I Married the President
Chapter 745: Don’t Talk to Me for the Next Seven Days
Chapter 745: Chapter 745: Don’t Talk to Me for the Next Seven Days
Adrian Quincy said in a deep voice, "We’ll see how you’re recovering in a month and decide then."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
-
For the next month, Claire Sinclair barely set foot outside, staying home for her postpartum confinement. Aside from eating, drinking, and sleeping, she spent the rest of her time taking care of the baby.
Forty-two days passed in the blink of an eye. Following her doctor’s advice, Claire Sinclair went to the hospital for a check-up, and the results showed that everything was normal.
Claire Sinclair couldn’t wait to share the good news with the Great Demon King Quincy, but he just said over the phone, "We’ll talk after you weigh more than 102 pounds."
Claire Sinclair immediately protested, "That’s not what you said a month ago!"
Adrian Quincy said gravely, "If going back on my word helps your body recover, then I’d rather break my promise just this once."
Even though she had passed her 42-day postpartum check-up, his mother had called him that morning. She told him that Claire had been complaining about back pain recently, especially when trying to stand up from a sitting position—she almost always had to do it hunched over.
Even lifting a simple chair would make her back ache for ages.
His mother mentioned that she’d gone through the same thing after giving birth to him; her back had ached for two months before it finally healed on its own.
’With Claire’s health like this, how could he possibly bear to let her go back to work?’
Claire Sinclair, unaware that her husband had already discovered her secret, was seething. "I’ve decided to give you the silent treatment for a week! Don’t talk to me for the next seven days!"
Adrian Quincy ignored her protest and smoothly changed the subject. "I have a business trip to Country K tomorrow. I’ll be abroad for the next month. Is there anything you want to say to me?"
’That’s right,’ she thought. ’He just took office. State visits abroad are a mandatory part of the job for any new president, and in the past, they always brought their wives along.’
To use his own words—
’Strictly speaking, his wife should be accompanying him on this state visit.’
’But I’m a little reluctant, and the Great Demon King Quincy probably wouldn’t have the heart to make me rush around so soon after my confinement period, so...’
Claire Sinclair’s attitude did a complete one-eighty. With a beaming smile, she said, "Be careful traveling all by yourself, okay? I’ll take good care of myself at home and definitely won’t sneak off to work. I’ll be waiting for you to get back."
The man on the other end of the line was silent for a long moment before finally saying, "Come to The Presidential Palace and keep me company tonight."
"Huh?" Claire Sinclair was stunned. "I can’t. I’m... not over that yet."
Adrian Quincy’s brow furrowed slightly. "Where did your mind go? I need your help with something, and it’s not in bed."
Her face flushing, Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath, ’Well, it’s your fault for being so vague. That’s why I misunderstood.’
"I’ll come pick you up later. Talk then."
CLICK...
The call ended.
A wave of disappointment washed over Claire Sinclair. Since taking office, he had only come home once, and that was just to grab something. He hadn’t even stayed for half an hour.
He had just stepped into this new role, and she knew he was incredibly busy with countless things to handle. As his wife, she was very understanding, but her heart ached for him all the same.
’I wonder how long he’ll be this busy...’
’I really miss him.’
-
At dinnertime, Claire Sinclair was only able to sit down and eat after she had lulled the baby to sleep.
Her in-laws had been staying with them recently. Her mother-in-law was there to help take care of her, and her father-in-law would occasionally help watch the baby.
Although her days were cozy, Claire Sinclair still felt a sense of disappointment.
’That guy,’ she thought. ’He promised he’d come pick me up tonight, but it’s already dinnertime, and he’s still not here.’
