I Read Their Tragic Fates, and My Family Reads My Mind?

Chapter 117: Wielding a Sword to Sever the Peach Blossoms

Chapter 117: Chapter 117: Wielding a Sword to Sever the Peach Blossoms

Arabella Donovan hadn’t expected her sister to still remember to get justice for her, even now. It instantly took her back to their first meeting, and she couldn’t help but break into a wide, toothy grin.

Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain couldn’t help but sigh in relief. They were incredibly grateful for this outcome and immediately shot their foolish son a meaningful look.

Simon Chamberlain’s face flushed red. He looked at Arabella Donovan and mumbled, "I’m sorry."

Arabella Donovan blinked. A thought seemed to strike her, and she suddenly smiled.

"There’s no need to apologize, really. What’s that saying? Don’t judge what you don’t understand. Didn’t you say I was just faking it with all this hocus pocus? Well then, I’ll give you a free reading."

Hearing this, the members of the Donovan and Lynch families all watched her with looks of curiosity and amusement, eager to see what she was up to.

Mr. and Mrs. Chamberlain, however, grew tense. They were afraid Arabella Donovan would say something unfavorable about their son. And if she did, their choice would be to believe her... or to believe her.

"Mr. Chamberlain, your eyebrows are overly thick, and your temples are slightly sunken. This means you feel things very deeply, but you’re also easily led astray by your emotions, making you prone to toxic relationships. Coincidentally, the Star of Integrity has entered your Palace of Spouses, clashing with the Star of Destruction. When one baleful star meets another, the misfortune is magnified. What might have been a simple romantic calamity has become a deadly romantic curse."

The moment she finished speaking, the expressions of everyone present became... complicated.

It was perfectly clear to everyone who Arabella Donovan was referring to with her talk of a "romantic calamity" and a "deadly romantic curse."

Because they knew, they couldn’t bring themselves to say she was wrong. And yet, to admit her reading was accurate seemed utterly absurd.

Simon Chamberlain opened his mouth, then closed it, then looked like he wanted to try again. His face was flushed crimson, a sight that brought Arabella Donovan immense satisfaction.

’Hahaha, I knew it. I just love this look on you all—the one where you can’t stand me but are powerless to do anything about it.’

The Donovan family couldn’t help but shake their heads and smile faintly. The little girl was as vengeful as ever, but that was a good thing. At least she wouldn’t be easily bullied.

While everyone else was fixated on whether Arabella’s reading was accurate, Mrs. Chamberlain was focused on her son’s safety.

She was like Rochelle Rowland—she didn’t really care who her child fell for or how they went about their relationships, as long as things didn’t go too far.

But after this incident, she wanted nothing more than to keep a wide berth from Cassandra Lynch; ideally, she never wanted to hear that name again.

"So how can we break this curse?"

Arabella Donovan gave Mrs. Chamberlain an appreciative look, stroking her chin. "Since this curse was caused by a toxic romance, all you have to do is take a sword and slash the blossom away. Then everything will be fine."

’Heh heh, this is what you call turning her own tricks against her. Isn’t Cassandra Lynch good at manipulating these small-fry to do her bidding? I’ll save them one by one. I’d like to see if she can remain so calm and continue pulling the strings from behind the scenes after all her little fish are set free.’

Aurora Donovan watched with great interest. This little sister of hers looked so innocent, but was actually full of mischief. She found the little rascal more and more interesting—way more fun than the inflexible old sticks-in-the-mud at home. They would definitely have a lot to talk about!

Justin Donovan saw right through her little scheme and frowned. "Tone it down," he warned. "Don’t go scaring Serena."

Aurora Donovan gave a grin that just begged to be punched. "Listen to yourself. Am I that kind of person?"

Justin Donovan shot her a glare. His expression said it all: ’Yes. In my eyes, you are exactly that kind of person.’

Aurora Donovan: "..."

"So we just need to ’slash the blossom,’ and that’s all? We don’t have to do anything else?"

"Yes, just slashing the blossom is enough. However..."

Mrs. Chamberlain’s heart leaped into her throat. "However what?"

"As I just said, Mr. Chamberlain is a very passionate man. That’s his virtue, but it’s also his weakness. As his parents, you should pay more attention to his romantic life, to prevent him from running into any other toxic romances in the future."

Arabella Donovan was clearly, if tactfully, reminding Mrs. Chamberlain that her son was prone to foolishness and easily tricked by women.

You’ll have to watch him more carefully from now on. Otherwise, you’ll cut ties with one Cassandra Lynch, only for a Cassandra Aldridge or a Cassandra Quinn to pop up...

Mrs. Chamberlain understood. The corner of her mouth twitched. She glanced at her son, whose expression was completely clueless, the two words "utterly naive" practically written on his face. She let out a long, melancholic sigh.

Simon Chamberlain: "???" ’No, Mom, this whole thing was just an accident! I’m really not that stupid, honest!’

Unfortunately, by this point, nobody was willing to believe a word he said.

With the matter perfectly resolved, the Chamberlain family of three were too embarrassed to stay any longer. They hastily thanked Arabella Donovan, said their farewells to the Donovans, and took their leave.

After sending the troublemakers on their way, the Donovan family could finally have a proper talk with this family of uninvited guests.

As the hosts, Mr. and Mrs. Donovan exchanged a glance, and Mr. Donovan spoke first. "And you are...?"

Mr. Lynch, as the head of his family, quickly stepped forward. "My name is Lynch. From Jarden."

"So you’re Mr. Lynch. And the Mr. Lynch on Eloise’s DNA report... what is his relation to you?"

"Gideon and I are brothers. The two people on the paternity test with Eloise are my younger brother and his wife."

Mrs. Donovan nodded. "Then how did you get this report? Eloise, she..."

Mr. Lynch looked embarrassed but answered truthfully. "My son found Eloise’s hair clip at a party. He took it upon himself to use a hair from the clip for a DNA test against samples my younger brother and his wife had left at the hospital years ago."

Miss Lynch, also afraid the Donovans—especially Eloise—would mistake them for being pushy, selfish hypocrites, quickly added an explanation. "We know it was wrong to test her DNA with Gideon and Rona’s without getting Eloise’s consent first, but we were just so desperate to find out her connection to our family. Mr. and Mrs. Donovan, you might not be aware, but Eloise looks almost identical to how my sister-in-law looked when she was younger. And all three of them happened to have been born at the same hospital..."

’How could I not know?’ Mrs. Donovan thought. ’Not only did I find out before you, I know far more than you do!’

But what she said out loud was, "Oh, is that so? Eloise, is what she’s saying true?"

"It’s true. I do look very similar to that Mrs. Lynch."

"It was because of the resemblance that Zane—that is, your cousin—couldn’t resist inviting you to our home the moment he met you."

As Miss Lynch embellished the story, the sequence of events changed. Now, it was that the moment Zane Lynch first saw Eloise Donovan at his company, he was utterly stunned by her, and had fervently invited her to a private dinner party hosted by Miss Lynch herself.

At the party, everyone acquainted with Gideon Lynch and Rona Sullivan was surprised by Eloise Donovan’s appearance. When they learned that she and Cassandra Lynch were not only born in the same hospital but that she had also just recently been involved in a switched-at-birth incident, their imaginations began to run wild.

"So you took Eloise’s hair, had it tested against your brother and his wife’s DNA, and ended up with this result."

"Yes."

Mrs. Donovan said no more, turning instead to look at Eloise Donovan.

Eloise Donovan pursed her lips, her voice hoarse. "But that night, you told me Mr. Lynch and Ms. Sullivan had passed away young and left no DNA samples behind."

"That’s because Cassandra was there at the time."

Eloise Donovan raised an eyebrow, her tone pointed. "So, you were worried my existence would hurt her?"
