Chapter 504: Chapter 503: The Feeling of Hacking

The Bullywugs paid them no mind.

They charged madly from all directions.

Colin and Kase charged straight toward the Bullywugs to face the front, where the pressure was greatest. Langgrin and Orelia met the enemies on the left and right flanks, respectively, while Dorn rushed to the rear, where the pressure was weakest.

Having entered his Frenzy, Kase was the first to reach the enemy line.

The Bullywugs thrust out with their Short Spears.

Several spear tips drove straight at Kase’s torso, but the Short Spears barely pierced his skin, unable to inflict any real Damage.

Kase stood his ground.

The sturdy Half-Orc twisted at the waist, his feet digging into the ground. The muscles in his core and arms bulged, his powerful body coiling like a spring ready to be sprung.

In the next instant, his sword flashed.

The three Bullywugs in front of him were sliced in two. Foul-smelling blood splattered everywhere, trickling into the water below.

Watching Kase’s back, Colin took a deep breath and began to focus his full concentration.

Unlike when he used [Defense in Attack], this time he shifted all of his attention to his own body and the way he exerted force.

The feel of the sword hilt in his hand became incredibly clear. Colin could even feel every line and texture on the grip. In that instant, the weapon in his hand became an extension of his body.

He stopped in his tracks.

A sharp ring of metal on metal sounded by his ear. ’Must be blow darts or something,’ Colin thought. He felt no pain. ’There’s no way that kind of weapon could pierce Plate Armor.’

He powered with his legs, twisting his torso.

A CLANG echoed by his ear as a forceful shove hit his chest—a Bullywug’s Short Spear. Simultaneously, he heard two whooshes as other Bullywugs, affected by [Elf Dance], stabbed nothing but air.

Colin locked onto the enemies before him.

He channeled all his strength into his arms, feeling them become a whip as he lashed out with the blade.

He felt a smooth give through his hands, followed by the jarring impact of hitting something hard, and then the sensation turned smooth and effortless again.

SWISH!

When Colin refocused, the two Bullywugs in front of him had been cleaved in two.

Their companions right behind them rushed forward, thrusting with their Short Spears.

Colin didn’t dodge or evade, letting both Short Spears strike his Chest Armor, only to glance off the smooth surface.

With the momentum from his [Power Attack], another two Bullywugs were cleaved in two.

The stench of blood seeped in through the breathing vents of his Helmet.

The enemies kept surging forward.

Colin landed a backhanded strike on a Bullywug’s head, the blade sinking deep. He wrenched it free and followed with a diagonal slash that sheared off half of another opponent’s head.

Several more blow darts shot in from a distance.

Colin couldn’t be bothered to use any Magic. He simply ignored the ranged attacks and disemboweled another Bullywug with a horizontal slash.

Just then, a Short Spear stabbed him in the waist.

Completely unharmed, Colin spun around, a backhand strike from his sword severing the Bullywug’s arm and the Beast Hide Armor it wore. He then stepped forward and smashed the creature to the ground with his elbow.

Colin stepped forward and plunged his blade into the Bullywug’s throat, silencing its annoying croak for good.

With that, all the Bullywugs in melee range around him had been killed.

Colin freed a hand to wipe it on his armor.

His hand and the sword hilt were covered in sticky blood, making his grip feel slightly slick.

Just then, Colin saw a shimmer of Magic Radiance cover his hand, and the sticky blood vanished instantly.

"Thanks, Ale!"

Colin took two steps back as he shouted.

After all, his responsibility was to protect Ale and the others, not to charge ahead on a killing spree.

As he stood his ground, Colin surveyed his surroundings.

In less than a minute, the ground around him was already piled high with corpses.

’Still, to be honest... it’s a bit of a stress reliever.’

Realizing what he was thinking, Colin shifted his attention to other parts of the battlefield.

If Colin, who didn’t even rely on Swordsmanship as his primary fighting style, could do this, then Kase next to him was even more terrifying. The ground was littered with severed limbs and chunks of flesh.

The Half-Orc was relying on sheer brute force, wielding his Giant Sword as if it were an Axe.

Orelia fought alongside her [Spiritual Weapon], essentially making her the equivalent of two people. Though her Scale Armor wasn’t as thick as Plate Armor, it was more than enough to handle the Bullywugs.

Dorn’s style was completely different.

He weaved and dodged among the Bullywugs, running circles around several of them until they were completely disoriented. Every flash of his silver Dagger found its mark.

Needless to say, Langgrin was holding the front line, standing there like a fortress wall. From the rear, Durkin and Donkexes provided support with a Hand Cannon and Cantrips, respectively.

Colin glanced toward the rear.

Just as he’d thought, the Dwarves at the rear weren’t in much trouble either.

Although a few of the Dwarves looked injured, their line remained stable, and the Bullywugs couldn’t break through for the time being.

The moment of respite was fleeting. The Bullywugs charged again.

Colin took a step back and casually flung a [Flaming Arrow], knocking one Bullywug to the ground. Then, chanting a Spell, he thrust his sword forward.

The [Emerald Flame Sword] ignited on his blade, boring a small hole in the next opponent’s stomach. The burning Flame instantly seared the wound jet-black, while the remaining Magic Energy blasted another Bullywug behind it, tearing its flesh open. Waves of agonizing screams rippled through the air.

At that moment, a Short Spear thrust at him from the side.

With a WHOOSH, the Short Spear and its wielder were sent flying by a powerful strike, soaring like a ragdoll into the midst of the other Bullywugs.

Kase’s deep voice immediately reached his ear. "Don’t mention it, Colin."

"That thing couldn’t have pierced my Armor anyway, Kase," Colin said as he kicked over the corpse in front of him and pulled his blade free.

The two of them stood shoulder to shoulder.

The dozens of Bullywugs before them froze, not daring to advance for a moment, even with their overwhelming numerical advantage.

"Colin, look up!"

Ale’s voice came from behind. Colin looked up to see several Bullywugs leaping down on him from above.

Colin casually cast a [Burning Hand].

The Flame instantly formed a fiery curtain, and the mid-air Bullywugs turned into charred corpses before they could even scream.

At that moment, the Bullywugs in front of Colin scrambled over their comrades’ bodies to charge him, just as Ale’s spell arrived.

A howling, cold wind mixed with fine white threads swept over them. The charging Bullywugs were frozen into ice sculptures before they could even reach Colin. Those who weren’t frozen solid still fell to the ground, their bodies covered in a thin layer of ice, clearly lifeless.

That single spell was like a Horn sounding the retreat for the Bullywugs.

The surviving Bullywugs shrieked and hopped away, fleeing toward the distant temple and leaving behind their comrades whose feet were still trapped in the stone.

"It’s over. Should we go check out that temple?" Colin shouted to Donkexes and the others, casually flinging a [Flaming Arrow] to blast one of the trapped Bullywugs.

Donkexes also began finishing off the remaining Bullywugs. "Might as well. Things have already turned out like this, anyway."

"Then let’s give them some time to run," Colin said, watching the fleeing Bullywugs. "I don’t think they’ll dare to oppose us again."

While the group unhurriedly finished off the poor souls who had been left behind, the fleeing Bullywugs escaped to their village.

A moment later, the Bullywugs who had been busy in the village gathered together. In a panic, they joined the others in fleeing into the distance, among them many small Bullywugs who still had tadpole-like tails.
