Chapter 81: Chapter 80: The path of the nameless Divine.
The Book of the Nameless?
What is this?
Chen Yuan had never heard of such a term before, neither in this life nor in his previous one.
For a moment, he searched through his memories, trying to figure out what the reward could possibly mean, but the longer he thought about it, the more unfamiliar it became.
Time passed without him realizing it, and his sudden silence eventually caught Chen Yueran’s attention. She stepped closer and tilted her head slightly, looking at him curiously.
"Father?"
"Yes?"
Her voice pulled Chen Yuan out of his thoughts.
Chen Feng also noticed his unusual silence and frowned slightly.
"What is it?"
Chen Yuan was momentarily at a loss for words. His gaze briefly returned to the system panel before he shook his head.
"It’s fine. I- I just have something I need to take care of."
He looked at the two of them.
"You two go ahead and prepare for the next steps. I’ll deal with this first."
Chen Feng studied him for a moment, seemingly wanting to ask more, but Chen Yuan had already turned away.
Without saying anything else, his figure gradually faded from sight.
A moment later, Chen Yuan reappeared inside the inheritance cave.
The moment his feet touched the ground, his expression became serious as he looked toward the system panel before him.
"What a strange reward..."
"Could it be a weapon?"
He considered the possibility for a moment, but quickly dismissed it. There was little point in continuing to guess. No matter how long he thought about it, he would not know the answer until he claimed the reward.
"The best way to find out is to claim it directly."
Chen Yuan made up his mind.
Before doing so, however, he turned toward the cavern walls and raised a hand.
An immense wave of spiritual energy immediately spread throughout the cave, sweeping across every corner. His divine sense followed the surge, thoroughly examining the entire area and leaving no corner unattended.
Only after he was certain that the cave was secure did Chen Yuan withdraw his spiritual energy.
His gaze returned to the system panel.
The reward was still waiting.
Chen Yuan took a slow breath and raised his hand toward it. For all he knew, it could be a cultivation technique, an inheritance, or even something completely unrelated to cultivation. He had no idea what the Book of the Nameless actually was.
"Here goes nothing."
His fingers crossed the final threshold.
He claimed it.
In the next instant, the light within the cave flickered.
It was not the floating fireflies that flickered. Rather, for that brief moment, it was as though the very fabric of light itself had trembled.
Chen Yuan frowned as a strange, suffocating sensation washed over him. It came and went almost instantly, leaving him wondering whether he had imagined it.
Then he felt something inside his divine mind.
What is this?
A strange book had appeared in the center of his divine mind. It seemed to be made from some kind of grey material, its surface dull and rough, yet Chen Yuan could not explain why simply looking at it made him feel uneasy.
He stared at it for a moment before slowly extending his divine consciousness toward it.
The instant his consciousness touched the book, it opened.
Chen Yuan’s vision was suddenly pulled inside.
An endless battlefield appeared before him.
The heavens were shattered. Mountains and worlds floated broken across an endless darkness, while countless figures fought beneath a sky that seemed to have been torn apart.
Blood flowed through the void like rivers, and fragments of laws drifted through the darkness like dying stars.
Then he heard a woman’s voice.
It was filled with panic and despair.
"The path beyond the sky has been broken!"
"The Dao has bled!"
"There are no more immortals!"
"There are no more immortals!"
The scene changed again and again. He saw shattered heavens, dying worlds, and countless cultivators falling from the sky.
Ancient figures disappeared beneath endless waves of darkness, while the same message continued to echo through every scene.
"The path beyond has been forcibly cut off..."
"The Dao has bled..."
"The heavens have been broken..."
"There are no more immortals..."
Chen Yuan could barely breathe.
The scenes moved too quickly for him to understand, yet every image carried an inexplicable weight that pressed against his mind.
His chest tightened, his heart pounded violently, and his eyes felt as though they were about to burst from their sockets. For a moment, it felt as though his entire body was being crushed beneath an invisible force.
Then the book closed.
Everything disappeared.
Chen Yuan’s consciousness was abruptly thrown back into his body as though it had been violently discarded.
His legs gave way and he collapsed onto the ground, breathing heavily as cold sweat covered his forehead. His chest rose and fell rapidly while he stared blankly at the ceiling of the inheritance cave.
For several seconds, he could not even move.
"What the hell... was that?"
Chen Yuan’s mind was still in a scramble, and it took him several moments to regain his bearings. He pushed himself upright, only to notice a book lying against his chest.
Boom!
Chen Yuan subconsciously released his spiritual energy, caught off guard by the sudden presence. But after sensing no immediate danger, he quickly withdrew it.
The book slipped from his chest and landed on the ground.
Chen Yuan slowly stood, his gaze fixed on it. A moment later, the book floated from the ground and hovered silently in front of him.
He stared at it with a lingering sense of unease.
"What is this...?"
He repeated the question, clearly disturbed by what he had just seen. This time, he was much more careful.
Chen Yuan extended his spiritual energy toward the book. At first, nothing happened, but as his energy wrapped around it, the book slowly lifted from the ground and drifted toward him.
He carefully drew it closer until he could finally hold it in his right hand. After placing the book before him, Chen Yuan took a deep breath and turned to the first page.
The page slowly unfolded.
There was no sudden pull on his vision this time, nor did anything strange happen to his consciousness. Instead, a string of information simply entered his mind.
It was related to the same message he had seen before, but this time, it was far more detailed.
[The path beyond has been cut off.]
[The Dao has bled, and the heavens have been broken.]
[Mortals cannot reach the immortal.]
[The immortal cannot reach the heavens.]
[The heavens cannot reach the Dao.]
[Darkness has descended, and eternal rain falls upon the broken world.]
Chen Yuan’s expression slowly became serious. But before he could comprehend the current message, another one followed.
[Forge your own path, create your own legacy and walk upon a new path. The Path of the Book Bearer.]
Chen Yuan stared at the words for a moment.
The Book Bearer...
Before he could think further, another wave of information entered his mind. This time, it explained the path itself.
[Book Bearer]
[The world has lost its path beyond the heavens, the old roads have been severed, and therefore, the Book Bearer shall carry the path within themselves and create new ones.]
Chen Yuan’s eyes narrowed as he continued reading.
More information followed.
[Refine the Nameless Organs.]
[The Nameless Hand.]
[The Nameless Eye.]
[The Nameless Heart.]
[The Nameless Bone.]
[The Nameless Blood.]
[The Nameless Tongue.]
[The Nameless Mind.]
[The Nameless Organs have no fixed form, no fixed attribute, and no fixed nature. What is nameless can become anything, what is nameless can take any form, what is nameless can possess any attribute and what is nameless is not bound by the limitations of ordinary anatomy.]
Chen Yuan stared at the information, his thoughts beginning to race. The concept was completely different from every cultivation method he had encountered before.
The Nameless Hand was not simply another hand. It could become whatever he needed it to be, a blade, a claw, a weapon, or even a massive hand capable of crushing something beneath its palm.
The same principle applied to the other organs.
The Nameless Eye could become an eye capable of seeing spiritual energy, formations, laws, or things hidden from ordinary perception.
The Nameless Heart could function as a spiritual furnace, a storage vessel, or something else entirely. Even the Nameless Bone could change its properties according to his needs.
The organs did not have to remain organs in the conventional sense, either.
Their form could be determined by him.
Their function could be determined by him.
Even their attributes could be changed according to what he needed.
There was only one limitation.
[The Nameless Organs are limited by the strength of the Book Bearer’s spiritual energy and divine consciousness.]
Chen Yuan fell silent.
So that was it.
The Nameless Organs were not truly without limits. Rather, they had no inherent limits. The restriction came from him.
His spiritual energy determined how much power the organs could possess, while his divine consciousness determined how precisely he could control them.
The stronger he became, the more possibilities the Nameless Organs would have.
Chen Yuan slowly lowered the book and slowly, a faint smile appeared on his face.
"This..."
He looked down at the grey book in his hand.
"Is actually quite interesting."
