Chapter 436: Chapter 436: What Am I, an Esteemed VIP, Not Allowed to Hear?
Milton Lambert was stunned for a moment. When he recovered, he gave a knowing smile. "So, besides that, what else have you figured out?"
"I have indeed seen a few things, but I need to make one thing clear beforehand..."
"What is it?"
"Peeking into someone’s fate can involve their privacy. I can guarantee that every word I say is the truth, but... Lambert, are you sure you want me to reveal everything I know about your family in front of all these people?"
In Arabella Donovan’s view, people in the entertainment industry were very protective of their privacy.
While there were exceptions who deliberately used their private lives for publicity, based on the information Sheldon Webb had given her, Milton Lambert probably wasn’t someone who liked others revealing too much about his family life with his wife.
Milton Lambert hadn’t actually considered that, and for a moment, he hesitated.
At the critical moment, another text message arrived from his wife, giving him the final push to have Arabella do the reading. And from the words of his family’s matriarch, it was clear she was even more curious about his reading than he was.
Milton Lambert: ’...’ ’So she’s just going to enjoy the drama from the sidelines, is she?’
"Um, my wife says it’s fine. We haven’t done anything wrong, so we have nothing to hide. It’s just..."
"It’s just, could you do me a favor and not reveal private information like my wife’s and my family backgrounds, or what she does for a living."
"Of course."
"Then that’s settled. Go ahead. If you’re accurate, I’ll give you a big red envelope, or..." Milton Lambert shot a meaningful glance in Hector Donovan’s direction, his implication obvious.
Hector Donovan: ’...’ ’Damn it. That familiar feeling... looks like I get to happily leech off my sister again.’
"You come from a scholarly family, born with a silver spoon in your mouth. From a young age, you had a special sensitivity to the written word, which meant you felt literary classics more deeply and understood them more profoundly than others. Because of this, your family’s elders placed high hopes on you and prioritized your education from the start."
"Unexpectedly, when you came of age, you went behind your family’s back and applied to the directing program at Alvane University’s School of the Arts. This enraged the old man of the house. He immediately froze all your bank cards, kicked you out, and declared that if you didn’t retake your exams and change your major, he would disown you."
At first, Milton Lambert didn’t think much of her words, but as she continued, his expression turned serious.
Only a few close relations knew about the falling out he’d had with his father over his university application, and none of them were people he knew from the industry.
"You were young and reckless back then, and not one to admit defeat. So you ignored your father’s warnings and threats, resolutely choosing the school and major that interested you. After that, you had a falling-out with your family. Although things have eased up over the years, your relationship has never returned to what it once was."
Hearing this, Milton Lambert’s hands, hanging by his sides, tightened unconsciously.
Seeing this, Arabella Donovan stood up and beckoned to him. The two of them moved to the side, away from the cameras, covered their microphones, and exchanged a few whispered words.
This action sent the live chat into an uproar.
[What is this that a distinguished VIP like me isn’t allowed to hear? I, with my esteemed membership status, demand that you pan the camera over right now! I want to hear their whispered! secrets!]
[I thought you promised you wouldn’t hide things from us! I treated you like a sister, and you treat me like dirt. The cold wind blows across my face; my sister’s betrayal breaks my heart. I’m warning you, if you don’t console me right now, I’m really going to unfollow!]
[The top donor is very angry! The consequences will be severe!]
[...]
At this moment, the live chat was filled with the wails and howls of the miserable audience, who couldn’t get the full scoop. It was a tale so sad it would make anyone weep.
However, the culprits responsible for all this were completely oblivious and heartless!
After hearing what Arabella Donovan told him, a rare look of dazed shock appeared on Milton Lambert’s face.
’What did she mean, "Your father actually came to accept you a long time ago, he’s just too stubborn to admit it and make up with you"?’
’What did she mean, "Your father is also your loyal fan. He’s watched every series you’ve ever written or adapted, including the one you were kicked off of recently after that falling-out with the producer. Your dad, using a sock puppet account, went after the production team and flamed them online for three straight days"?’
’What did she mean, "Your father loves to re-read the breakout trilogy you wrote in your early years, but he’d never admit it, to save face. He even keeps a tablet hidden in his bedroom so no one finds out, staying up late at night to secretly binge-watch the shows you wrote"?’
’I must be hearing things. That’s what I must be doing. My stern, old-fashioned, my-way-or-the-highway, dinosaur of a father? No way! It has to be fake!’
Arabella Donovan knew they couldn’t stay off-camera for too long, so she quickly led a dazed-looking Milton Lambert back to the group.
Although the others were also quite curious about what she’d told Milton Lambert, none of them pressed the issue.
Having finished discussing Milton Lambert’s father, Arabella Donovan quickly returned to the main topic. "You started trying your hand at independent writing and directing in your sophomore year, and in the second semester, you successfully tested the waters with your debut short film, which you wrote and directed yourself. In your junior year, thanks to being in the right place at the right time, you got to work with a famous director who had an eye for talent. That collaboration resulted in the first television series you wrote independently, and it made you an overnight sensation."
"This proved that your choice back then was the right one. You truly have a gift for screenwriting. As a result, your career luck has always been excellent—in the past, in the present, and in the future. Though you’ll face setbacks, you will always meet benefactors who help you turn misfortune into good fortune."
By now, Milton Lambert had recovered from his earlier shock. Hearing Arabella Donovan’s words, he broke into a wide, deeply satisfied grin.
"May your good words come true! May your good words come true!"
"Now that we’ve covered you, let’s talk about your wife. Your ’marriage palace’ is bright and full, which indicates that you and your wife are a match made in heaven. You two are childhood sweethearts who grew up together. Your families are of similar standing, and you are equals in ability. You’ve supported each other all these years, and there are no major issues in your relationship."
When Milton Lambert heard Arabella Donovan mention his wife, a goofy, priceless smile spread across his face.
The mention of their mutual support reminded him of how his wife had secretly supported him financially after his father had kicked him out of the house.
"During your zodiac birth year, be extra careful of unwanted admirers who throw themselves at you. Don’t be fooled by appearances—this goes for both you and your wife. However, as long as you both remain resolute, any deception will only be temporary and most likely won’t affect your marriage."
Milton Lambert, however, shivered instinctively and rushed to make a swearing gesture at the livestream camera. "No, no, no! I swear, I will never be tempted by any of those seductive vixens out there! I will only love my wife for the rest of my life, until death do us part!"
’As for any unwanted admirers bothering my wife, that’s even less of a worry. If one shows up, I’ll take them down. If two show up, I’ll take down the pair. I’ll never give them the slightest chance to get near my wife!’
