The ‍‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‌‍deduction results showed that Burning Heaven Demon Venerable had originally been a loose cultivator in the Spirit Realm one hundred thousand years ago.

By chance, he obtained a strand of that old demon’s demonic thought inheritance, which led him onto the demonic path.

Back then, when the old demon laid down this chess piece, it had merely been done casually, with no intention of activating it.

But later, Myriad Tribulations Demon Lord’s plans in the Spirit Realm collapsed prematurely after being destroyed by the Bull Demon Demon King.

The old demon’s arrangements within the Spirit Realm immediately developed a gap.

Thus, this backup chess piece that had remained dormant for one hundred thousand years was reactivated.

After reading the deduction results, Gu Yan could not help but sigh once more.

This peak Immortal King Realm old demon truly was quite talented.

When one chess piece became useless, another immediately filled the position.

Every step linked tightly together, every move carefully planned.

With this level of strategic thinking and this kind of unwavering perseverance, if he were not using it for blood sacrifices of all living beings, then no matter what he did, he would probably succeed.

What a pity.

In matters like blood sacrificing all living beings, he was destined to fail.

Not only because the Heavenly Dao would never permit such things to truly grow unchecked.

But also because in the future, if Gu Yan possessed the strength, he absolutely would not stand by and ignore it.

Of course, that did not mean Gu Yan possessed some saintly compassion and could not bear seeing suffering in the world.

Rather, such blood sacrifices disturbed his state of mind, disrupted his Dao heart, and were simply unpleasant to look at.

And once something displeased his eyes, his mind became restless. Once his mind became restless, his cultivation progress slowed. Naturally, that was something he could not tolerate.

But speaking of which, what exactly was the background of this peak Immortal King Realm old demon?

Gu Yan only knew he was the mastermind behind the scenes, but had never seriously investigated his title before.

Now that he thought about it, perhaps it was worth taking a look.

He formed a hand seal, and the images upon the Haotian Mirror continued shifting.

A moment later, a line of text appeared within the mirror:

【Primordial Infinite World-Destroying Heaven-Executing Great Demon Venerable】

Gu Yan: “……”

This title…

How should he put it?

It was extremely imposing.

Compared to that Three-Eyed One-Legged Bull Demon Immortal King he had encountered before, it sounded hundreds of times more domineering.

That fellow’s title sounded like some mountain bandit king.

But this one directly went all out.

Primordial. Infinite. World-Destroying. Heaven-Executing.

Any one of those words alone was enough to intimidate people, yet he had strung all of them together.

Gu Yan withdrew his thoughts and glanced once more at the line of text within the mirror before shaking his head.

No matter how overbearing the title sounded, the things he did were still the same old routines.

Planting chess pieces, conducting blood sacrifices, and stirring up trouble in the lower realms.

After thinking about it, Gu Yan felt that this old fellow definitely had not merely planted chess pieces within the Demon Realm and Spirit Realm.

Perhaps the Demon Realm, Ghost Realm, and all the other middle worlds also contained his hidden arrangements.

These ancient monsters who had lived for countless years excelled most at this sort of thing.

If the east side failed, the west side would shine.

If this chess piece became useless, there was always another one.

In any case, they had all the time in the world to slowly arrange things.

However, these matters were still not something he needed to worry about for now.

He had only reached Human Immortal Realm Second Layer.

He had yet to fully understand just how deep the waters of the Immortal Realm truly were.

For now, the best course of action was still to cultivate honestly and properly.

He should first raise his cultivation.

As for everything else, there would be plenty of time to slowly observe later.

Thinking thus, Gu Yan put away the Haotian Mirror and stopped looking further.

He sat down cross-legged once more, closed his eyes, calmed his mind, and immersed himself in cultivation.

......

At the same time, Spirit Realm, Eastern Continent, Azure Wave Sect.

Within the discussion hall atop the main peak, Sect Master Wu Changan sat in the main seat with a solemn expression.

The two rows of seats below were filled with sect elders.

The atmosphere within the hall was heavy and oppressive, with no one speaking.

Wu Changan swept his gaze across everyone before speaking in a deep voice, “Everyone should already have heard that Burning Heaven Demon Venerable established a nation within the Northern Plains and gathered tens of thousands of demonic cultivators in merely three years. His momentum is not small.”

The moment those words were spoken, discussions immediately erupted throughout the hall.

An elder with completely white hair and beard spoke first.

“Sect Master, the direction of the world’s winds is wrong.”

“The demonic cultivators are resurging, and Burning Heaven Demon Venerable’s advance is fierce. I fear another catastrophe is approaching.”

Another elder nodded in agreement.

“Indeed. I have read the records from one hundred thousand years ago within ancient texts. Back then, Burning Heaven Demon Venerable slaughtered the Central Lands until blood flowed like rivers. The three great sacred lands of the Eastern Continent were completely massacred by him.”

“Now that he has returned, he is likely even more vicious than before.”

“What’s there to fear?”

A middle-aged elder seated in the corner waved his hand dismissively.

“No matter how fierce Burning Heaven Demon Venerable is, he’s only causing trouble in the Central Lands and Northern Plains. They’re far from our Eastern Continent.”

“When the sky collapses, the tall ones will hold it up first. It’s not Azure Wave Sect’s turn to worry.”

Another elder picked up the conversation.

“Besides, the Spirit Realm has always been a place where the righteous and demonic paths take turns holding power.”

“When demonic forces grow strong, the righteous path lies low.”

“When the righteous path grows strong, the demonic path retreats.”

“And because of this, the Spirit Realm continuously produces heroes and great experts.”

“This waxing and waning is simply the natural law of heaven and earth. There’s no need to worry excessively.”

“Exactly,” another elder echoed.

“Do you all still remember Myriad Tribulations Demon Lord from several years ago?”

“At that time, his momentum was also overwhelming. He unified the Southern Region and acted arrogantly without restraint.”

“And what was the result? He was destroyed by the Bull Demon Demon King.”

“And what happened to the Bull Demon Demon King? In the end, didn’t he die as well?”

“The great experts of the Spirit Realm come and go. How many can truly laugh until the very end?”

The white-haired elder from before pondered for a moment before slowly nodding.

“You are all correct. Our Eastern Continent is protected by a great expert capable of casually killing even peak Tribulation Crossing Realm beings.”

“With such a figure guarding the Eastern Continent, no matter how bold Burning Heaven Demon Venerable may be, he absolutely would not dare invade our Eastern Continent.”

As soon as those words were spoken, everyone in the hall visibly relaxed.

After hearing them, Wu Changan also slightly nodded.

“What the elders say is reasonable.”

“With that great expert present, our Eastern Continent is indeed as stable as Mount Tai.”

“I gathered everyone today merely to hear your thoughts. Since everyone believes there is no need for excessive concern, then let us disperse.”

The elders acknowledged the order and gradually departed.

The hall soon returned to silence.

Wu Changan sat alone in the main seat, lifted his teacup, and took a sip while gazing toward the skies outside the hall.

That great expert…

He truly was a calming pillar of reassurance.

It was only unknown how much longer this great expert would remain within the Spirit Realm.

Forget it. Thinking too much was useless.

They could only take things one step at a time.

......

Time passed swiftly, and another five years flashed by.

The situation within the Spirit Realm unfolded in a way that exceeded everyone’s expectations.

After establishing his nation within the Northern Plains, Burning Heaven Demon Venerable did not expand aggressively as everyone had anticipated.

He firmly guarded the Northern Plains, neither advancing eastward nor heading south.

The grand declarations about reclaiming the Central Lands and reclaiming the Eastern Continent sounded earth-shaking, yet no actual action ever followed.

For five entire years, the territory of the Burning Heaven Dynasty did not expand outward by even an inch.

The righteous forces outside the Northern Plains gradually shifted from initial full vigilance, to watchful suspicion, and finally to complete familiarity.

Some said Burning Heaven Demon Venerable was strong on the outside but weak within, and that establishing the nation had already exhausted him.

Others said he was accumulating strength and waiting for the right opportunity.

Still others claimed he never intended to wage war at all and merely wanted to find a place in the Northern Plains to peacefully spend his later years.

Opinions differed wildly, with no consensus.

But one thing was certain.

For the moment, the Spirit Realm would not descend into war.

And Burning Heaven Demon Venerable himself was currently seated within a palace in the Northern Plains demonic city, his expression gloomy.

He did not understand.

As the dignified Burning Heaven Demon Venerable, a peerless figure who had once swept across the Central Lands and Eastern Continent one hundred thousand years ago, why was he now forced to remain trapped within this bitterly cold land without advancing even a single step?

He had asked that voice.

The voice that had occupied his mind ever since the moment of his revival.

That voice told him: now was not yet the time.

Burning Heaven Demon Venerable instantly became furious.

Not yet the time?

Then when exactly would it be the right time?

Did the dignified Burning Heaven Demon Venerable really need others to teach him how to act?

He cursed furiously at empty space, questioning who the other party truly was and what right they had to order him around.

In response, that voice recited a demonic incantation.

Burning Heaven Demon Venerable only felt as though countless thunderbolts exploded within his mind, while his internal organs churned violently.

The pain caused him to roll around on the ground, tears and mucus streaming uncontrollably. There was not the slightest trace of a Demon Venerable’s dignity remaining.

When the incantation finally ended, he collapsed onto the ground, drenched in cold sweat.

From that day onward, he no longer dared to disobey that voice.

He could only obediently address the other party as Master.

And at this very moment, that Master sat cross-legged within a demonic palace somewhere in the Immortal Realm, surrounded by demonic qi.

It was precisely Primordial Infinite World-Destroying Heaven-Executing Great Demon Venerable.

This Great Demon Venerable, whose title was so overbearingly grand, currently sat with eyes closed in contemplation.

He clearly remembered how the chess piece he had placed in the form of Myriad Tribulations Demon Lord had originally managed the Spirit Realm perfectly well, only for everything to be ruined by that demon bull.

What concerned him even more was that the chess piece belonging to that demon bull had also been destroyed by someone else.

Even now, he had not discovered exactly which Immortal King had secretly killed that demon bull’s chess piece.

Then again, the grand chessboard of the Spirit Realm had never belonged solely to him or that demon bull.

And now, all sides were lying low and waiting for the proper moment.

Thus, after activating Burning Heaven Demon Venerable, this backup chess piece, he did not rush to let him slaughter recklessly everywhere.

Instead, he ordered him to remain within the Northern Plains for now.

To wait until the Spirit Realm became even more chaotic.

To wait until the chess pieces of the other Immortal Kings also surfaced.

And then see who would ultimately laugh last and obtain that thing they desired most.
