Chapter 80: Chapter 79: The Book of the Nameless.

Chen Feng gave him a flat look.

"You were the one who chose to do this despite my warning..."

"I didn’t expect them to stand there for so long. These kids are quite attached to me..."

Chen Yuan brushed another clump of dirt from his sleeve and glanced toward the path where the three had disappeared. His expression gradually softened.

"Alas, Chen Yichen... I hope he will mature a bit..."

Chen Feng noticed the change in his expression and spoke.

"Wasn’t it too much, Chen Yuan? The boy’s spirit was almost broken, as though he had lost his entire world..."

His voice was not angry, but his intentions were clear, "You saw him. Despite this being a turning point in his life, I don’t want him to be mentally crippled by what happened."

Chen Yuan remained silent for a moment before waving his hand. His spiritual energy surged, dusting the remaining dirt from his clothes.

"I did."

"Then you know what you put them through."

Chen Yuan lowered his gaze toward the grave.

"I am well aware, Chen Feng."

Chen Feng sighed.

"Didn’t you see it, Chen Yuan? We probably went too far."

Chen Yuan looked back at him and shook his head.

"We taught them a very important lesson, and now... they’re brand new."

Chen Feng frowned slightly, but despite his unwillingness to accept it, Chen Yuan continued.

"They went in believing they were ready. They thought they could handle whatever they encountered because they had trained, fought, and survived before."

"The title of being geniuses of the clan had blinded them to the point of becoming overly confident. Didn’t you notice?"

"Blindly entering the house in the village despite not knowing your intentions. Sleeping there, eating there... How foolish can these children be?"

He paused for a moment.

"Now they know they aren’t immune to pain and suffering."

Chen Feng said nothing.

"They’ll rise after this setback," Chen Yuan continued. "Now that they’ve learned."

"They’ll remember what happened. The fear, the helplessness, the moment they realized they had gone too far. Next time they encounter something they don’t understand, they won’t blindly push forward."

Chen Yuan gave a small smile.

"That lesson will stay with them."

Chen Feng remained silent for a while.

"I understand what you were trying to accomplish. But understanding doesn’t mean I have to like it."

"The Yichen boy was almost completely broken. You could have stopped earlier."

"And I’m afraid the boy might have fallen for that fake persona of yours."

Chen Yuan did not deny it.

"Xiaoyu is now dead. There is nothing more for her to do except let them grow..."

Chen Feng looked at him.

"Aren’t you afraid the boy might turn into something we couldn’t foresee? There are too many variables, Chen Yuan."

Chen Yuan was quiet for several seconds.

"Don’t worry. As long as I am alive, I will guide our family to rise."

Chen Feng’s expression remained stern.

"There is a difference between teaching someone a lesson and nearly destroying them."

Chen Yuan lowered his eyes, and neither spoke for a while. The night wind moved through the trees, gently rustling the grass around the grave.

Chen Yuan finally crouched beside it and placed his palm against the soil. Slowly, a faint spiritual fluctuation spread outward from his fingertips.

The small disturbance caused by his emergence gradually disappeared, the earth settling back into place until the grave looked untouched.

He stood and brushed the remaining dirt from his hands.

"At least I can finally stop pretending to be Xiaoyu."

His appearance began to change.

The silver hair gradually returned to its original color. His facial features shifted, and the petite figure he had maintained for so long slowly disappeared as his true appearance returned.

Once the transformation was complete, Chen Yuan retrieved a fresh set of robes from his storage space and changed out of the dirt-covered clothing. He adjusted his sleeves, rolled his shoulders, and let out a satisfied breath.

"Much better."

Chen Feng glanced at him.

"How does it feel?"

Chen Yuan looked toward the grave.

"Strange."

His voice was quieter.

"I spent so long pretending to be her that it almost feels strange to stop."

Chen Feng did not answer.

Chen Yuan stared at the grave for a little longer.

At the same time, something else was going on inside Chen Feng’s mind. Chen Feng wanted to say something, but in the end, he remained silent.

There was nothing obviously wrong with Chen Yuan. His expression was calm, his movements were natural. Yet Chen Feng could not shake the feeling that something had changed.

Perhaps it had been happening slowly, so slowly that no one had noticed.

Chen Yuan had always been willing to make decisions for the family. He carried the responsibility of guiding the younger generation, and Chen Feng understood that.

But lately, it seemed as though Chen Yuan was becoming increasingly detached from the people he was trying to guide.

Chen Feng’s gaze remained on him.

Have you already started walking down that path, Chen Yuan?

He did not mean the path of power.

It was something else, something... strange that he had once heard from Chen Yan.

A path where one slowly separated themselves from everyone else, standing higher and higher until the people below could no longer be seen as equals.

The path of a god.

The thought came naturally this time.

Chen Feng had never called Chen Yuan that before. But as he looked at him now, the title suddenly felt strangely appropriate.

The God of Fireflies.

Not because Chen Yuan was a god. But because Chen Feng feared that he was slowly beginning to act like one.

Someone who stood above the others and watched. Someone who believed that because he could see further, he had the right to decide everything for those beneath him.

Chen Feng’s expression became heavier.

If you continue like this... what happens when you become completely detached from them?

What happens when their pain becomes nothing more than a necessary step in your plans?

And eventually...

What happens when you can no longer remember why you started doing all of this in the first place?

Chen Feng said nothing. He did not know whether Chen Yuan had noticed the change himself.

But that was what frightened Chen Feng the most.

He was afraid that one day, Chen Yuan would look back and realize that somewhere along the way, he had stopped being the person who wanted to protect the family.

And by then, he might not even recognize himself anymore.

Chen Feng raised a hand, as though he was about to say something.

But before he could speak, the air beside them rippled.

Both of them turned toward it at the same time.

A beautiful woman stepped out of the distortion as naturally as if she had simply walked through an open doorway. Her long hair was loosely tied behind her back, while she wore a light, flowing robe decorated with delicate patterns that gave her an almost leisurely appearance.

It was difficult to tell whether she had actually chosen the outfit for the occasion or simply felt like wearing something different today.

Chen Feng lowered his raised hand and gave her a small nod.

"Yueran..."

"Heyyy..."

Chen Yueran smiled with her eyes slightly narrowed, then placed both hands on her hips as she looked toward Chen Yuan.

"You are back. I thought you were having so much fun playing around that you never wanted to come back, Father."

Chen Yuan’s expression twitched.

It lasted for barely a moment before his face returned to normal.

"I am done playing around. The tomb has been fully realized, and its credibility has increased. Chen Yan is already guarding it, so we should move on to the next steps."

"Awww..."

Yueran’s expression immediately became a little disappointed.

"Can I play other characters too? I want to perform as well."

Chen Yuan glanced at her.

"If you want to make adjustments to the script, don’t go overboard. Just make sure the main elements remain untouched."

"Hmmm..."

Chen Yueran rubbed her chin, already looking as though she was considering several possibilities.

Chen Feng watched her for a moment before turning his attention back to Chen Yuan.

"Then what about Zhao Lianyu and Zhao Linger?"

Chen Yuan looked toward him.

"The two of them are still part of the plan, aren’t they? I remember you said they would be included in the larger scheme surrounding the tomb’s resurfacing."

Chen Feng’s expression became thoughtful.

"Yes. Their roles are important. If the tomb suddenly appears without any connection to the outside world, it would attract too much suspicion. Zhao Lianyu and Zhao Linger can serve as one of the first links between the tomb and the forces that will eventually come looking for it."

Chen Yuan nodded.

"Then nothing has changed."

He glanced toward Yueran.

"We just need to make sure their involvement feels natural. The tomb’s appearance should look like something that happened on its own, not something that was deliberately arranged for them."

Yueran’s eyes immediately brightened.

"So they get to play important characters too?"

Chen Yuan gave her a sideways glance.

"They are not playing characters."

Yueran paused.

"...They’re playing characters without knowing it?"

Chen Yuan was silent for a moment.

"Something like that."

Yueran smiled.

"I like this plan."

Chen Yuan smiled at her response, and without allowing either of them to say anything else, he waved his hand. A panel appeared before his eyes.
