Chapter 57: Amy Is Teaming Up with Loki to Play the Victim
Chapter 57: Chapter 57: Amy Is Teaming Up with Loki to Play the Victim
"But she is still your own flesh and blood."
"The moment she chose Miche to be her mother, she ceased to be my daughter. She brought all of this upon herself."
Rebecca’s face was already covered in tears. Her voice was hoarse. "Ophelia, Amy is still young. After this, she will definitely realize her mistake. Don’t be so heartless—save her."
"I’m heartless? Have you forgotten how this little ingrate treated me back then, Mother?" The tragic lessons of her past life made it impossible for Ophelia to forgive Amy. Forgiving her would be a betrayal of her past self.
Rebecca opened her mouth to persuade her further, but Ophelia was already growing displeased.
"Father, please take Mother away first. No one can change my mind!"
"Ophelia, you..." Leon also wanted to add his own words of persuasion, but seeing the resolute rejection on his daughter’s face, he could only sigh. People often said daughters had soft temperaments, but in truth, Ophelia’s heart was incredibly hard. Once she was hurt, forgiveness was out of the question.
"Father, I hope you can respect my decision." Ophelia closed her eyes, feeling as though she were turning against the entire world.
"Let’s go, Rebecca. Let the children resolve their own affairs."
After Leon and Rebecca left, Ophelia issued one final warning before turning to leave herself.
"Don’t blame me for being heartless, Loki. When you betrayed me back then, did you never consider that it would end like this?" Ophelia sneered. "From now on, whatever happens to you has absolutely nothing to do with me. Leave immediately, or don’t blame me for having them throw you out!"
Ophelia shooed them away, entirely unmoved by Amy’s unconscious state. She believed that Loki wouldn’t actually harm Amy. He was merely using her to beg for medicine, which was why she hadn’t spared the girl a single glance from beginning to end. Perhaps Amy’s current faint was just an act to play along with Loki.
Hearing that Ophelia truly didn’t care, and seeing the absolute resolve in her retreating figure, Loki thought, "This is bad." In a moment of desperation, Loki pinched Amy hard to wake her up.
"AH!"
Jolted awake by the pain, Amy opened her eyes to find herself in the Golden Dragon Clan. She struggled with fierce resistance but was locked firmly in Loki’s embrace.
"If you don’t beg for the medicine for us, I won’t want you anymore," Loki whispered his threat, resorting to completely unscrupulous means to achieve his goal.
"No, Father, please don’t abandon me," Amy pleaded. Her mother had already forsaken her; she couldn’t lose her father too. "I’ll agree to help you beg for the medicine. Just don’t throw me away."
Amy’s only home now was with the Snow Wolf Clan. She knew that if she were kicked out, her mother certainly wouldn’t take her in either.
"Mother, I feel so awful. My body hurts so much. Can you please give me some medicine?" she begged. "I know I was wrong. Will you please forgive me?" Amy spoke timidly, her voice laced with profound weakness.
In truth, Amy was incredibly reluctant. She didn’t want her mother to be used, but in order to survive, she had no other choice.
"Following your father was your own choice. He is your father, so he will naturally find a way to cure your illness." Ophelia’s voice was utterly indifferent, completely ignoring Amy’s display of vulnerability.
"Everything in the past was my fault. Mother, I will always remember your kindness from now on. I really don’t want to die. Please save me." Struggling out of Loki’s arms, Amy trotted over to Ophelia and grabbed the hem of her dress, pleading bitterly. She desperately hoped her mother would save her.
As Amy drew closer, Ophelia finally noticed something unusual on the girl’s face. She furrowed her brows slightly. "What’s with the slap mark on your face?"
She knew that Loki doted on Amy and had never struck her before. Yet now, there was a distinct handprint on her face, and the blow had clearly been heavy. Amy was the granddaughter of the Snow Wolf Clan Leader. With Loki around, no one would dare harm his little female cub right under his nose. Therefore, the only person capable of slapping Amy, aside from Loki, was Miche. But Miche was accustomed to feigning gentleness and kindness; unless pushed to the absolute brink, she would never resort to physical violence.
That left only one possibility: Loki was the one who hit her. And the only reason he would strike Amy was because of Miche.
Ophelia sneered inwardly. Now that she was no longer in the Snow Wolf Clan, Miche had begun sowing discord between Loki and his daughter. She just wondered if Amy still liked her Aunt Miche the most.
"I..." Just as Amy was about to confess that she had been hit, Loki shot her a frantic look. Filled with panic and terrified of being abandoned, Amy was forced to lie. "I accidentally bumped into something."
The slap mark was far too obvious. Even if Amy lied, anyone with eyes could see exactly what had happened. Seeing that his secret was about to be exposed, Loki feigned exasperation and quickly stepped forward to pull Amy back.
"Amy, since she refuses to save you, you no longer need to acknowledge her as your mother."
Just as Loki was turning to leave in a huff, Amy broke free from his grasp.
"Mother, please let me stay here! I don’t want to go back to the Snow Wolf Clan anymore!" Trembling with fear, Amy admitted her mistakes to Ophelia. Since they hadn’t managed to get the medicine this time, her father would undoubtedly vent his anger on her once they returned. It was better to risk it all. Perhaps she might actually be allowed to stay with the Golden Dragon Clan.
"Amy, what nonsense are you spouting? Hurry up and come with me," Loki said, his face turning ashen.
Ophelia ordered sharply, "Stop him. Don’t let him take Amy away."
The males of the Golden Dragon Clan decisively surrounded Loki.
"You’re not leaving today until you explain yourself clearly." Laxus snatched Amy from Loki’s arms, glaring at him with icy eyes.
"What gives you the right to take my Amy?" Loki naturally refused to give her up. She was his final trump card.
"That is no longer up to you," Laxus said, narrowing his eyes slightly.
Loki was immediately pinned to the ground by the males, unable to move. He was hopelessly outnumbered. Moreover, as a Wolf Beast, he was simply no match for a Dragon Beast.
"I will ask you one more time. Who exactly hit you in the face?"
"Mother, I’ll tell you. It was Father... He’s the one who hit me." Sensing that her mother was backing her up, tears of grievance instantly rolled down Amy’s cheeks.
Ophelia knit her brows tightly. "Loki, just who are you really begging for medicine for?!"
"I—I’m obviously begging for medicine for Amy! Who else could it be?" Terrified that Ophelia wouldn’t give him the medicine, Loki grew so panicked that he began to stutter incoherently.
Just as Loki prepared to continue his lies, Ophelia exposed him completely.
"Liar!" she snapped. "We already tested this. As long as the three packets of herbal medicine are taken on time and in the correct dosage, Amy’s illness will be cured. There’s absolutely no way the medicine would run out without her making a full recovery."
Ophelia suspected that Amy was collaborating with Loki to play the victim, all for the purpose of tricking her into handing over the medicine!
No matter how chaotic the situation was, Laxus also sensed that something was amiss. Unleashing the full, overbearing aura of a Dragon Beast, he bore down directly on Loki, the immense pressure causing the wolf to cough up a mouthful of blood.
"Speak! Who exactly did you give Amy’s medicine to?!"
