Chapter 707: Get Out of My Way If You Don’t Want Your Cameras Smashed

  • Next Chapter

Half an hour later, an ambulance arrived in Evergreen Garden and stopped in front of Claire Sinclair’s house.

A paramedic hurried out of the ambulance, pushing a gurney. He was about to knock on the door when the two guards outside stopped him. “Who sent you?”

“We received an emergency call. Someone here had a seizure and collapsed. Please, let us through!”

The guards hesitated.

The paramedic snapped, “If something happens to the person inside, can you handle the consequences?”

That threat was all it took. The guards, now frightened, quickly stood aside.

The doorbell rang. Helen Wallace answered it, and the paramedic walked inside. She intentionally left the door open.

The two guards seized the opportunity to peek inside. All they could see was a pair of feet next to the sofa; they couldn’t make out who was lying on the floor. The paramedic carefully lifted her onto the gurney.

At that moment, Helen Wallace draped a blanket over the patient and said, “Paramedic, take the Young Madam to the hospital. I’ll bring her clothes over shortly.”

“Alright, please be quick.” The paramedic promptly wheeled the patient out, and Faye Dean followed behind.

As they passed the doorway, the guards saw Claire Sinclair on the gurney. The blanket concealed her pregnancy, but her face was deathly pale, and she was clearly unconscious.

And just like that, Claire Sinclair was loaded into the ambulance. Faye Dean, accompanying her as a family member, climbed in as well, and the ambulance drove away.

“We should follow them and check it out,” one of the guards said.

“Right!” The other guard ran to the side of the road, got into a car, and sped after the ambulance.

A short while later, Helen Wallace emerged from the house with a stuffed backpack, walking out at a calm, unhurried pace.

As she reached the gate to the courtyard, a crowd of reporters swarmed her.

“Excuse me, was that Claire Sinclair who was just put in the ambulance?”

“What’s wrong with Claire Sinclair?”

“Who was the pregnant woman with Claire Sinclair in the ambulance?”

“…”

Faced with the swarm of nosy reporters, Helen Wallace put on a panicked and impatient act. “Our Young Madam suddenly had a seizure and passed out! Please get out of my way, I need to bring her some clothes.”

“And what about the pregnant woman who went with her? We heard she’s Young Master Quincy’s mistress. Is there any truth to that?”

‘Mistress???’

Helen Wallace couldn’t believe their ridiculous imaginations. She snapped, “That’s the Young Madam’s personal maid. Her husband is away on assignment with no one to look after her, so our kind-hearted Young Madam is keeping her close and treating her like family. Any other questions?”

A reporter asked, “And who are you?”

Helen Wallace snapped, “I’m the Young Madam’s bodyguard. If you don’t want your cameras smashed, get the hell out of my way!”

Her intimidating presence instantly sent the reporters scattering.

Only then was Helen Wallace able to get away.

–

In reality.

The moment she was inside the ambulance, Claire Sinclair sat right up and threw herself into the arms of the man waiting for her…

A single, deep embrace said more than a thousand words ever could.

Thankfully, there was a paramedic in the ambulance, otherwise Faye Dean would have felt incredibly awkward.

‘Still, seeing her friend and husband so deeply in love, she was genuinely happy for Claire. When she thought about her own situation, though… well, comparison is the thief of joy.’

‘Her husband wouldn’t be out for another three years. By then, she worried her feelings for him might have faded.’

‘Theirs was a relationship that had never truly begun, and she had no confidence that a child alone could sustain it for a lifetime. But that was a problem for another day. She wouldn’t fret about it now.’

‘She glanced back at the reunited couple…’

‘They’d finished hugging and kissing, only to immediately start another round of sickeningly sweet PDA.’
