Chapter 186: Chapter 186: The Spy Sent by Brada

This could be considered good news for them. However, they truly hadn’t expected the Fu Clan’s medicine to attract Brada’s attention.

Meanwhile, in Ten Thousand Beasts City, Brada sat in his living room, tapping his fingers lightly against the armrest of his chair.

"Moye, I don’t care what methods you use; you must bring that wandering physician before me. If such excellent medical skills cannot be used by our Holy Capital, then there is no need for him to live." As he finished speaking, a flash of murderous intent appeared in Brada’s eyes.

Moye was secretly alarmed, but he tried his best to keep his voice steady. "Mr. Brada, we could negotiate with that wandering physician to have him deliver medicine to us every month. There’s no need to force him back to the Holy Capital. Besides, he makes a wide variety of these medicines, and the Holy Capital might not even have the herbs he needs."

"Once he’s in the Holy Capital, are you really worried we won’t be able to find the right herbs?"

Seeing Brada say this, Moye knew the man had already made up his mind. This matter was going to be difficult to handle. He could only secretly pray in his heart that the Winged Dragon he sent to deliver the letter would reach the Holy Capital sooner and pass the message to Zerev.

Just as he was thinking this, a heavy object suddenly dropped in front of him. Startled, he looked closely. Wasn’t this the very Winged Dragon he had dispatched to the Holy Capital the other day?

"Oh, right. Last night, our tribesmen caught him sneaking into Ten Thousand Beasts City, trying to cause trouble, so they captured him," Brada said casually. "They might have been a bit too heavy-handed, though. I’m not sure if he’ll survive."

Moye swallowed hard, realizing that Brada already knew he had been sending messages to the Holy Capital. It would be impossible for him to send any more letters now. He could only hope that the first message he had managed to send out would be enough to put Zerev on high alert.

After delivering his warning to Moye, Brada returned to his room to rest. Moye looked at the bruised and battered Winged Dragon on the ground and called for two males to take him away for treatment.

Meanwhile, in the Holy Capital.

"Sir, a message from Moye. He says that Mr. Brada from the Fire Phoenix Clan has gone to Ten Thousand Beasts City."

"What! Why would he go to Ten Thousand Beasts City?" Zerev shot up from his chair in agitation, nearly flipping the desk in front of him. He looked extremely anxious. "Explain clearly!"

"This is the news a male from Ten Thousand Beasts City relayed today. Judging by the timeline, I’m afraid Mr. Brada has already been in Ten Thousand Beasts City for a few days."

Zerev’s face darkened as he moved to storm out of the room, but just as he reached the door, he stopped in his tracks.

"Sir?" Jiuying asked.

"No, I can’t return to Ten Thousand Beasts City just yet."

Since Brada had gone to Ten Thousand Beasts City, he must have grown suspicious of Zerev’s prolonged stay there. Even though Brada was away, he had definitely left people behind to keep an eye on him. If Zerev acted rashly, he would only expose himself.

"Make the arrangements. We will quietly slip out of the city in the next couple of days."

"Yes, sir."

After Jiuying left, Zerev sat back down at his desk. His eyes were gloomy, and his knuckles turned white from gripping the table so tightly. He thought to himself, "Ophelia, you must not let anything happen to you. Otherwise, I’ll go mad."

Two days later, a male arrived at the Fuzu Tribe, bringing twenty head of prey with him.

"Clan Leader Ophelia, I would like to join the Fuzu Tribe."

Ophelia looked at the tall, heavily built male standing before her. "You seem to be very strong. Why do you want to leave your original tribe?"

"I really love rice, so I want to learn rice-planting techniques from you," he replied. "As long as you are willing to teach me, I swear my eternal loyalty to you." The male’s expression was earnest, his gaze unwavering.

However, Ophelia didn’t trust him so easily. She looked over at Tyler.

"He is strong," Tyler noted. "He would be a great asset to the tribe."

"Alright," Ophelia decided. "Then arrange for him to stay in the outer city of the Fuzu Tribe. We’ve built quite a few new dormitories there; it’s a perfect place to settle him."

After Tyler led the male away, Ophelia stared at their retreating backs, lost in thought for a long time.

"Ophelia, what’s wrong?" Klein asked.

"I just feel like something isn’t right, but I can’t put my finger on it."

"The prey," Klein said simply.

Ophelia looked in confusion at the pile of prey the male had left behind. "What about it?"

"The requirement to join the Fuzu Tribe is ten head of prey, but he brought twenty."

Realization dawned on Ophelia. "Twenty? He isn’t a male from Ten Thousand Beasts City!"

Back when the Fuzu Tribe was first established, she had explicitly stated that the entry fee was ten head of prey per person. After all this time, all the tribes in the vicinity of Ten Thousand Beasts City knew the rule. Every male who came of their own accord to join the tribe only ever brought ten. The fact that this male had brought twenty proved he was completely unaware of the local custom—and therefore, he wasn’t from Ten Thousand Beasts City or its surrounding areas.

"Then who is he?" she asked.

"Moye mentioned that Brada still hasn’t left," Klein pointed out.

"Are you saying this person was sent by Brada?"

"It’s possible." Brada was the type of person who would never give up until he achieved his goals. Since he had already taken an interest in the Fuzu Tribe’s medicine, he wouldn’t let it go so easily. Brada had been quiet these past few days, which meant he was definitely plotting something. Klein was already seventy percent certain that this male was Brada’s spy.

"Then I’ll go kick him out and refuse his entry into the Fuzu Tribe!" Ophelia said anxiously, turning to leave.

Klein grabbed her arm and shook his head. "If he can send one person, he can send another. You won’t be able to fend them all off. Just instruct the patrolling males to guard the inner city gates and do their best to keep him from getting close."

Ever since Ophelia purchased another twenty thousand square meters of land, she had constructed several more dormitories outside the main grounds of the Fuzu Tribe. There were dormitories for single males and dormitories for mated couples, separated by a gate. The couples’ dormitories even had a few male guards specifically assigned to them. Meanwhile, all the single females lived within the inner city, and the single, unmated males were housed in the single dormitories in the outer city.

The males were permitted to move between the two sections, but they were strictly forbidden from staying overnight in the inner city. If anyone was caught trying to force themselves upon a young female, they would be immediately expelled from the tribe and reduced to a Wandering Beast.

At first, there had indeed been males with crooked intentions, but under Ophelia and Tyler’s iron-fisted rule, that toxic behavior was swiftly stamped out. Everyone in the tribes surrounding Ten Thousand Beasts City knew that the Fuzu Tribe placed immense importance on security and provided exceptional safety guarantees for their females. As a result, many young females had been drawn to join the tribe.

"Alright, I understand. I’ll pass down the orders," Ophelia said.

"Klein, you haven’t returned to the White Tiger Clan in a long time. Is it really okay?" she asked, a trace of worry in her heart.

Klein patted Ophelia’s head reassuringly. "Don’t worry. I told them to come find me at the Fuzu Tribe if there were any emergencies. Besides, the White Tiger Clan has several other elders holding the fort. Even without me there, they’ll be perfectly fine."

"But with you gone, the people eyeing the White Tiger Mine are going to start pulling their little tricks again."

The White Tiger Clan owned an entire mine, and the vast majority of their males were stationed there to extract ore. Tempted by such immense profit, there were always those who wanted to seize the mine for themselves. Klein typically had to deal with these troublemakers on a regular basis, and his extended stay at the Fuzu Tribe likely gave those opportunists a chance to cause mischief.

"Don’t worry. Once Brada leaves, I’ll head back to the White Tiger Clan. Plus, I’ve already sent someone to the Holy Capital to deliver a message to Zerev, telling him to find an opportunity to come back."

"I’m never at ease when he isn’t around," Klein added. Deep down, he couldn’t shake the lingering premonition that something major was about to happen.
