Chapter 100: Chapter 100: Are You Brainless or Do You Not Understand Human Language?

In the corner, Miche stomped her foot in anger and turned to leave the Fuzu Tribe.

Taking advantage of the remaining daylight, she returned to the Snow Wolf Clan to find Loki.

"Loki, did you know that Ophelia established a tribe of her own?"

Loki’s attempt at poaching prey from the Fuzu Tribe had been too humiliating, so he had kept it a secret from Miche. Now, caught off guard by her sudden question, he didn’t know how to respond.

Miche didn’t notice the strange look on Loki’s face. "I heard her tribe is holding a bonfire party tonight to celebrate its founding," she continued. "The Clan Leader of the Golden Dragon Clan and the leaders of nearby tribes all went."

"Let them celebrate. What does that have to do with us?"

In his recent clashes with Ophelia, he hadn’t gained the upper hand once and was already deeply intimidated by her. He just wanted to stay as far away from Ophelia as possible, hoping they could mind their own business to save himself from bringing a world of trouble upon himself.

"But she invited the leaders of the neighboring tribes to the bonfire party and deliberately left you out! How could she do that?" Miche stomped her foot again, looking utterly aggrieved on Loki’s behalf.

Seeing her anger, Loki hastily pulled her into his arms and comforted her softly. "It’s just a bonfire party. What’s the big deal? Even if she begged me to go, I wouldn’t."

A flash of disgust crossed Miche’s eyes. The more she looked at Loki, the more she felt he was utterly unpresentable.

"But she invited all the surrounding Clan Leaders and singled you out for exclusion. With her disrespecting you like this, what will the people of the neighboring tribes think of you when they find out?

"Even though you two have dissolved your mating bond and things ended on bad terms, she shouldn’t treat you like this in front of outsiders. Didn’t you invite her when you succeeded as Clan Leader?"

Hearing that Ophelia’s actions might negatively impact his reputation, Loki grew anxious.

"Then what should I do now?"

Miche’s eyes darted around thoughtfully. "You can bring some prey and take the initiative to congratulate her at her tribe. With so many people watching, she can’t exactly kick you out."

"How much prey should I bring?" Loki asked, feeling a surge of resentment as he remembered how Ophelia had scammed him out of his catches before. The thought of having to bring prey to her door to offer congratulations made it sting even more.

Naturally, Miche didn’t want Ophelia to benefit either. "Just bring two or three rabbits. That’s enough," she suggested.

Loki hesitated. "Isn’t that a bit too little?"

Usually, whenever neighboring tribes had something to celebrate, they would host a bonfire party. Those invited would bring prey to show their appreciation, which also served as a way to build bonds between the tribes. Most people would bring one large piece of prey; it was considered the standard going rate. If he really went to the Fu Clan with only a few rabbits, it would look quite bad on him.

Miche waved her hand dismissively. "Everyone’s prey will be piled up together anyway. Who’s going to know what you brought? She’s not going to ask everyone one by one; that would make her look way too cheap."

Loki thought about it and agreed. Thus, he actually grabbed two rabbits and set off for the Fu Clan. Along the way, he ran into a few male beastmen he was on good terms with and invited them to tag along.

Since it was a bonfire party, the host was bound to prepare a rich feast of prey to entertain the guests. Even if he couldn’t outsmart Ophelia, getting under her skin would still be a win.

And so, the group of five marched grandly toward the Fu Clan.

Staring at the towering walls of the Fuzu Tribe, Loki was somewhat shocked. He hadn’t expected Ophelia to pull off something on this scale.

His Snow Wolf Clan was an established, veteran tribe, yet their entrance was merely enclosed by wooden fences. Everything else relied entirely on the clan members patrolling day and night. Yet this newly established Fu Clan had surprisingly used slabs of green stone to build their walls. That must have required a tremendous amount of effort. Whether it was the labor or the wages, a great deal had to be prepared.

Looking at the high walls, Loki’s eyes went red with sheer jealousy.

Because of the bonfire party today, Ophelia hadn’t assigned anyone specifically to guard the tribe’s entrance. As a result, Loki and his group strolled in with ease.

After walking for about five minutes, they arrived at the central plaza. Ophelia was currently warmly entertaining the neighboring Clan Leaders, explaining how her tribe would make a living through animal husbandry and farming in the future.

"Ophelia, you actually managed to raise prey to be this fat? You’re incredible!"

"Yeah, I tried raising some before, but they died after just a couple of days."

"Exactly! Hurry up and tell us your secret."

Hearing this, Moye hurriedly interjected. "Why are you asking? This is her secret. How could she just casually tell you?"

The Clan Leaders all recognized Moye. Hearing him defend Ophelia, the way they looked at her underwent a subtle shift.

Loki glanced around, trying to see where everyone had placed their prey. To his surprise, when he turned his head, he saw a pile of prey arranged neatly on the ground. Not one more, not one less—exactly ten large beasts.

Today, the clan leaders visiting the Lai Fu Clan tribe were also exactly ten. This meant he didn’t even have a chance to weasel his way out.

What he didn’t know was that these Clan Leaders had heard Moye would be attending and had specially prepared a whole large beast each; on any other occasion, they would have just scraped together a few smaller catches.

Seeing this, Loki stood frozen, unsure of whether to set down the two rabbits in his hands or not. He deeply regretted listening to Miche and actually showing up with only two rabbits.

"What are you doing here?" Tyler whipped around, having caught the repulsive scent of Loki’s male aura.

Startled, Loki hurriedly hid his hands behind his back. "I-I came to congratulate you on finally finishing the construction of your tribe."

Ophelia looked up, her gaze scanning Loki from head to toe.

Laxus spoke up, his voice thick and booming. "Hah! I’ve never seen any Clan Leader show up to offer congratulations empty-handed."

"Yeah, don’t tell me he’s just here to mooch a free meal."

"How could that be? Loki is the Clan Leader of the Snow Wolf Clan now, after all. How could he possibly do something so cheap?

"Right, Loki Clan Leader?"

The males of the Fuzu Tribe were still holding a grudge against Loki for trading away his own mate, so they eagerly stepped forward to throw in their own mocking remarks.

Loki panicked a little, not expecting these people to call him out to his face.

"I-I came in a rush today," he stammered. "I didn’t bring any prey, but I’ll definitely make up for it tomorrow."

"But I saw you holding something in your hands," a young female suddenly pointed out.

The gazes of everyone present shifted to peer behind Loki’s back.

Some of the males with a keen sense of smell caught the scent. "So Clan Leader Xu Luoqi brought rabbits. And by the smell of them, they’ve been dead for two or three days."

Ophelia crossed her arms over her chest, a look of amusement on her face as if watching a good show. "It seems Loki Clan Leader really is here to mooch a meal. And you brought so many people with you too. Are you trying to eat my Fuzu Tribe out of house and home?"

With his petty scheme exposed in public, Loki’s expression turned stiff, and he hurriedly tried to explain. "No, I didn’t think that at all. It’s really just because everything was so rushed. I didn’t have time to prepare.

"They just escorted me here. They’ll be leaving immediately."

The Snow Wolf Clan males standing behind Loki hadn’t expected him to pull a stunt like this. Rooted to the spot, their faces burned bright red with embarrassment. Facing their former clanmates and companions made them feel even more utterly humiliated, wishing the ground would swallow them whole.

And they weren’t the only ones feeling disgraced in that moment.

Noki noticed the appraising stares of the several Clan Leaders looking him up and down. He felt a wave of profound regret and desperately wished he could find a crack in the ground to hide in.

"I don’t recall inviting you," Ophelia said, taking immense pleasure in looking at Loki’s flushed face and continuing to rub salt in the wound.

"I know you’ve been busy lately and couldn’t get around to it, but we were mates once, after all. Now that you’ve founded a tribe, it’s only natural that I come to congratulate you," Loki said, desperately trying to salvage his pride while winking frantically at Ophelia.

Ophelia, of course, had no intention of saving his face. "Loki, are you brainless, or do you just not understand human speech?"
