxin’s pupils contracted violently.
He did not even have time to react before the hand had already arrived before him.
This palm strike was called 《Great Compassion Palm》.
It was the innate divine ability attached to Gu Yan’s 《Myriad Buddha True Body》 entry.
This palm contained supreme compassionate power capable of dissolving an enemy’s killing intent and weakening their fighting spirit.
If the opponent harbored evil thoughts, the might of the palm multiplied several times over.
If the opponent harbored benevolent thoughts, then the palm would injure but not kill.
Jingxin had come this time with thoughts only of directly confronting the hidden great power behind this world. Where would any trace of benevolence come from?
Furthermore, the demonic thoughts produced by tribulation qi occupied his heart. The evil within him far surpassed that of ordinary people.
Thus, the power of this palm multiplied several more times over.
Bang!
With a muffled explosion, Jingxin Arhat was blasted away like a swatted insect. The golden light surrounding his body shattered as blood sprayed from his mouth.
His entire body was sent flying backward at unimaginable speed.
He passed through the formation.
Passed through the spatial barriers.
Passed through the Spirit Realm itself.
All the way back into the Immortal Realm.
Finally, he crashed heavily before the mountain gates of the Great Thunderclap Monastery, sending dust and debris exploding everywhere.
This entire scene was witnessed clearly throughout Spirit Mountain.
That enormous golden hand blotted out the heavens and concealed the sun. Even across countless layers of space, it remained perfectly visible.
The purity of its Buddhist light and the grandeur of its aura were practically akin to a Buddha personally descending and striking.
Yet all the Bodhisattvas and Arhats looked at one another in confusion, each inwardly thinking the same thing:
A Buddha would absolutely never punish one of their own disciples in such a manner.
If a Buddha wished to punish Jingxin, Buddhist precepts already existed. Why make such a massive display?
Moreover, although that palm strike had been heavy, it contained no killing intent whatsoever. It resembled more of a… warning.
Jingxin Arhat lay amidst the shattered stones, his aura faint and weak, though he had not died.
His eyes were wide open yet hollow, while his entire being had fallen into a strange state:
Enlightenment.
Yet this enlightenment did not move toward awakening to one’s true nature.
Rather, it moved toward the birth of heart demons and the collapse of Buddhist faith.
He muttered incomprehensibly beneath his breath, his appearance identical to the state Huiming had entered during his inner demon deviation all those years ago.
This was already Gu Yan showing mercy.
Had he possessed killing intent, a mere Arhat would not even have ashes remaining.
And this was not the end.
A divine sense transmitted from that mortal realm, piercing through the myriad worlds and reaching the Great Thunderclap Monastery directly, falling into the ears of every Bodhisattva and Arhat.
“This is the final time. Should the Buddhist Sect offend my realm again in the future, do not blame this poor Daoist… for slaughtering every single invader.”
