Chapter 507: 507:Leaving.

Ravenna remained near the western side of the road, directing controlled flames toward its legs whenever it attempted to change direction.

Mina called out its movements.

"Left!"

He shifted left.

"Right!"

He activated Short-Step.

"Silver, it’s accelerating!"

He raised his hand.

[Spatial Distortion Lv2 Activated.]

The creature’s trajectory changed slightly and crashed into a reinforced wall, concrete shattering.

Silver smiled.

"Good, we’re doing it.."

Then the creature completely stopped.

Silver frowned.

It lowered its head, ots malformed limb twitching on its own. And for a moment, the creature seemed to study the surrounding environment.

His expression changed.

It’s thinking.

The beast slowly turned its head toward the southern highway, then toward the industrial passage, then back toward Silver.

Its bloodshot eyes narrowed.

He felt his stomach tighten.

"Ravenna."

She looked toward him.

"What?"

"Something’s wrong."

The creature roared before it started moving away from Silver and Ravenna. It leaped over the reinforced barricade and straight toward the evacuation convoy.

His eyes widened.

"NO!"

He activated Short-Step.

[Short-Step Lv3 Activated.]

His figure disappeared and reappeared near the creature’s landing point.

He extended both hands.

[Spatial Distortion Lv2 Activated.]

A barrier formed before it. The creature struck it, the impact catastrophic.

He felt his energy circulation shake and the barrier cracked.

He gritted his teeth.

"Not..."

The creature pushed forward through sheer strength. The barrier couldn’t hold anymore and began collapsing.

"...this..."

He forced more energy into it.

[Spatial Barrier Integrity: 31%.]

[Spatial Energy Consumption Critical.]

The creature roared, its enormous weight pressing against the barrier.

Silver’s knees buckled and blood spilled from his nose.

"...time!"

He activated Spatial Displacement.

[Spatial Displacement Lv1 Activated.]

Space twisted around it. For a brief moment, the creature’s enormous body shifted sideways but the displacement was incomplete. The beast’s superior mass and energy resistance interfered with the effect.

Silver screamed as the backlash tore through his spatial pathways.

[Warning: Spatial Manipulation Overload.]

[Warning: Severe Soul Energy Depletion.]

[Warning: Continued Activation May Cause Permanent Damage.]

The barrier shattered and the creature surged forward again as though the stop meant nothing.

Silver stumbled, then saw the civilians; a woman holding a child, an elderly man struggling to climb into the final transport and several wounded soldiers directly in the creature’s path.

His expression changed.

For a fraction of a second, he remembered Elias and his last words.

Just make sure they get home.

Silver closed his eyes, then opened them. He wasn’t going to let another person die because he hesitated, but he also wasn’t going to throw his life away without thinking.

He had spent too long treating his own survival as something secondary to everyone else’s.

That was how he’d died in his previous life, and now, standing in the middle of another battlefield, he finally understood something he’d been refusing to acknowledge.

Dying for someone wasn’t always the greatest sacrifice. Sometimes, the harder thing was finding a way to live, to survive, to return to the people waiting for you and to keep protecting them tomorrow.

He looked toward Ravenna who was running toward him, her eyes were wide with terror. And through Twin Soul Resonance, he felt her fear of losing him.

He smiled faintly.

I’m not dying here.

He raised his hand... but instead of forcing another enormous displacement, he changed his approach. He didn’t need to move the entire creature, he only needed to change where its next step landed.

Silver focused on the ground beneath its front limb. It was a small area with limited distance that could ensure the precise alteration.

[Spatial Sense Lv3 Activated.]

[Spatial Distortion & Barriers Lv2 Activated.]

[Spatial Displacement Lv1 Activated.]

The abilities overlapped.

Silver felt the structure of the surrounding space unfold within his perception; the creature’s momentum, tts center of gravity, the position of its front leg, the broken pavement and the empty drainage channel several meters away.

He understood what he could do but he wasn’t sure if it could work well.

Silver extended two fingers.

"Miss."

Space shifted around the designated area. The creature’s front foot landed several meters farther to the right than it should have. Its enormous body lurched and the remaining limbs failed to compensate.

The beast lost its balance and crashed sideways into the drainage channel.

The impact shook the entire street hard enough that concrete shattered and water erupted into the air. The creature rolled onto its side, its massive body becoming wedged between two reinforced structures.

He staggered, his vision blurred but he remained standing.

[Spatial Displacement Lv1 Proficiency Significantly Increased.]

[Precision Targeting Successfully Executed.]

[Spatial Energy Consumption Reduced Through Localized Manipulation.]

[Spatial Comprehension Increased.]

Silver stared at the trapped creature, then laughed weakly.

"That..." He coughed. "...was better."

Ravenna reached him.

"Silver!"

She caught his arm.

He smiled.

"Still alive."

She stared at him, eyes filled with worry. She looked toward the enormous beast struggling inside the drainage channel, her expression shifting from fear to disbelief.

"You..."

He nodded.

"Yeah."

He looked toward the evacuation convoy. The final transport was slowly moving away.

He exhaled.

"We did it."

The creature wasn’t dead. Its enormous body continued struggling against the reinforced structures, and several of the surrounding walls were already beginning to crack beneath its strength. But the delay had been enough.

The final evacuation convoy passed through the southern checkpoint. Hundreds of civilians were carried away from Hollow Creek.

The remaining defenders began withdrawing in organized groups, abandoning the damaged barricades and retreating toward the military extraction point.

Peter arrived shortly afterward, accompanied by several surviving soldiers. He looked toward the trapped creature, then toward Silver.

His eyebrows rose.

"Ruddington."

Silver straightened.

"Sir."

Peter studied the enormous beast, then looked at the shattered road.

"What did you do?"

Silver considered.

"Improvised."

Peter stared.

"Of course you did."

Ravenna sighed.

"He almost killed himself."

Silver looked offended.

"Almost is a strong word."

Peter’s expression darkened.

"Ruddington."

He immediately straightened.

"Yes, sir."

"Medical station. Now."

"But..."

"Now."

Silver sighed.

"Understood."

Peter looked toward Ravenna.

"Arkland, take him."

She smiled faintly.

"With pleasure."

Silver shook his head.

"Wonderful," he muttered under his breath.

As they turned toward the extraction point, another roar echoed from the drainage channel. The trapped creature was beginning to break free.

Peter immediately raised his communicator.

"All remaining personnel, withdraw! The abnormal beast is still active! Do not attempt further engagement!"

The soldiers began retreating.

Silver glanced backward.

For a moment, he considered staying, then Ravenna squeezed his hand prompting him to looked toward her.

She shook her head.

"Enough."

He nodded.

"Enough."

They ran.

Behind them, the abnormal creature finally tore itself free from the drainage channel but by then, the final evacuation convoy was already beyond its reach. And the remaining defenders were withdrawing toward the extraction vehicles.

Hollow Creek had barely survived.
