I Just Wanted Friends, But My Summons Keep Eating the Bosses (ND)
Chapter 183: Rango’s Death
The Manticore backed up and swiped again. Night manipulated the Wind of Desolation to remain firmly in the air as if he were standing on solid ground, pushing his palm toward the incoming claw while making the Wind of Desolation spiral in his hand.
Clash! Boom!
This time, the Manticore was pushed ten steps back. The lightning coat covering its body was battered as the Wind of Desolation tore across it like the Manticore was caught in the middle of a tornado.
However, Night was not unscathed this time.
Night felt the urge to vomit blood as stray lightning tore through his internal organs.
The Manticore had managed to bypass the Nightmare Mist covering his body. This Demigod monster was clearly a lot stronger than the others, which also explained why it had managed to reach them despite the ‘Spatial Disorder’ array.
Sara quickly cast a healing spell on Night, and he felt warmth seep into his body as his injuries healed at a visible rate.
The Manticore saw this and roared. Huge amounts of lightning gathered in its stinger and shot straight at Night.
’Lightning Detonation.’
The Nightmare Mist around him shifted and took the form of the mouth, ‘Absolute Counter.’
The ‘Absolute Counter’ mouth widened, swallowed the ‘Lightning Detonation’ in one bite, and snapped shut.
The Manticore looked confused. Then its eyes widened as ‘Absolute Counter’ opened again, this time making a spitting motion.
The ‘Lightning Detonation’ was returned right back to the Manticore like a wad of spit.
Boom!
The surroundings brightened as the attack went off. Caught completely off guard, the Manticore was hit squarely by its own attack.
Its lightning coat vanished, and most of its flesh was heavily damaged. To Night, the air suddenly smelled like burnt, rotten flesh.
To the side, While this happened Night checked on Sara, through his Nightmare Domain, Night saw that Sara had pinned down the humanoid goat with a large number of ‘Mythril Spears,’ which appeared to work remarkably well against it.
Furthermore, the other monsters had now begun fighting amongst themselves, making him sigh in relief.
These Demigod monsters were never friends to begin with, and when they got “provoked” by another Demigod monster crashing into them, they returned the provocation tenfold.
Down below, The people in the Dream City below felt a deep sense of unease when they saw the sky filled with terrifying monsters. Each one of them gave off an aura that could crush a mortal just by being near them.
Unfortunately, the Demigod monsters, Night, and Sara didn’t have the time to care about their uneasiness.
While they wondered about the uncertain future, The Manticore and Night clashed again in hand-to-claw combat above them.
It was a pure physical fight with a tinge of Wind and Lightning.
While to others it looked like lightning and the Wind of Desolation coloring the sky as they both tried to kill the other.
Night used a black root to hold it in place, but the Manticore, aware of its danger, dodged, disappearing in a flash before reappearing directly above him and clawing down.
Night ducked, dodging the attack by a hair’s breadth, and then used his flies to fire Death Rays at it. This forced the Manticore to dodge as well, though it was still hit by a couple of stray Death Rays firing from random directions.
The Death Rays poked miniature holes into its body. While the damage was not fatal, it caused tremendous pain to the monster.
The Manticore then turned into a bolt of lightning and charged at Night. Night dodged by pulling back, but the lightning relentlessly chased him. Night used the Wind of Desolation to enhance his speed, and the two of them chased and attacked each other across the sky.
They clashed like forces of nature, wind and lightning colliding to determine which was superior. Night used everything he had trained with [Dream], except for Soul Burn.
Being surrounded by arrays created by Sara was not a good place to use that attack, as he would likely cause damage to her indirectly. And the poor Sara had already experienced her fair share of Soul Damage before and he didn’t feel like jogging those memories back again.
The fight continued, and the clash between the Manticore and Night reached its peak.
The Manticore was beaten black and blue while Night barely had a few scratches on him. [Dream’s] training hadn’t been in wane, while he was still unable to touch even the healm of her clothes his progress was nothing to scoff at. To the Manticore he was basically a big bully wearing a child’s body.
Just when Night thought it was going to be another easy win, he finally slipped up.
This time, the Manticore attacked Night directly with its stinger. Night dashed back to dodge, but before he could fully clear it, the stinger suddenly elongated, following him and cutting deep into his torso.
The stinger dug a hole right through the middle of his body though Night’s though body ensure it didn’t fully piece though.
Night tried to devour the stinger, but the stinger released a surge of lightning point blank to repel the Nightmare Mist and stunning him in the process. He finally experience what humans in the past experienced when they accidentally touched a live wire but on a whole different scale
“YAAAGH!!!”
”Night!!!” Sara screamed. She tried to attack the Manticore, but the humanoid goat suddenly burst with power, destroying all the Mythril Spears pinning it down.
A huge storm gathered around its body and attacked Sara from all directions, forcing her to defend herself.
Night felt intense pain; the stinger had lodged into him like a fork into a piece of meat.
Then he felt a potent venom flood into his system, making him go numb. He tried to regain control of his body, but failed, his system was fully flooded with poison that had already started corroding him from the inside.
Sign, Night. This was his first time fighting in mid-air and he was still clumsy; he hadn’t expected it to end up like this.
The Manticore retracted its stinger, pulling Night’s body along with it.
As Night’s body neared its jaws, the Manticore opened its mouth to eat him half roasted half posioned under the horrified gaze of Sara.
Suddenly, a silver sword cut straight through the array and reached the Manticore before it could even process what was happening.
Slash!
The head of the Manticore was cleanly severed and fell, splashing its blood and organs toward Night.
Fortunately, the Nightmare Mist devoured the gore before it could drench him.
Night’s body fell from the sky like a puppet with its strings cut. He was still heavily poisoned, and just because the Manticore died didn’t mean he could get away scot-free after escaping the fate of becoming a snack.
At the same moment, a massive hammer literally teleported beside the humanoid goat, smashing it into meat paste.
That put an end to the humanoid goat that had just managed to get an upper hand against Sara after being bullied all this time.
Finally free, Sara blinked over to Night and caught his falling body.
She noticed he was alive, though heavily poisoned by a neurotoxin. She quickly cast a healing spell to counteract the venom, looking up to see that Arthur and Jeffy had returned.
Both of them were releasing terrifying auras that made all the nearby Demigod monsters stop their infighting and look at them warily.
Held by Sara, Night observed them using his Nightmare Domain.
Arthur now felt less like a human and more like an unsheathed sword. The same was true for Jeffy, he felt like a giant hammer larger than the sky itself.
”Leave the rest to me,” Arthur said. He raised his sword, and the world stilled, as if one wrong move could mean instant death.
A terrifying sword intent poured out of his body, expanding for hundreds of kilometers to cover both the city and the surrounding forest.
Everyone within range felt as if their lives were now entirely in Arthur’s hands.
Well, everyone except Rango. Watching from afar with Night’s other clone, he simply scoffed and covered their group with his own aura. The sharp sword intent passed harmlessly over them like a gentle breeze the moment it touched his aura.
Vance muttered, “Those guys feel way too strong for people who just became Demigods.”
Night’s clone replied, “Arthur is a Primordial God’s Chosen, while Jeffy is… well, Jeffy.”
Victor nodded. “That’s impressive. Just those two alone should secure a strong position for the human race in this world.”
Minerva licked her lips. “I wonder if they will let me borrow some of their blood…. For research purposes, of course.”
Night looked at her blankly, he wisely decided to excercise his right to remain silent.
Small hints of jealousy sprouted in Rango’s heart not because he was not a Chosen but because those guys got to show off while he hid like a coward, he smacked his lips. “What’s so good about being a Primordial God’s Chosen? I say those Primordials better buckle up and clutch their seats, or I might just pull the rug out from under them…”
Night gave him a weird look. ‘How unlucky is this wolf, saying something so blasphemous right in front of me when I’m being stalked by at least two Primordial Gods?’
Night thought that was the end of it and he would stop there. But no, no; how could the mighty Rango stop with just that?
Rango rubbed his jaw with his paw and mused, “What should I name myself after I dethrone them? Hmmm… Primordial God Rango?”
Night’s face darkened. ‘At this rate, this guy will not just kill himself, he’ll get me killed as well.’
Night immediately put some distance between them. Feeling like a few steps weren’t nearly enough, he teleported a full kilometer away from the wolf with rotten luck.
Seeing him flee like that, the others looked over in confusion, while a curious Minerva followed him.
Night thought one kilometer would be enough to keep him safe, but for some accursed reason, he could still hear the damn wolf as clearly as if he were standing right beside him.
Night cursed inwardly. ‘Shit, I forgot about my Domain….’
He immediately started to teleport even further away, but alas, it was already too late…
Rango declared loudly, “‘Primordial God’ is already a bland title nowadays! If anything, my title should be higher than that!”
By now, the others standing near him appeared disturbed for some reason; even Argus started to feel that something ominous was about to happen.
Then, Rango used both of the brain cells he had left to ponder a brand-new title.
Suddenly, he slammed his paw onto the ground with an ‘I-got-it’ expression.
Rango howled, “Yes, that’s it… Primordial God King Rango…. Haahahahaha, haahha, ahahah! The one and only Primordial God King RANGO!”
BOOM!
A lightning bolt as big as their planet appeared out of nowhere and struck the blasphemous wolf down….
And this is how Rango died…
The End…
