I Can Transfer the Side Effects of Evil Skills
Chapter 835 - 476: Treasure Lotus Lamp
Zou Feng had originally thought he could finally reopen the List of Gods, but to his surprise, it remained sealed. Instead, the List of Gods seemed to be reacting violently to something nearby. Since he shared a deep telepathic connection with the List of Gods, Zou Feng quickly understood that it wanted to devour something in the vicinity.
This was the first time the List of Gods had ever expressed a desire to consume anything. He wondered if devouring whatever this unknown object was could significantly shorten the List of Gods’ upgrade time. Of course, this was just Zou Feng’s speculation, but the possibility was highly likely. Moreover, by relying on the List of Gods’ resonance with the object it desired, heading straight for its location would surely yield results.
Without further hesitation, Zou Feng followed the light of the Treasure Lotus Lamp and walked toward the object the List of Gods craved.
After walking for about fifteen minutes, the Treasure Lotus Lamp illuminated a figure lying on the ground ahead. Judging by her physique alone, he knew it was Ma Qianqin. She was lying there, seemingly in a deep sleep.
But Zou Feng wasn’t foolish enough to approach her directly. Instead, he sent the Treasure Lotus Lamp ahead to test the waters. Seeing that there didn’t seem to be any danger, Zou Feng finally called out from thirty feet away, "Senior Sister Ma!"
His shout was equivalent to a Sonic Attack, causing the muscles all over Ma Qianqin’s body to tremble incessantly.
"Ugh..." Yawning, Ma Qianqin rolled over and sat up, genuinely looking as if she had just been woken from a nap. She looked around and then at Zou Feng before mumbling through sleepy eyes, "I haven’t dreamed in a long time... This place is really weird!"
Given Ma Qianqin’s free-spirited and fearless personality, it was entirely possible that she had simply decided to take a nap out of sheer boredom during their long, continuous fall. The unmatched defense of a Body Cultivator gave her enough confidence to fear no sneak attacks, even if she actually fell asleep.
Therefore, it wasn’t strange that Ma Qianqin had fallen asleep. What was strange was that she had actually dreamed. An environment capable of making a Great Cultivator of the Nascent Soul Realm dream naturally deserved to be described as "weird."
"May I ask what you dreamed about, Senior Sister Ma?" Zou Feng immediately inquired. After all, he had almost fallen asleep earlier and only managed to hold on through Visualization of the Queen Mother. If he had actually fallen asleep, he feared he too would have had a rare dream. And to sleep and dream in this blasted place... one didn’t need to be a genius to know there was a massive problem with that. They might even fall into eternal slumber and truly descend into Reincarnation.
Ma Qianqin glanced at Zou Feng and laughed, looking quite amused. "I dreamed I was having a Dance Battle with you!"
Zou Feng chuckled dryly and promptly stopped asking. It seemed he was probably overthinking things. The kind of dream Ma Qianqin had likely had nothing to do with falling into Reincarnation.
"Where did Elder Undying go?" Standing up, Ma Qianqin finally noticed that Undying Master was missing.
Zou Feng gave a brief explanation of their current situation. He concluded by stating that he sensed something in the area, which might help them find the true location of the Tenth Hall.
Ma Qianqin had no interest in delving into anything that required brainpower. After hearing Zou Feng’s explanation, she simply waved her hand and told him to lead the way. Seeing this, Zou Feng said no more. He controlled the Treasure Lotus Lamp and took the lead, continuing toward the object the List of Gods hungered for.
As they traveled, it was fortunate that both of them were Nascent Soul Realm Cultivators. Otherwise, Heart Demons would have immediately festered within this eerie darkness. These Heart Demons weren’t the type generated during Cultivation. Rather, they were born from the bizarre environment. It was incredibly easy to become paranoid and constantly feel like monsters were going to leap out of the dark.
And once someone actually harbored such suspicions, the imagined monsters or Demons would instantly become reality. They would be born from the darkness in a flash and launch relentless attacks until either they or their targets were dead. Only Nascent Soul Realm Cultivators could basically manage to stabilize their true nature in this place, resisting paranoia and preventing their own Power of Fear from acting as an accomplice to the darkness.
In short, the unique environment of the Yama Underworld was one of the reasons why a large-scale invasion of this place was impossible. Cultivators of slightly lower Realms coming here couldn’t simply be described as a burden; they would be actively feeding the enemy. So, although Zou Feng and Ma Qianqin seemed to travel peacefully without incident, it was only because they were strong enough.
But this path wouldn’t last forever. Before long, a dilapidated little town appeared before the two of them. It was hard to imagine that the so-called Yama Underworld would have a Mortal Realm town like this. At the town’s entrance stood only a gatehouse built from a few wooden posts. Carved into the crossbeam of the gatehouse were three crooked words: Rebirth Hall.
The Tenth Hall of the Yama Underworld was precisely the Rebirth Hall. Following the guidance of the List of Gods, they had actually come to the right place. However, Zou Feng couldn’t jump to conclusions about whether this was the real Rebirth Hall or not. They needed to go inside and investigate first.
Zou Feng was just about to discuss their next move with Ma Qianqin when he saw her swaggering right in, without the slightest hesitation. After stepping through the gatehouse, she stomped her right foot heavily, instantly making the entire town shake as if hit by a massive earthquake.
"King Yan of the Rebirth Hall, come out! Otherwise, I’ll tear down your doghouse!"
Strangely enough, despite the severe shaking caused by Ma Qianqin’s stomp, neither the already dilapidated town nor the nearby gatehouse—which looked like it could collapse at any moment—actually fell apart.
"What are you yelling for? Hurry up and get over here!"
Instead of a response from King Yan, an old woman’s voice rang out from the corner of the street ahead, unexpectedly urging them to hurry over. Hearing this, Ma Qianqin let out a fierce grin and immediately dashed forward. Zou Feng naturally hurried to keep up.
To their surprise, when they rounded the corner and looked closely, they actually saw an old woman who appeared to have one foot in the grave. She had set up a small stall and looked as though she were selling snacks.
"You’re here? Then hurry up, drink this bowl of soup, and enter Reincarnation early!" As she spoke, the old woman picked up a wooden ladle and scooped out two bowls of bright green soup from a large vat behind her. Placing the two bowls on the wooden table, the old woman urged them again with an impatient expression, "What are you staring at? Drink up!"
"Meng Po Soup?" Given the circumstances, these three words naturally blurted out of Zou Feng’s mouth.
The old woman rolled her eyes at him. "If you know what it is, then why haven’t you drunk it yet?"
Zou Feng was amused by her. "Excuse me, but why should I drink this?"
The old woman looked at Zou Feng and Ma Qianqin again as if they were fools, then let out a long sigh. "Tsk, two more confused ghosts who don’t even know they’re dead!"
Zou Feng paused, suddenly feeling that this "Meng Po" was a bit too absorbed in her role. How could a dignified Nascent Soul Cultivator like him not know whether he was dead or alive?
Ma Qianqin was equally impatient and couldn’t be bothered to care anymore. At the end of the day, there were no innocent people in the Yama Underworld anyway. So, Ma Qianqin simply took a few steps forward, snatched up the bowl filled with the mysterious green liquid, and said, "Tell me, what happens if I drink this?"
"Naturally, you will forget your past life and pass on without any lingering attachments," the old woman replied.
"Great! Then you can pass on!" Ma Qianqin declared. With that, Ma Qianqin reached out with a large hand, hoisted the old woman up, and ruthlessly shoved the soup bowl into her mouth. The bowl of soup, along with the bowl itself, was forcefully jammed in.
"Mmph... H-How bold!" The old woman, predictably unharmed, struggled to chew the bowl first before letting out a blood-curdling scream. "Guards! Throw these two scoundrels into the Eternal Hell!"
BANG!
With an explosive crack, the old woman who had just finished shouting was blown apart by a single punch from Ma Qianqin, bursting into a shower of gore. However, before those fragments could even hit the ground, they rapidly pieced themselves back together in midair. In the blink of an eye, they reformed into a human shape. But once the flesh and blood reconstituted, she was no longer an old woman. Instead, she was a beautiful woman clad in fine green brocade.
Seeing this, a look of immense interest sparked in Ma Qianqin’s eyes. She was just about to fly over and strike again when the dense sound of footsteps abruptly echoed from all around.
A massive horde of monsters resembling Bull Heads and Ma Mians surged in from every direction. Although the auras emanating from these monsters weren’t weak, taking down Zou Feng and Ma Qianqin was nothing short of a pipe dream.
Because of this, Zou Feng was deeply perplexed. What exactly was the Rebirth Hall trying to achieve with this seemingly futile stunt?
