Chapter 307: Why Are You Being So Protective?

  • Next Chapter

"So what if a few fourth circle grand mages died? You and the patriarch are worried just because of that? How pathetic." The young man sneered.

Using this opportunity, Jenny reached Noira and helped her get away from the young man.

Mahdi looked at the young man coldly. He looked like he was struggling to comprehend how stupid the person before him actually was.

"Just a few fourth circle mages, you say?" Finally, Mahdi spoke again. "Do you even understand what you are saying? Fourth circle grand mages may not be that strong in the power hierarchy. But for them to die in a place like Earth? And by the hands of a single person? It’s too dangerous if it is what we are afraid of."

The young man’s face finally changed. He understood what Mahdi was implying. Earth was a weak planet, not capable of enduring the attack power of even a single fourth circle grand mage. Yet there was someone. Someone who could kill fourth circle grand mages with ease. What if that person’s strength had also been restricted by Earth’s inability to withstand such destructive power? In fact, that was almost certainly the case. Then how much of that person’s true strength had actually been suppressed? What would happen if she arrived here? Many questions started hammering in the young man’s mind.

Mahdi slowly walked toward him. "I will give you one last chance. Leave. And don’t dare to ever sneak in here. Or I promise I will kill you for disobeying Sire’s orders." Mahdi said coldly before turning around and leaving the room.

The young man stood where he was for a few seconds before gritting his teeth. "Fuck! He totally ruined the mood." He cursed. Then, he too left the place after looking at Noira and Jenny.

Jenny finally breathed a sigh of relief. Noira also relaxed a little. They didn’t say anything to each other for a long time before Jenny finally took the initiative. "What’s going to happen to us? Are we really going to die after the ritual? Can I never see my brother again?" Jenny sobbed.

"Don’t worry," Noira said. Though she was the one going through harder times, she still remained composed. Though she looked to be in her early thirties, she had lived for thousands of years. "Your brother will come to save us. When the master comes, no one will be able to stop him. He can unleash his strength without restraint here."

"Brother will die if he comes here." Jenny looked at Noira, worried.

Noira chuckled. "Die? Him? You have no idea what he is capable of. Or at least what he was capable of."

"Was? You talk like you have known Leon for a long time."

"Very, very long time."

"How? He didn’t mention any of you before. You, that other lady with silver hair, and that man, your brother. You all suddenly started living with us."

Noira stayed silent for a while. Then she started speaking. She started sharing her memories. Her memories with Leon. Or Logan, to be exact.

Meanwhile, back on Earth...

A vehicle sped along the asphalt, rushing toward Delvan. Sol and Leon were sitting at the back. Snow wanted to sit with Leon, but Sol had said he had some important matters to discuss with Leon. Snow knew exactly what Sol was up to. He was trying to pave the way for his sister.

The inside of the car was silent. Every now and then, Sol talked with Leon. And both Emily and Snow would look at Leon through the mirror now and then. Leon noticed it but acted like he was totally oblivious to it.

"Big bro." Sol started again. "I know you will be busy after going to Daselvia, but can you train me a bit whenever you have time?"

"Sure. Why not?"

"Also, can we come with you on the raids? It’s better to have more people. Also, the association doesn’t allow us to raid a dungeon on our own."

"Who said he’s going alone? I am going inside with him. We are a team." Before Leon could say something, Snow added from the front.

"When did that happen?" Leon asked from the back lazily.

"That day when you were asking me to give it my all. You didn’t forget that wild night, did you?"

"What fucking wild night? You are talking nonsense." Leon, who was leaning back, jerked forward.

"Hahahaha. Look at you, Leon. Getting all flustered now. But that day you were acting so arrogant even without any clothes." She chuckled.

"You are totally misleading the situation."

"Am I?" Snow looked through the mirror. "Should I describe that mole on your chest?"

Screeeetch!

The car suddenly came to a halt so abruptly that all were thrown forward a bit. Emily’s fingers wrapped around the steering wheel so tightly that it almost cracked.

"Leon!" Emily spoke. Her voice calm but cold. It was as if her voice were a dangerous breeze, capable of freezing anything within proximity. "You are so young, but doing such things. What will your sister think when she learns about it?"

Leon was definitely stronger than her now. Yet he couldn’t help but swallow. ’Yeap! She is definitely not Lilith. Lilith was innocent, calm. A bit naughty, yes. But very polite. Like the soothing waves in a river. But her? She is a volcano. Calm on the surface, with molten lava constantly threatening to erupt underneath.’ Leon mused.

"She is just messing with words. Yes, I was totally naked that day. I had just come out of a mission. And fire had destroyed my clothes. And about asking her to go all out, it was about asking her to attack me with all her strength. That’s all." Leon explained hurriedly, he didn’t know why. Either Snow’s words or Emily’s reaction shouldn’t have bothered him. Yet, he did it.

Snow pouted. "What a buzzkill!"

Emily snapped toward her but didn’t say anything. Sol smiled warily. "Sis, maybe we should move. Big bro is in a hurry, you know."

Emily still looked at Snow for a while before hitting the gas again.

But just before the car could advance, a figure landed on the ground before it. One leg on the ground, the other on the car, stopping it from advancing. He glared ahead. "You two! You have some nerve." The person spoke, his face darkened.

Both Emily and Sol froze before getting out of the car hurriedly.

"Father!" Both Emily and Sol spoke at once. "What are you doing here?" Emily asked.

"What am I doing here?" The person spoke and smiled at the same time. But that smile was anything but friendly. He looked furious. And it was beyond words. The person’s eyes darted from Emily to Sol. "Sol, are you forgetting something?"

Sol was about to say something else but froze. He tried to remember something. And then, panic flashed across his face. He hurriedly searched his pockets. Nothing. "My phone!" He whispered. "I have lost it."

The person slowly walked forward. His every step was measured, deliberate. His posture was confident, but it wasn’t reeking of arrogance. Rather, it exuded an aura of dominance. Dominance carved through battles and life-and-death situations. Sylus Moure also had this kind of presence. But his was a bit of a corrupted type.

"F-father! Let me explain." Sol stammered.

"Yeah! Explain. And your explanation should be sufficient to make me understand why I had to wait for days here, waiting for you two. I arrived here as fast as I could just because you two were in danger. Not only did you claim that someone had actually killed Sylus, but you also vanished without communication. You brat!" The person glared at Sol. This was none other than Jason Flemming, one of the five strongest mages in the world, a disaster class hunter. The guild master of Phantom Legion. "You told me that you were going to Delvan with that Leon boy. But when I arrived at the location, it was in ruins. Are you two trying to mess with me?"

"No, no, no, Father." Sol quickly explained the situation to Jason Flemming. And after hearing everything, Jason’s temper finally started to fall. He then looked at Leon. Leon and Snow had also come out.

Jason tried his best to see through Leon’s strength but failed. He narrowed his eyes slightly as he walked forward.

"Young man, did you really kill Sylus?"

"Will I gain anything by pretending to have something I don’t?"

"Sharp words. But if you really had the ability, why did no one in the world ever hear of you? A young Disaster Class knight under the age of twenty. That’s not something that can be suppressed."

"Father!" Emily stepped forward. She didn’t look happy with the way Jason was talking to Leon. "You are acting like you are talking to a monster. You didn’t forget we are alive only because of him, did you?"

Jason sighed. "I was just asking a few questions. Why are you being so protective?"
