Chapter 612: Chapter 612: You’re Mine Alone

Ayla Ryan, the assistant behind Lucas Rhodes, spoke up. "Sir, shall we head back?"

"It’s rare that we get out. Let’s go for a walk."

Ayla Ryan nodded and silently pushed his wheelchair out.

On their way, they passed down a long corridor lined with clothing stores on both sides.

Outside a children’s clothing store, a girl stood before the display window. Her hands rested on the glass, her dazed eyes fixed on a matching parent-child outfit inside.

Ivy Tanner just stood there blankly as her eyes gradually misted over. Her hand unconsciously came to rest on her lower abdomen.

’Of all people, it had to be his child... In this lifetime, I’ll probably never get to experience the warmth of a family, will I?’

’This child is the last straw I’m clinging to in life. After giving birth, it’ll be about time for me to go.’

’This time, I’ve made up my mind. I won’t hesitate anymore.’

’Ethan Kingsley, whether you can accept your child or not, I’m leaving. Leaving this chaotic world that I don’t belong to.’

As she dwelled on her hopeless future, Ivy Tanner’s tears finally streamed down her face.

Just then, Claire Sinclair came running over in a hurry with a few people in tow.

Claire Sinclair pulled her into a tight hug, crying as she scolded her, "Ivy Tanner, you listen to me! From now on, you are not allowed to run up to the rooftop, and you’re not allowed to just run off somewhere by yourself without a word. Do you hear me?!"

Ivy Tanner froze, her tears miraculously stopping. "How did you know I went to the rooftop?"

"Your dear friend here has some serious hacking skills! Come back with me!" Claire Sinclair grabbed her hand and forcefully led her away.

Ivy Tanner gave a helpless smile. ’This silly girl, why is she so worried about me?’

’So there really is genuine affection in this world...’

As the two of them disappeared into the stairwell, Lucas Rhodes approached from the other side in his wheelchair. He stopped beside the central elevators, looking down from his vantage point at the two girls holding hands in the first-floor lobby.

"Ayla Ryan, did you see that?"

"Yes. Third Miss Tanner doesn’t seem like a fool."

"A woman like that is marriageable, wouldn’t you say?"

Ayla Ryan looked down at him. "Sir, please make your own decision."

Lucas Rhodes turned his head back to meet his gaze. "If it were you, what would you choose?"

Ayla Ryan was silent for a moment before saying in a low voice, "I would probably marry her."

Lucas Rhodes chuckled. "You’re too driven by self-interest. You don’t leave yourself any choice."

Ayla Ryan didn’t continue the topic, simply saying, "It’s getting late. Shall we head back first?"

Lucas Rhodes nodded. "Let’s go back then."

Claire Sinclair personally escorted Ivy Tanner back to The Golden Brocade Palace and instructed the maids to keep a close eye on her.

Before leaving, Claire Sinclair didn’t tell Ivy Tanner that she had gone to see Lucas Rhodes. She only told her to stay put and not run off again.

Afterward, Claire Sinclair returned to the Astoria Daily Press, a dejected look on her face. She hadn’t managed to handle the matter well.

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Adrian Quincy: Mr. Quincy, I was rejected by Lucas Rhodes.

Adrian Quincy: Did he give you conditions?

Clairebear: How did you know?

Adrian Quincy: He wants to see me?

Clairebear: Mhm!!!

’That guy is way too smart!’

After a pause, Claire Sinclair couldn’t resist asking: Will you see him?

Adrian Quincy: No.

Clairebear: I don’t want you to see him either.

’After all, he’s a man who once pursued The Great Demon King Quincy. That makes him half a love rival. I can’t feel at ease letting The Great Demon King Quincy meet with a man like that.’

Adrian Quincy: Don’t have time to see him.

Clairebear: Even if you have time, I won’t let you see him. You’re all mine!

Adrian Quincy: Mmm.

Claire Sinclair let out a sigh of relief and typed again: Do you have anyone else you can introduce to Ivy Tanner?

Adrian Quincy: Can’t think of anyone more suitable for now.
