I Just Started College, How Could I Become a Part-Time Papa?!
Chapter 146 - 90: Bow Accessory
Chapter 146: Chapter 90: Bow Accessory
After they got back, they had dinner at the hotel, which was a nice upgrade to their usual fare.
After dinner, Song Jianye headed back to school, and Chen Yuan went to Jiang Wanyi’s place.
"Who is it?"
"Guess who."
Hearing Chen Yuan’s voice, Jiang Wanyi opened the door.
She was wearing the lace tank top they had bought yesterday. It revealed a swath of her fair chest, and you could even see a hint of her collarbones.
Mili was in her little stroller, wearing the little yellow duck tank top and holding a rattle in her hand.
Jiang Wanyi took a step back, putting some distance between them.
"Take a look at the back. It’s pretty, right?"
Jiang Wanyi willingly turned around. The back had an open-back design in the shape of a butterfly.
’This was the first time he’d seen Jiang Wanyi’s back like this.’
"Calling it ’pretty’ would be an understatement."
"Then how would you describe it?"
"Beautiful."
That single word went straight to Jiang Wanyi’s heart.
’The language our ancestors came up with is truly incredible.’
’A word like "good-looking" is more fitting for people like Song Jianye and Fang Youning.’
’But for people like Jiang Wanyi and Fang Youqing, the word "beautiful" is more than enough.’
"I can never get a straight answer out of you."
Jiang Wanyi was secretly delighted. She didn’t care what anyone else thought; as long as Chen Yuan thought it was beautiful, that was all that mattered.
"I’m the one who picked it out. How could it not look good?"
"You really do have good taste."
Chen Yuan smiled and lifted Mili out of her stroller.
"Let Daddy hold you."
"Ba... baba..."
"Such a good girl. Give me a kiss."
Chen Yuan nuzzled her little cheek, then gave it another kiss.
Jiang Wanyi was long used to seeing the two of them being so lovey-dovey.
’She says she’s on my team, but when it really matters, it’s a whole other story.’
"What do you want to eat? I can make you something," Jiang Wanyi said, standing at the kitchen doorway.
"I’ve already eaten, so don’t go to any trouble."
"I keep telling you not to eat out. From now on, you should eat at home whenever you can."
"You got it."
"I’ll make you some fruit salad for dessert."
"Better make a big batch. I’m actually a little thirsty."
Jiang Wanyi covered her mouth and laughed. "Are you really planning to drink this stuff I make like it’s water?"
"I drink about two liters of water a day. If I play basketball, maybe three. Will that be enough?"
"I’ll smack you."
Jiang Wanyi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. "Do you really think I’m a machine? How could I possibly make that much?"
Just like yesterday, Jiang Wanyi was in the kitchen making fruit salad while Chen Yuan held their child, watching from the doorway.
As he watched, Chen Yuan noticed something was off.
He couldn’t see any bra straps on her back.
He shifted his gaze to her front, and they didn’t seem to be sagging much either.
’Interesting.’
"What are you looking at?"
Jiang Wanyi’s attention was still on the fruit on the cutting board. She turned slightly to the side, exposing her back to him.
"The tank top is nice."
Jiang Wanyi paid him no mind, just impassively chopping the fruit.
’Are all young guys his age interested in lace?’
Just then, Mili’s hand reached out and hooked onto the strap at the back of the tank top.
SNAP—
AHH—
Jiang Wanyi shrieked and whipped her head around to look at Chen Yuan.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, it wasn’t me! If you don’t believe me, call the police."
"I know you didn’t do it, but you’re her father, so shouldn’t you take responsibility? Don’t forget, we’re a team. I can make you fruit salad, but she can’t."
"I..."
Chen Yuan’s mind raced. He asked tentatively, "Want me to... rub it better?"
"You!"
Jiang Wanyi shot him an exasperated glare, but it melted into a laugh. She put down the knife and rested one hand on her hip.
"So, you two have formed a united front, have you?"
"Isn’t that what you just said? I’m her dad, so if she does something wrong, I have to take care of the aftermath. Is rubbing it better not enough for you? Or are you trying to extort me?"
"Aren’t you supposed to scold her? Tell her that what she did was wrong?"
"She can’t even understand words yet. It’d be useless."
Chen Yuan threw up his hands. "If you’re not happy, just call the police. Have them arrest her."
This made Jiang Wanyi even more torn between anger and laughter.
"I see you’re completely shameless now."
"Well, it is what it is. Go on, call the police. When they get here and ask you what crime you committed," he said to the baby, "we’ll just tell them that the baby pulled her mommy’s tank top strap and hurt her."
Holding the child, Chen Yuan walked toward the playpen in the living room.
"Let’s hurry and get out of here. Your mommy’s going to call the police to arrest you."
"Hmph... what a little rascal."
With a hand on her hip, she watched the two of them acting all chummy and rolled her eyes repeatedly.
’Once she learns to talk and can actually call him Daddy, will I have any status left in this family?’
There was nothing she could do about Chen Yuan, but the fruit salad still had to be made.
’Not only do I have to get teased, I still have to do the work. This is an impossible life.’
She finished making the fruit salad, brought it to Chen Yuan, and sat down inside the playpen.
It seemed her weight loss efforts were paying off. The lines of her legs were smoother and more pleasing to the eye.
But what truly captivated Chen Yuan was Jiang Wanyi’s aura.
Wearing that lace tank top with its open-back design, her allure as a young mother was even more pronounced.
He ate the "original flavor" fruit salad while Mili played at his feet, sprawled out like a little frog. He had no idea what she found so fun about it.
Jiang Wanyi clapped her hands, trying to get Mili’s attention. In a soft voice, she said:
"Mili, come to Mommy."
Hearing the voice, Mili glanced back, her eyes a little dazed. Not only did she not move, she started trying to crawl up Chen Yuan’s leg instead.
Jiang Wanyi felt a pang of jealousy.
"Let me tell you, a baby’s actions are all driven by instinct. She’ll stick to whoever treats her best."
"I bet it won’t be long before you two kick me, her actual mother, out of the picture."
Given their current relationship, Jiang Wanyi wasn’t truly angry, just a little bit jealous—though she hadn’t even realized it herself.
