Chapter 576: Chapter 576 - Buchanan Family Territory

The trip to the Buchanan Family’s territory took less than a day.

By the time they arrived, it was still early morning. A few other airships could also be seen approaching from different directions.

Most cultivation families that established their own territory outside cultivator cities didn’t live there by themselves.

Instead, their territories were more like cultivator towns with their own people, governing system, and economy. People came to start businesses, some worked for the ruling family, while traveling merchants regularly came and went to buy and sell goods.

The ruling family acted as the lord of the territory, deciding who could or couldn’t reside within their domain.

Since the Buchanan Family was a family of academics and scholars, they didn’t operate many large family-owned industries within their territory. Instead, they allowed others to drive the local economy while collecting taxes accordingly.

Their primary source of income came from managing spirit stone mines.

Even so, judging from how wealthy the Buchanan Family was despite not being the main economic force within their own territory, it was safe to assume they managed several spirit stone mines.

Looking down from the sky, Leyvi could see quite a lot of large mansions scattered throughout the territory.

The largest of them all naturally belonged to the Buchanan Family.

The mansion proudly displayed the Buchanan Family crest, symbolizing their status as the rulers of this territory.

Their crest featured a book, a scroll, and a brush, objects that perfectly represented the scholarly nature of their family.

That said, scrolls and brushes were rarely used anymore.

Jade slips had long since replaced them as the dominant medium for storing information.

The town was already bustling with people preparing for the wedding that was soon to take place. Colorful banners bearing the Buchanan Family crest fluttered gently in the morning breeze, strung across every major street.

Posters of Barcas and Livana, with their faces radiant and smiling, were displayed prominently at intersections and along shopfronts. Vendors had set up stalls selling commemorative trinkets, flowers, and refreshments. Children ran through the streets, weaving playfully between the legs of adults who were too busy to scold them.

The atmosphere felt festive all around, filled with laughter, cheerful chatter, and the occasional burst of music coming from a group of traveling performers rehearsing near the town square.

"This seems quite normal. Our wedding is definitely bigger and better. We won," Caterina said proudly.

"Do you think a wedding is a competition or something?" Leyvi rolled his eyes.

"Hehe, you just established the Leyan Family not long ago, so you probably don’t know," she explained. "Some families absolutely treat weddings like a competition to flex their wealth and power."

"Really? That sounds stupid," Leyvi said without thinking much.

"Are you implying that our wedding is stupid? Hmph! I’m not talking to you today." Caterina turned and walked off to get her daughters from Luna.

Leyvi stood there dumbfounded. What was wrong with this cat lady?

"Darling, you made a mistake." Nala shook her head. Her beautiful afro swayed gently with the motion.

"Mistake?"

"Of course it’s a mistake!" Nala said, rubbing her still-round stomach. "Big Sis Rina prepared such a grand wedding for you. It’s considered one of the best in the South Region in a long time. How can you say it’s stupid? That’s going to upset her."

"Eh? I’m not talking about our wedding," Leyvi defended himself quickly. "I was talking about those who treat weddings as competitions."

"That’s the problem, Darling. That’s why she’s upset." Nala pointed out.

Leyvi blinked as realization slowly dawned on him.

"Wait... Is she the one treating weddings like a competition? Competing with who?"

"With everyone else, of course." Nala smiled. "Many girls want their wedding to be the best. Right, Madam?"

"Hehe. That’s true." Anda giggled.

Leyvi was speechless.

He really couldn’t understand this part of women’s logic.

"That’s exactly why I keep postponing our wedding." Anda suddenly declared. "I want to hold a far, far bigger wedding. I want everyone to celebrate our wedding one day!"

"What? Everyone?" Leyvi gulped.

Does she want to hold a worldwide wedding or something?

"Yes!" Anda nodded enthusiastically. "I want the entire universe to witness our ultimate wedding!"

Leyvi nearly fell over.

The entire universe?

Not just the world?

My wife, Anda... do you know how unimaginably vast the universe is? Even a single galaxy is already beyond comprehension.

It’s over. My panda has caught Mr. Bison’s disease. This has definitely entered the realm of delusion.

Afterward, Leyvi still went over to Caterina and coaxed her into a better mood, even though he felt he hadn’t done anything wrong.

It was simply part of being a husband.

Sometimes his wives would become upset over things he couldn’t understand, yet they wouldn’t explain the reason, expecting him to somehow figure it out on his own.

Thankfully, he had other wives who understood women’s logic and could explain what mistake he had made.

Leyvi couldn’t help but wonder how men in monogamous relationships managed.

If their wife refused to explain why she was upset, did they have to solve the mystery all by themselves?

Did becoming a husband also require becoming a diviner?

...

When the sun had risen a little higher, Leyvi and the others finally disembarked from the airship.

Kajol and the group of Spiritual Cultivators had also come along as part of their entourage. All of them looked excited, as this would be their first time attending a wedding of this magnitude.

On the other hand, the Leyan Family had already experienced Leyvi and Caterina’s city-wide wedding, so this wasn’t particularly surprising to them.

That said, Barcas and Livana’s upcoming wedding was undoubtedly a grand occasion in its own right.

"Please state where you’re from and show me your invitation." One of the gate guards said as the Leyan Family approached.

"We’re the Leyan Family from the South Region." Leyvi replied with a smile.

The guards were caught off guard and glanced at one another.

"The South Region? Why would someone from so far away come here? And I’ve never heard of the Leyan Family before." One of the guards said.

"We’re good friends with both the groom and the bride. That’s why we’re here." Leyvi answered.

The guards exchanged another glance.

They had never heard that Young Master Barcas had any close friends. He was known as the quiet type who rarely interacted with anyone besides his younger sister.

That was one of the reasons his marriage had become such a major topic throughout the territory. Not only was the bride a woman of unknown background, they had even had a child together before getting married.

Could Young Master Barcas’ future wife be from the South Region?

The guards subconsciously began piecing the information together.

While Leyvi was still waiting for Anda to hand him the invitation, a burst of laughter came from behind them.

"Kakakaka! Where did this group of country bumpkins come from? They actually dare claim they’re friends with Young Master Barcas. Have you ever seen anyone so shameless?"

Leyvi turned around and saw an extravagantly dressed young man standing in the neighboring queue with several companions behind him. Judging from the family crest embroidered on their robes, they were clearly another cultivation family from this region.

"Anda, do I still look like a country bumpkin?" Leyvi looked down at his outfit before asking. "I even dressed properly for today’s wedding."

"I think you look more dashing than usual." Anda smiled. "He’s probably just jealous."

"I think so too. That’s usually how it goes." Leyvi nodded in agreement.

"What did you just say?" the young man snapped. "Me? Jealous of a country bumpkin like you? Do you even know who I am?"

"There it is!" Leyvi’s eyes lit up as he turned toward Sayu. "Sayu! That’s one of the lines you’ve always wanted to hear in real life. The classic arrogant young master, ’Do you know who I am?’ line. You can cross that one off your list now."

Sayu froze.

A moment later, her face turned bright red with embarrassment.

Husband! Why would you announce something like that?!

There were indeed plenty of cliché novel lines she had secretly hoped to hear at least once in real life.

But that was supposed to stay between the two of them. It was one of their private pillow talks! Now everyone knew she kept a checklist of cliché novel scenes in her head.

At the same time, the young man was equally dumbfounded. What the heck is wrong with this guy? Why isn’t he getting offended?

At the back of the group, Dorin Homun looked at the young man with pity. She had been in the same situation when she first met Leyvi in the past. This kind of taunting simply would not work on him.

"Enough, Roman. How many times do I have to tell you to mind your manners? Don’t make a fool out of yourself," an elder in the group reprimanded the young man.

Normally he would have let his grandson act this way, but he could tell that Leyvi was clearly not the type to be affected by such words. It was better to stop now before the boy humiliated himself further.

"Yes, Grandfather," Roman answered. He still glanced at Leyvi with clear resentment.

The elder showed their invitation, and their group was allowed to enter.

Anda finally brought out their own invitation and passed it to Leyvi.

"Here you go," Leyvi said as he handed the invitation to the guard.

"What?? Gol... golden card!" the guard exclaimed.

Anyone who held a golden invitation card was considered one of the Buchanan Family’s most honored guests. They had to be treated with the utmost respect and given preferential treatment.

The guard had not expected this odd-looking group to be valued so highly by the family. He no longer doubted that they were truly Young Master Barcas’ good friends.

The elder who had just passed through the gate also heard the exclamation.

What? Did my grandson just offend someone very important?
