I Married the President
Chapter 619: Can’t Control Him
Chapter 619: Chapter 619: Can’t Control Him
Theo Rhodes looked utterly bewildered. "Mentor, Bonnie Yates isn’t my type."
A second later, he snapped to his senses and hastily corrected himself, "But Bonnie Yates is pretty cute. Maybe we’d be a good match. I have to seize the opportunity, lest Baby York gets preyed upon by some shameless big shot."
Henry Hartwell immediately shot them a dark look. "If you have something to say, say it. If not, get out."
Claire Sinclair said with a smile, "Teacher Hartwell, Theo Rhodes wants to investigate Woodforest Community and is asking for your opinion."
Surprisingly, Henry Hartwell had no objection, waving his hand dismissively. "If he wants to go, let him. If anything happens, it’s on you."
Claire Sinclair: "..."
Theo Rhodes: "..."
Henry Hartwell paused, then it suddenly dawned on him. "What? Woodforest Community?"
Claire Sinclair rolled her eyes. ’So he didn’t hear a single word I said.’ She said irritably, "Teacher Hartwell, I *was* talking about Woodforest Community."
Theo Rhodes quickly chimed in, "Yes, yes! Someone has to cover Woodforest Community."
Henry Hartwell frowned slightly. "Why would you two suddenly think of a place like that? It’s not an easy story to cover. You could get killed. It’s too dangerous."
Theo Rhodes looked completely fearless. "Editor Hartwell, the truth must be pursued. If we don’t take risks, how will we ever uncover it? Someone has to do it."
"Alright. I’ll go check it out myself tomorrow. If it looks manageable, I’ll give you the go-ahead."
Theo Rhodes almost jumped for joy when Hartwell agreed, but as he listened to the rest of the sentence, his face fell with disappointment.
Claire Sinclair said, "Teacher Hartwell, you’re going to go in person?"
Henry Hartwell said with a humorless smile, "One of you is the future first lady, and the other is the sole heir of the Rhodes Family. You think I’d dare let you two go?"
Claire Sinclair muttered under her breath, "You could have just said no. You don’t have to go yourself."
Henry Hartwell jutted his chin toward the eager Theo Rhodes. "Look at the fire in his eyes. If I don’t go scout it out first, he’ll sneak off on his own. That place has no access control; anyone can get in. I won’t be able to stop him."
Hearing this, Claire Sinclair turned to Theo Rhodes and raised an eyebrow. "Theo Rhodes, what are you planning?"
Theo Rhodes immediately relented. "Mentor, don’t worry. I absolutely won’t do anything rash until Editor Hartwell gives his approval!"
Claire Sinclair nodded. "If you can’t keep that promise, I’ll have Mr. Quincy step in and lock you in a training camp for a year or so. That shouldn’t be a problem."
Theo Rhodes was so scared his jaw nearly hit the floor. "Mentor, please don’t! I really don’t want to go to a place like that, just training day in and day out. It’s so boring."
Claire Sinclair said with a sweet smile, "Then just behave if you don’t want to go, understand?"
"I get it..." Theo Rhodes hung his head, clearly resentful.
Claire Sinclair looked up at Henry Hartwell, her expression worried. "Teacher Hartwell, are you going by yourself? Won’t it be dangerous?"
Henry Hartwell stretched and stood up. "Someone has to do it, so it might as well be me. If he gets into trouble, he might not make it out. I have a slightly better chance than he does."
Claire Sinclair said anxiously, "But it’s still dangerous! What if I ask Mr. Quincy to send a few people to go in with you?"
Henry Hartwell chuckled. "Matters of the pen are best solved without the sword."
’That’s true. After all, Quincy Manor and Astoria Daily are two separate entities. If I relied on Quincy Manor’s power too often, it would inevitably cause talk.’
With that in mind, Claire Sinclair could only drop the idea of asking for help. "Alright then, Teacher Hartwell. Please be careful."
Henry Hartwell yawned, said nothing more, and walked out of the office.
Theo Rhodes immediately went to close the door, then grabbed Claire Sinclair by the sleeve. "Mentor, what did you see before we came in? Quick, tell me!"
