Chapter 113: Chapter 91: Campsite VS Campsite?

Most importantly, the campsite Kailin Investment was building was located not far from the top of this T-shaped plot of land, directly opposite Li Yuan Farm and within sight of each other.

It created the perfect contrast.

Once Zhang Lin had his documents prepared, he immediately headed to the Agriculture Bureau to lease the land.

Wei Yuan received him at once, greeting him with an apologetic tone. "Boss Zhang, I’m very sorry about the Kailin Investment lease. I can see Li Yuan Farm’s potential, and I know it’s bound to need more land in the future. But some of the leaders had different opinions. They felt that Kailin Investment’s deep pockets would allow them to ’grow the pie’ for everyone quickly. What a load of bullshit!"

"Leasing all that land and going out of their way to surround Li Yuan Farm... Aren’t they worried their little scheme will fail, and they’ll end up falling flat on their face instead of recouping their investment? Then they’ll have to come begging you, Boss Zhang, to sublease it on the cheap!"

"Oh, they’re bound to fail, then," Zhang Lin said with a smile. "But if they come looking for me to sublease it, I won’t have the capital!"

"Huh?" Wei Yuan was taken aback for a moment.

’Boss Zhang is so confident.’

A thought suddenly struck him. "Boss Zhang, Kailin Investment’s first project is a campsite. You’re not here today to lease land for a campsite too, are you?"

"You’re really sharp, Director Wei. You figured it out already," Zhang Lin said with a smile, handing his documents to Wei Yuan.

"Does that even require guessing?" Wei Yuan said instinctively.

’Anyone who knew Kailin Investment was building a campsite would do the same—build their own to compete.’

’The crucial thing is, judging from Boss Zhang’s past projects, he’s no ordinary person. Kailin Investment might have deeper pockets than Li Yuan Farm for now, but who knows how long that will last.’

’If that happens, Kailin Investment will be in deep trouble. What I said earlier might actually come true.’

’Kailin Investment leased so much land, and there’s no one else in You City who could possibly sublease it from them.’

The more Wei Yuan thought about it, the more he began to look forward to this scenario. He quickly processed the paperwork for Zhang Lin, again granting him favorable terms under the support policy: the first year would be rent-free. In exchange, the project would allocate a two-mu plot to the Agriculture Bureau for a dedicated agricultural promotion market.

With the lease contract in hand, Zhang Lin rode his scooter back toward Li Yuan Farm. On the way, he saw truck after truck hauling dirt and sand, all heading in the direction of his farm. Or rather, not his farm—they drove right past the entrance to Li Yuan Farm.

He pretty much understood what was going on.

’They sure move fast.’

Meanwhile, in an area not far from Li Yuan Farm, Zhao Neng was already at the construction site with a group of people. Workers could be seen all around, clearing the land and beginning to build.

He walked to a vantage point where he could see Li Yuan Farm.

"President Zhao, we’ve leased a lot of land this time. If our first project doesn’t manage to successfully beat Li Yuan Farm to the punch, we’ll be in a terrible position," an assistant beside him said, stepping forward to report.

Zhao Neng, a veteran of the business world, was naturally confident about this project. "They don’t have any accommodations right now. That’s our golden opportunity. Even if they find out about our project and want to scramble to fix the problem, it’ll be too late. We’ve signed contracts with all the major construction crews in You City and its two neighboring counties. We’ve also signed priority-supply contracts for construction materials like dirt and sand."

"With no construction crews and no material suppliers, they’ll be forced to look elsewhere. Not only will that drive their costs way up, but they’ll have to wait for any outside crews to finish their current jobs. There will be no way to guarantee their construction timeline. By the time they manage to get everything ready, our campsite will probably already be open for business."

"That’s a brilliant move, President Zhao," the assistant said with a nod.

Zhao Neng then urged, "And those construction crews—press them to get on-site as soon as possible."

The assistant immediately replied, "Don’t worry, President Zhao. They said they’ll head to the site the moment they finish their current projects!"
