I Just Want to Farm, But My Beasts Keep Evolving!!

Chapter 176: Holding The Line Back Alone

Chapter 176: Holding The Line Back Alone

Reliquary of Heaven’s Fall.

Raiden’s voice rang out particularly loudly in the chaotic battlefield, as if it had some kind of magnetic quality to it.

Crrackk.

All the humans and Terran turn towards the source of disturbance, only to see the empty space above the battlefield split open all at once as giant gates of light began to emerge one after another, filling the entire sky.

The gates’ ancient runes burned with golden fire, while faded pink divine patterns flowed across their edges like rivers of light as rustic chains moved from them, making a clanking sound as they struggled to hold back the monstrosities inside.

Very soon, the gate multiplied in numbers, quickly climbing past a thousand.

The sight alone froze the entire battlefield.

Even the wild Terra Beasts that had been roaring madly a moment ago fell silent, their instincts screaming at them that something incomprehensibly dangerous had just descended upon the world.

"Since we are slightly late, let’s make up for it, right, Neva?? Unleash hell upon them."

"Sha Sha!!!"

CLANG!!

The first rustic chain snapped.

CLANG!! CLANG!! CLANG!!

Every single chain started to snap as the gates in the sky started to open one by one, their divine might filling the whole sky.

And from the darkness inside them, weapons began to emerge.

They emerged slowly at first, each one hanging halfway out of a gate and locked in place by the last few chains still clinging to them, trembling in the air as if alive.

The light pouring from the gates painted the battlefield gold and pink, while the metallic bodies of the weapons gleamed with cold, murderous intent. Every blade, every spear-tip, every axe edge was pointed downward at the sea of Terra Beasts below.

"Roar!!!"

As if receiving some kind of command, all the Terra Beasts from the battlefield roared and moved towards Raiden and Neva as if they were desperately trying to stop them.

"Too Late," Raiden smirked in amusement.

Then all hell broke loose.

Thousands of weapons shot down together like divine meteors, covering the heavens in a rain of light and steel. They descended too fast for the eye to even follow properly. One second, the sky was full of gates.

BOOM!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!! BOOM!!!

Lines of charging Terra Beasts were driven to the ground in groups of three and four by spears. Giant monsters were torn in half as great blades crashed down like guillotines.

Halberds ripped through broken bone and thick hides. Glaives spun as they fell, carving bloody arcs through the Terra Beasts. Everything beneath them was shredded as war hammers pounded craters into the ground.

With horrific accuracy, axes sank themselves into torsos, shoulders, necks, and skulls.

The weapons acted like a meat grinder falling from the sky, clearing out hordes upon hordes of Terra Beasts in a moment, holding back the line front line alone.

The mourning cries of Terra Beasts echoed in the air as a blood mist started to rise up from the ground, turning the whole atmosphere red.

The wild Terra Beasts no longer sounded like hunters. They sounded like prey.

Their roars shattered into screams as they scrambled through the killing field, but escape was nothing more than a dying hope. The sky above them split open again and again as gate after gate appeared overhead, each one vomiting out a fresh storm of death.

It did not matter where they ran. It did not matter where they hid. Every path of retreat was sealed by a new rain of weapons, descending with merciless precision.

A Golden Bison thundered forward with enough force to flatten the ground beneath its feet, only to be skewered in place by a volley of seven spears at once. Its massive body convulsed violently, the earth cracking under its weight, before a colossal executioner blade crashed down through its spine and buried half of its corpse into the battlefield.

A flock of winged Terra Beasts tried to rise into the air, but they were cut down before they could even gain height, swallowed by descending javelins, spinning chakrams, and razor-sharp blades that tore them apart in a burst of blood, feathers, and broken screams.

Beneath the ground, a titanic Earth Elementals burst upward in one final attempt to escape the slaughter, only to be pinned by twin glaives and a rotating drill lance that punched straight through its skull and left its body hanging half-out of the earth like a failed offering.

This was the scene of Heaven’s Gate.

This was not a battlefield anymore. It was an execution ground.

A second later, all the gates vanished from the sky, and Neva fell downward and directly into Raiden’s hand, looking exhausted.

Using sheer power alone, Neva managed to hold the battlefield line for a moment, making the fight stop.

Raiden looked at the battlefield where tens of thousands of Terra Beasts died at Neva’s hand, causing the rest of them to be a bit fearful.

John looked at Raiden and Neva in complete disbelief, with only one thought running in his mind.

’What In The Name Of FLYING Fuck!!’

"Roar Roar ROOAARRR!!!"

A loud commanding roar echoed from the back of the Beast Horde, causing Terra Beasts’ eyes to turn fearful.

As if receiving an invisible command, the eyes started to turn red once again as they advanced towards the parameter once more. Whatever or whoever was driving them invoked a greater fear in their hearts than the chance of dying at Raiden’s hand did.

"Oh no...it’s over...they are moving again...you couldn’t stop them..." John felt despair settling in his heart once again.

Raiden rolled his eyes at such obvious words.

"No shit, I couldn’t stop them. I am just a single Silver-Tier Battle Master. What more do you expect from me? Isn’t it good enough that I push the line back and give you some breathing room??"

John felt his heart clench with even more despair. That was right. Raiden was nothing but a Silver-Tier Battle Master. Seeing such an overwhelming scene had made him forget all about his rank.

As if obvious to John’s despair, Raiden kept a cheerful smile on his face as he talked.

"Besides, who said I came alone??"

BOOM!!!

KREEEEEEE-AAAAAA-EEEEONGK!!!

An inhuman roar sounded from the back as Blue Atomic Breath tore through the incoming Terra Beast with force.

John turned around, only to find a hundred-metre-tall behemoth standing there, its spine lighting up with power as it unleashed an unstoppable attack.

Standing on top of it was a beautiful silhouette who commanded it to move forward as it ran straight into the beast horse, tearing through like an absolute unit.

Then, from on top of the wall, hundreds and thousands of Terra Beasts and Battle Masters started to roll down. All of them joined the soldiers and pushed back against the wave, fighting bravely.

Raiden had reached just in time to join forces with the rest of the people from the city as they mounted a counter-attack against the beast horde.

Seeing the new, fresh faces fill their place and fight back with such fervour, John completely put down the stone that was in his heart.

"You have done enough. Let us take it over from here. Go rest." Raiden patted John’s shoulder before he started walking forward, joining the rest on the battlefield.

John looked at Raiden, who was moving towards the battlefield, and an unknown sentiment started to well up from his heart.

"Raiden, you bastard!!! You need to come back alive!! Do you hear me?!! That is the command from your team leader of Platoon 4!!"

Raiden just waved his hand as he kept walking, with Woolie acting as a vanguard, demolishing any Terra Beast that dared to come in front of him.

On the other side of the battlefield, Yuna was raining hail upon the enemies. Her Terra was tearing through the lines like a hot knife through butter.

Before long, she quickly reached one of the most important battlefields and spotted Isadora fighting against the Three-Headed Dragon. Without wasting any time, she commanded her partner to head over there and unleashed another Atomic Breath directly against the enemy, making all three heads cry out in pain.

This allowed Isadora to catch a moment of her breath as she re-grouped with Yuna while panting hard.

"About goddamn time you decided to join the battlefield." Isadora threw an annoyed glance at Yuna, who just smiled back in reply.

"Well, I am a teacher first and foremost, after all. I needed to evacuate all the students and make sure they were okay before I could join you on the battlefield. Besides, I am here now, aren’t I??"

Before Yuna could say anything else, the Three-Headed Dragon charged towards them again. All three heads fired different beams of light directly towards them, making the air crack with power. Seeing this, their Terra Beasts fired back their attacks in reply, clashing directly in the air.

BOOM!!!!

"King Gidora—I mean Three Headed Dragon!! It’s our old enemy!! Leave it to us!! You are much needed back at the defence line. They require your commands."

Isadora looked at the enemy, then looked at Yuna again, before nodding slowly.

"Alright, don’t die."

"Don’t worry. The real fight is just getting started!!!"
