I Can Level Up Infinitely
Chapter 302: A Spy
Albert looked at Leon angrily. "You bastard! How dare you kill recruits from my Company?"
Leon wasn’t intimidated the least and walked a few steps ahead. "They tried to kill me. And so... I just returned the favor. What’s wrong with that?"
"Bullshit! Why would my boys try to kill you?"
"Who knows? Maybe you instructed them?"
Albert didn’t continue arguing and instructed one of the soldiers standing behind him. That soldier immediately rushed forward with a sword. Reaching before Leon, he swung the sword with all his energy. He didn’t know how strong Leon was. But, for the major to bring this many men to stand against him, Leon definitely wasn’t someone ordinary.
Leon, meanwhile, looked at him calmly. Just before the sword could land on him, he raised one finger. The moment the sword struck his finger...
Peng!
The sword shattered.
A gasp. Everyone was shocked beyond words. Even the major. He knew Leon was strong. He had heard it from the middle-aged man who was responsible for organizing the combined mission. But he didn’t think Leon was so strong that he could shatter a sword with just one finger. He was no weakling. But he knew clearly that even he wouldn’t be able to do it.
Meanwhile, the other company commanders also arrived. Drake, Rudy, and Cynthia.
"Albert, what is the meaning of this? What the hell are you doing?" Cynthia asked.
Albert snapped back from his daze and looked at Cynthia. "Look at who you have recruited. He is a spy from some other country."
"Spy! Who is a spy?" Cynthia asked, dumbfounded.
"Who else? This young man, who killed every recruit from my company who had entered the gate for the combined mission. He can even shatter a sword with just one finger. Why would someone that strong need to take a test to enter the military? He could easily be in the same ranks as ours."
At his words, Cynthia also looked at Leon doubtfully. She had no good relationship with Albert, but even she knew that if Leon was really that strong, then he shouldn’t have been taking these missions in the first place. She had come here for exactly this reason as well. The middle-aged man responsible for the observation of the combined mission had informed every company commander of what had happened inside the gate.
Just before she could ask anything, Rodriguez came forward. "Wait," he said. "He is not a spy. He is strong, but his mana couldn’t be detected. That’s why he didn’t have a hunter license. But considering his strength, he wasn’t someone the military training camp was for. That’s why I suggested he could join the military and soon reach a higher rank. I can vouch for him that he is not a spy."
Cynthia looked at Rodriguez this time. "You know him? How do you know him?"
"Does it matter how I know him?" Rodriguez continued. "It’s enough for you to know that he isn’t a spy."
"It matters," Albert suddenly shot back. "He killed every member of my company inside the gate. So where he came from and what his motives are... that matters. And I won’t let him go unpunished. He has to die for what he did inside the gate."
"Huh!" Rodriguez scoffed. "You are saying he killed them? Why don’t you ask Simon what happened inside the gate? Two of your recruits tried to sneak attack him. That attack was deadly, not a joke. Those two were definitely after his life. Don’t tell me you didn’t know that. Once Leon fought back, everyone from your company joined hands to stand against him. If he was weak, he would be dead by now. Now you want to punish him just because he was strong?"
Rodriguez waited, letting his words settle. Then he started again. "And if those two tried to kill someone even knowing very well that they were under observation, that can mean only one thing. They were ordered to do so because it’s the first time they are meeting Leon. So why would they try to attack and kill him if they weren’t ordered? So tell me, Albert, why did you order them to kill Leon?"
Albert was taken aback by those words. For a moment, panic flashed in his face but he regained his composure the next instant. "I don’t know what the fuck you are saying. He killed all my company recruits inside the gate. And he will have to pay for it. If you try to defend him, then don’t blame me for going against you as well." Saying that, Albert waved his hand.
Immediately, all the recruits standing behind him straightened, their grip tightening around their weapons. Other than recruits, there were some low-ranking officers as well, and they weren’t weak. Everyone was either a B-class fighter or an A-class fighter.
Such strength would have been remarkable only if they weren’t facing a monstrous opponent like Leon. Leon hadn’t said anything till now and was only watching them quarrel among themselves. Once Albert glared at Leon again, Leon also looked at him unfazed.
"Don’t do anything stupid. A court of inquiry will take place to find out what exactly happened inside the gate," Cynthia warned.
But looking at Albert, it was clear that he had no intention of waiting for the court of inquiry to happen. He shot forward toward Leon. Cynthia and Rodriguez reacted quickly. They both shot toward Albert, trying to stop him. But just before they could reach him, Albert flicked his hand. Two round objects were flung into the air before they exploded. The area shook violently as both Cynthia and Rodriguez were sent flying.
Drake didn’t take any action. Neither Leon nor those who died inside the gate were from his company. He was only observing for the moment.
While Cynthia and Rodriguez were unable to fight for the moment, Albert reached Leon. He was one of the strongest fighters here. A peak A-class knight. He was carrying a long dagger. As he swung the dagger, it irradiated a violet glow, energy swirling around it. Leon still didn’t react and looked at Albert amusingly. Just before the dagger could land on him, he repeated the same move.
One finger...
The moment the dagger came into contact with his finger, it stopped. It stopped as if it had frozen in mid-air. And then...
Peng!
It shattered again just like before. But this time, Albert didn’t get time to be shocked like the earlier recruit. Leon took the initiative this time. He wasn’t willing to let everyone walk over him. His fist moved. It looked like a blur to everyone because others failed to follow his speed. Leon’s fist landed on Albert’s chest before sinking in slightly. His chest caved in. His legs left the ground. And then he whistled through the air.
Boom!
His body slammed into a wall behind him before bouncing back and dropping to the ground. Leon vanished from his position only to appear in front of Albert the next moment.
He raised his leg slowly...
And then...
Stomp!
Splat!
