Chapter 484: Chapter 483: Timely Reinforcements
’He’s trying to escape!’
Colin got up and cast [Misty Step] again.
He reappeared in front of the Orc Chief.
In that instant, Colin became the focus of the entire battlefield. All eyes turned in his direction.
The Dire Wolf Knights called their Dire Wolves and charged at Colin, trying to cover their Chief. Kase and the others rushed to support him, not wanting to miss the opportunity their companion had risked his life to create.
The Dire Wolf beside the Orc Chief reacted the fastest, lunging at Colin with its jaws wide open.
Colin focused all his energy on defense. He shifted his feet, his body evading the attack by a hair’s breadth. He looked like a feather dancing in the wind.
At the same time, the Chief lunged forward, swinging his axe.
Colin began Spellcasting. A silver light flashed in the Orc Chief’s eyes. He seemed to lose consciousness for a split second, and his attack went wide.
At the same time, a Magic Radiance flashed on Colin’s wrist.
With a backhand swing, his sword struck the Orc’s wrist. But in his haste, the blow only opened a bloody gash and didn’t cause much damage.
However, this small wound was enough for the [Sword Dance] imbued on the blade to erode the Orc’s magic resistance.
Colin began Spellcasting.
A deep purple halo shot out from his Spellbook, striking the Orc Chief in the head. The deep purple Magic Radiance wrapped around his head, extending sharp spikes that pierced into his brain, easily eroding and twisting the Orc Chief’s mind.
[Tasha’s Hideous Laughter] took effect!
The Orc Chief’s mouth fell open, and he began to laugh maniacally, sprays of bloody foam spewing from his gaping maw.
Just as Colin was about to press the attack, a sudden force struck the back of his shoulder, followed by a sharp pain—a Javelin had pierced his Chain Armor.
Colin’s vision blurred.
He sensed that the spell was about to be interrupted. With a thought, a Magic Radiance flashed on his Armor.
He instantly felt as if he had taken a big gulp of mint water. His mind cleared in an instant, and he was able to maintain the spell.
The Dire Wolf Knight next to the Chief rushed forward, swinging his Battle Axe at Colin.
Colin raised his hand and cast [Shield], while Kase’s Shield of Spirit simultaneously appeared at his side.
Blocked by the two spells, the axe struck nothing but air.
The next moment, Colin felt a fierce gust of wind pass over his head.
Mog’s iron-banded greatclub swept past above his vision, knocking the Dire Wolf Knight in front of him to the ground.
Colin glanced back.
Mog, Albert, and Kase had rushed to his side. Orelia was covering Ale in the rear, while Dorn, as usual, lurked in the shadows, waiting for an opportunity.
The surrounding Dire Wolf Knights ignored Ale in the distance and charged toward Colin and the others from all directions.
These creatures were incredibly fast, reaching the group in an instant. Desperate to protect their Chief, the Dire Wolf Knights all focused their attacks on Colin.
Meanwhile, the heavily wounded Orc Chief ignored the Dire Wolves and staggered toward the exit.
Colin wanted to give chase.
But a Dire Wolf Knight brandishing an axe charged in front of him.
Taking advantage of his weapon’s reach, Colin swung [Burning Blood] and once again used [Emerald Flame Sword].
The Flame on the blade exploded against the Dire Wolf Knight’s Wooden Shield. The remaining blaze struck another Dire Wolf Knight in the face, but a third one immediately filled the gap, Shield raised.
Mog quickly moved up with his club, trying to cover Colin.
But this move also got him completely surrounded by several Dire Wolf Knights.
Just then, a Dire Wolf Knight raised his axe and chopped at Mog’s back. It was hard to tell if the creature was doing it on purpose or was just out of its mind, but the axe swung directly toward the skeleton on Mog’s back.
Even though he was wearing a thick Bucket Helmet, Mog still sensed the attack from behind.
He raised his wrist and blocked the axe head-on. A small dent immediately appeared on his fragile arm guard.
That blow seemed to enrage Mog.
The Ogre let out a great roar, grabbed the Dire Wolf Knight’s shoulder with his free hand, and flung him away, sending him crashing into a corner of the tent.
"Colin, finish that guy!" Dorn’s voice echoed in Colin’s mind.
The next moment, Kase charged forward, giant Shield in hand.
He turned the giant Shield sideways and rammed it forward, forcibly breaking the Dire Wolf Knights’ shield wall and blocking several others who were trying to charge. Mog followed close behind, using his club to hold back the enemies on the right.
Although Albert was a beat slow to react, he still managed to block the Dire Wolf Knight charging from behind in time.
Colin reached out and swiped his hand across the blade of [Burning Blood].
The blood flowing over the blade ignited along the Damascus pattern, erupting in a blinding crimson light.
As he charged forward, Colin began to cast [Curse Sword].
The blade of [Burning Blood] began to tremble with a slight, rhythmic vibration. A barely perceptible melody rippled outward as black Runes in the Elf Language slowly spread from the hilt up to the tip of the blade.
Colin instantly felt his mind being drained.
’I only have enough energy left for a Tier One spell, so this Curse Sword probably won’t be very powerful.’
In a daze, Colin saw a dark figure charge at him.
He focused his eyes and saw that it was another Dire Wolf Knight.
In the nick of time, with a flash of silver light, Dorn teleported directly above the Dire Wolf Knight.
He locked his legs around the creature’s neck and used his hands to wrench its head, forcing the Orc to stagger to one side.
Colin seized the opportunity and continued his charge.
The blade streaked through the tent like a red comet, piercing the Orc Chief in the back.
The tip of the sword struck the riveted metal plates of his Chest Armor with a CLANG. A flower of sparks blossomed on the Orc Chief’s chest, and in that same instant, his crazed laughter came to an abrupt halt.
The surrounding Dire Wolf Knights were stunned by this scene.
They stared in disbelief, as if they had just witnessed all the ice on the World’s Roof melt away.
The next moment, the dull sound of a Horn echoed from the distance.
"Reinforcements are here!" Albert’s excited shout came from behind Colin.
At the same time, several Orc shouts were heard from outside the tent.
Immediately after, the Dire Wolf Knights who could still move began to whistle.
Hearing the whistles, the Dire Wolves immediately returned to their masters’ sides. The Dire Wolf Knights mounted their beasts and charged out through the tears in the tent. The other Orcs without Dire Wolves and the lone Dire Wolves also scrambled to get outside.
Colin stood where he was, his head spinning.
He shook his head hard, and his mind felt a little clearer.
"How are you doing, Colin?" Kase’s voice came from beside him.
