Chapter 2185: Chapter 2186: Deal with it as you please
Hearing someone call out, Lin Yi turned his head to look.
He saw seven or eight police officers charge up from the staircase, each holding a weapon, their expressions stern.
And behind them were a few people in suits, the leader being Huang Sihai.
Following him were four other participants, who had just been meeting with him.
Catching sight of these people, Lin Yi’s gaze focused.
He had seen their photos before and recognized Huang Sihai and the others at a glance.
Among those twelve people, he was the wealthiest.
With even him on the scene, things were going to be much easier, though it was a pity not all were present.
“Don’t move!”
The police rushed up and surrounded Lin Yi.
Lin Yi smiled and obediently raised his hands, very cooperative and showing no intention of resisting.
“President Huang, you’ve finally arrived.”
Seeing Lin Yi under control, Liu Yuancheng, Ma Zheng, and others also breathed a sigh of relief.
“How did it turn into this?”
Huang Sihai walked over, unable to comprehend upon seeing Liu Yuancheng beaten beyond recognition.
“It’s a long story to tell, let’s take this person away first, then I’ll explain it slowly to you.”
“I’ll take you to the hospital first, I’ll handle the rest.”
“Okay, that works,” Liu Yuancheng said through a grimace, then his gaze landed on Lin Yi.
“You never imagined someone would come to arrest you, huh? Your time is up; I’m going to show you today what real capital is!”
“Real capital?” Lin Yi remained calm, “Perhaps it’s time I teach you that lesson instead.”
“You don’t have the chance anymore, you’re about to die, nobody can save you!”
Lin Yi didn’t speak, and the police didn’t give him the chance to, as they handcuffed him and took him away from the resort.
“Damn it, it’s lucky that we prepared a backup plan, otherwise he would have beaten me to death today.”
“Weren’t you supposed to have someone take him out? Didn’t it work?”
“Don’t even mention it.” Liu Yuancheng said,
“I don’t know how he managed to overpower Ah Si. Ma Zheng told me he heard gunshots inside, and I thought Ah Si succeeded, but the person who came out… turned out to be him.”
“There must be something fishy going on here. A good interrogation will reveal it.”
“All of that is not the point,” Liu Yuancheng said, holding his abdomen,
“I need to get to the hospital now, and then we’ll go over there. I want to get back at him for the humiliation I suffered just now.”
“We should see how you’re doing first; I’ve spoken with our superiors, they’ll handle this matter.”
…
Meanwhile, Lin Yi was taken into a police car and brought to the main station’s detention center for investigation and questioning.
Knowing Lin Yi’s identity made the investigators treat him a bit better than usual.
“Your name is Lin Yi, right? A policeman from the Zhonghai Xinshan Branch.”
“Yes.”
Lin Yi didn’t hide anything and told the truth.
“Do you know why we brought you in?”
“I’m really not sure, please enlighten me.”
“A few days ago, in Permanent Village during an operation, you killed 23 people, there were 79 seriously injured, and 27 minor injuries. Do you admit to this?”
“So that’s what you’re talking about.”
Lin Yi mumbled to himself, clarifying the reason behind his capture.
Being arrested for this reason seemed somewhat logical.
These people weren’t fools, but they weren’t using their intelligence wisely.
That could easily backfire.
“I admit it, I did it. But I was acting on a case at the time, and they all attacked me first, so self-defense is perfectly normal.”
While many people had died, not all of them could be attributed to Lin Yi’s actions.
Gu Yiran and others also fired quite a few shots, and as for how those people died, no one could definitively say.
But Lin Yi didn’t want to quibble, taking the responsibility on himself was the best course of action.
“Self-defense is indeed permitted, but we suspect that you acted excessively and may have even taken personal revenge. This is not allowed.”
“What a joke, I was about to be chopped to death, and you tell me I acted excessively?”
Lin Yi yawned, “Somehow, it feels like you’re joking.”
The two interrogators didn’t look happy.
Lin Yi’s irreverent attitude seemed to disrespect them.
“In our investigation, the suspect Liu Huasheng claimed that they had surrendered quickly, but you relentlessly killed so many. Doesn’t that count as excessive force?”
Lin Yi raised an eyebrow and looked at the two men opposite him.
“Are you sure Liu Huasheng said that?”
The expressions of the two men changed because this information was passed down from their superiors.
“What else could it be? Do you think we made it up?”
“With your ranks, you probably don’t have the guts to make this up. It must be your bosses who told you to say it, right?”
They panicked!
The expressions on their faces were incredibly surprised.
They had not anticipated Lin Yi’s acute insight.
But they quickly managed to settle the waves in their hearts.
One of them, a man with glasses, slammed the table and loudly chastised Lin Yi:
“Watch how you speak! This isn’t a place for your wild speculations!”
“Don’t be so agitated; after all, we’re all in the same field,” Lin Yi replied with a chuckle,
“I don’t have much else to say, what you’ve mentioned is all true, how you deal with it is up to you.”
“Since you have nothing to defend, I will detain you and someone will inform you of the final verdict.”
“Sure, your call.”
Lin Yi was escorted out and then led away from the interrogation room.
…
Inside the detention center, a person in uniform arrived.
He went from cell to cell, hand carrying a file, and eventually opened one of the cell doors.
“Zhou Changlin, step out for a moment.”
The man called by name was a tall and sturdy fellow.
Nearly one meter ninety in height and covered in tattoos, one glance would overwhelm most people.
“Captain Wang, is there something you need me for?”
The man known as Captain Wang nodded, “I have a task for you. Do it well, and you won’t be shortchanged.”
Hearing this, Zhou Changlin’s face lit up with joy, “Don’t worry, as long as it’s something I can handle, I’ll get it done cleanly for you.”
“Good, come with me.”
As they said that, the man called Captain Wang continued to the other cells, calling out a person named Wu Mingming.
After about fifteen minutes, a total of eight people were called out, then taken to the most secluded empty cell.
And these eight individuals all shared one characteristic: they were all big and strong, none of them pushovers.
“Captain Wang, are you moving me somewhere else?”
“Just temporarily, we need you for something shortly.”
