I Can Extract Divine Power
Chapter 704 215: Drunken Daoist, Takes 3 Heads (3)
"Anyone whose Dao conflicts with mine shall be killed. Those who do not interfere with my path are of no concern to me."
"And your Dao conflicts with mine."
The Grand Elder's head snapped up. He scrambled to his feet, trying to flee.
After hearing those words, he knew the Drunken Daoist intended to kill him—to utterly erase him.
He'd be a fool not to run now.
But before he could take more than a few steps, dense black clouds abruptly gathered in the sky.
Then, a bolt of lightning as thick as a barrel descended from the heavens, striking him squarely.
"The Five Thunders Technique!"
Charred black from head to toe, the Grand Elder struggled to turn his head.
Cracks spiderwebbed across his skin, and blood gushed out freely.
Even his Divine Soul was shattered to pieces by the terrifying bolt.
"We rescued you, and this is how you repay me? If the Wild Taoist Sect finds out about this, they'll flay you alive!"
The Grand Elder struggled to get the words out.
The Drunken Daoist simply stepped past the Grand Elder, levitated into the air, and gazed in the direction of Lingyun Dao.
'It's been a long time since I've walked the mortal realm. Let's see how the world has changed. I wonder what it's become after all this time.'
His figure slowly faded, dissolving into motes of starlight that flew toward Lingyun Dao.
Below, the Grand Elder stood frozen, his eyes wide in death. He was now just a corpse.
His blood soaked into the ground, staining the earth a deep, dark red.
...
Lingyun Dao was a picture of prosperity.
The streets were teeming with people, an endless stream of vendors and customers haggling and hawking their wares.
The Drunken Daoist, clad in a Daoist Robe, strolled through the streets of Lingyun Dao, his eyes filled with curiosity as he took in the sights.
He then spotted a commoner and tapped him gently on the shoulder.
The man was haggling at a stall. When the Drunken Daoist tapped his shoulder, he turned around instinctively and saw the Daoist beckoning to him.
Not quite knowing why, he inexplicably followed the Drunken Daoist to a corner of the street.
Then, the Drunken Daoist touched a finger to the center of the man's forehead.
A few breaths passed. When the man recovered from his stupor, he found the Daoist was gone.
'What just happened? Why am I standing here?'
The man was bewildered.
But he didn't dwell on it. He returned to the stall and resumed his haggling with the merchant.
...
Meanwhile, the Drunken Daoist had already reached another street.
'The Era of Ten Thousand Cities was so prosperous back then, yet now only the Four Great Countries remain,' the Drunken Daoist thought as he walked. 'It seems the endless wars of that time caused a great deal of irreparable damage.'
'Among the Four Great Countries today, the Daoist Sect of the Great Zhou Country isn't the strongest; the one in the Great Yue Country seems quite powerful, actually. But since I awakened in Great Zhou, I might as well pay a visit to the strongest person in Lingyun Dao.'
With that thought, the Drunken Daoist arrived at the entrance to the Observatory.
Two members of the Ding Division were standing guard at the entrance.
When they saw the Drunken Daoist in his robe, their eyes showed a hint of confusion.
The reason was simple: though he wore a Daoist Robe, its style was slightly different from what was currently in fashion.
It was largely the same, but the small differences gave it a distinct, unusual air.
The Ding Division member on the left saw him approach and blocked his path. "Daoist," he said, "this is the Observatory. Unauthorized personnel are not permitted inside. If you are here on Jianghu business, you may explain it to me, and I will report to Lord Wang of the Observatory."
The Drunken Daoist stopped and glanced at the Ding Division member. "I am here to see Shen Bai. Be so good as to announce that the Drunken Daoist has come to call."
"'Drunken Daoist?'"
Hearing those two words, the Ding Division member frowned.
He had been stationed in Lingyun Dao for a long time but had never heard of anyone called the Drunken Daoist.
Besides, far too many factions from the Jianghu had come to visit the Observatory recently.
Lord Shen had given orders to refuse all meetings unless the matter was of great importance; Wang Teng and Ma Yuan were to receive any visitors instead.
After a moment's thought, the Ding Division member said, "I will speak with Lord Wang. Please wait here for a moment, Daoist."
The Drunken Daoist frowned and waved his sleeve. "I am not here to see your Lord Wang. I am here to see your Lord Shen."
Hearing the unfriendly tone in the Drunken Daoist's voice, the Ding Division member said slowly, "Daoist, Lord Shen is not someone just anyone can meet. I hope you understand. If you wish to build a relationship with the Observatory, we can take you to Lord Wang. Lord Shen has recently been in closed-door Cultivation."
The Drunken Daoist clasped his hands behind his back and strode toward the Observatory.
Seeing this, the two guards moved quickly to intercept him.
But in that instant, their vision blurred, and the Drunken Daoist's figure vanished from before them.
When they looked again, the Drunken Daoist was standing inside the Observatory's courtyard.
"We have an intruder! Respond immediately!"
The Ding Division member bellowed.
As his voice faded, a hundred figures appeared in unison within the Observatory.
Every single one of them possessed the power of the Celestial Spirit Realm.
Wang Teng and Ma Yuan strode quickly from their rooms, surrounding the Drunken Daoist.
Surrounded by numerous masters of the Celestial Spirit Realm, the Drunken Daoist remained calm, his hands still clasped behind his back. He shook his head and said, "I do not wish to cause trouble, nor do I wish to kill without reason. I only kill those whose principles are at odds with my own. I have come today merely to meet Shen Bai."
