Chapter 296: The Killing Spree

  • Next Chapter

Logan’s fist slammed into the middle-aged man’s face before burying inside as if it was a watermelon. Blood splattered on the ground. Bones shattered inside the middle-aged man’s skull. His facial features couldn’t be recognized anymore.

Everyone gasped. Just two moves. In just two moves, Logan had killed another Cultivation God. He definitely wasn’t as strong as the primordial dragon, yes. But he was still a Cultivation God. Yet, he couldn’t even withstand two blows.

Everyone who had come from the upper heavens turned pale. They wanted to turn around this instant and run off, but their legs wouldn’t move. Dread spread in their hearts. Logan’s presence felt like an ominous shadow. It was as if, even the slightest movement would annoy Logan and that would be the cause of their demise.

Logan slowly stood up. The corner of his clothes billowed in the air.

Lilith’s face brightened like a shining sun, barely capable of holding the excitement. Her heart fluttered with an unknown feeling. The more she saw Logan, the more she was being drawn toward him.

Mercer stood like a statue, not moving at all. What he and Lilith failed to notice was that at some point, Spade had actually returned to the battlefield again. And not only that, but also he had reached this far, who knows how.

He wanted to clap loudly in excitement but stopped the moment he saw Mercer and pouted.

Logan’s eyes scanned the battlefield. Monsters... Cultivators from both sides.

Many already started running. Some collapsed, got up again and resumed running.

Whooosh!

Whoooooosh!

The Raging Inferno’s Wings materialized on both sides of him. "Now. It’s all of your turn."

At those words, Mercer finally came out of his daze. He walked toward Logan before he was already on his killing spree.

"Let them go. No one will dare to attack the Flame Empire again. Unnecessary bloodshed is not needed." Mercer said.

But the coldness from Logan’s eyes didn’t vanish. The killing intent was obvious and it was growing stronger by the second.

"They came to kill... To snatch something that didn’t belong to them. Action without consequences will encourage others to take the wrong path. I can’t let that happen. I won’t."

His words were clear. He wanted blood.

"You don’t understand. I am not saying this because I want to show them mercy. But killing this many may affect your heart. Just or unjust, killing will always damage your heart to an extent. The more you kill, the more you will lose your sanity, humanity. If not required, why lose it?" Mercer said.

"My sanity, my humanity is constant. I kill those who harbor killing intent toward me. No matter how small it is, no matter if it was driven away due to fear. Once ignited, it must be dealt with."

Logan looked forward. Two swords appeared in his hand. The Frost Monarch’s blade and the Demon Sword. The Demon Sword was a great sword. Yet, he was holding that with just one hand.

The daggers started spinning wildly beside him.

Logan leaned forward slightly. A crimson aura erupted outward as if he was burning in fire.

"Run!" Someone shouted in the swarm of monsters. ℴ

The air howled as dragons started retreating. The ground rumbled as monsters started running in the opposite direction of Logan.

Crack!

The ground beneath Logan’s foot dented, spiderweb like cracks spreading. His grips tightened around the swords. The daggers started spinning more violently. The air temperature rose wildly.

And then...

Logan moved. His body left multiple afterimages behind.

A mixture of crimson and white streak shot forward, it zigzagged along the way, moving left and right unpredictably.

Wherever that streak passed by, heads were tossed in the air. Blood painted the surroundings. Screams tore through the battlefield.

A dragon was whistling through the air with all its strength, trying to leave this hell anyhow.

But the streak was closing in toward it. The dragon could feel it but it didn’t dare look back. And it didn’t dare slow down. Its veins bulged as it pressed forward.

Behind it, the streak circled around a blue dragon. The next moment, the dragon’s body was chopped off in pieces and started falling.

The streak circled around another black dragon.

The same result.

A bulky dragon was next. The streak didn’t circle around this time and instead, it passed right through the dragon.

Booooooom!

The whole dragon was blasted into oblivion as a shockwave erupted.

Sweat drops rolled down the desperate dragon’s massive head.

And then...

It felt cold. Something passed by. The same streak of white and crimson. The next moment, those areas where it was feeling cold just a moment ago, started to burn.

It felt it had no control over its limbs at first. Then the whole lower body. Then the wings followed by the head only. And then... It saw the other dragons rising up.

Splat!

The dragon head hit the ground and was squashed into flesh ketchup.

The million soon became hundreds of thousands.

Logan was like a phantom, moving left and right, claiming lives like a grim reaper.

The people from Flame Empire’s side stared at the streak with their mouths hanging open.

Lilith watched with an unsuppressed amazement. It was like she was enjoying every moment of it. Another person was.

Spade.

His eyes sparkled with excitement.

Schlk!

Schlk!

Schlk!

Bodies fell one after another.

"A single person!" Finally one royal guard from the Flame Empire whispered. "Killing those monsters like they are vegetables. What is he? Human? Demon? A monster himself? Or something else entirely?"

Many heard the question. They too were dealing with the same question in their mind. No answer came.

Five minutes passed. Ten.

The swarm that once looked like a limitless tide of monsters didn’t seem limitless anymore.

Twenty minutes.

Thirty!

Forty!

Still more than two hundred thousand enemies remained. But all the dragons were dealt with by now.

Suddenly the streak came to a halt and Logan could be seen standing.

He raised both the swords and whispered. "Sword Rain."
