Chapter 176: Chapter 176: A Familiar Face

"Keep watching them," an elder ordered. "We need to identify their master."

The scouts hurried away.

Meanwhile, the elemental users at the frontline continued staring toward the approaching group.

The closer they came, the clearer their figures became. The Wind Sovereign Roc remained in the air, while the nine-tailed lightning beast moved through the monsters below.

Between them, a young man fought with calm precision, using ice, wind and lightning to destroy every beast that stood in his way.

Some elemental users recognized his face immediately.

Others needed a little longer.

Then someone near the front of the formation spoke, his voice filled with disbelief.

"Wait... isn’t that Damon?"

The name spread through the nearby ranks.

"Damon Calloway?"

"That Damon?"

"How is he here?"

The elders in battle turned sharply toward the battlefield.

And as they finally got a clear view of the young man leading the group, their expressions changed.

It was Damon.

The very person they had once dismissed as a useless noble, was now standing before them with an overwhelming force of Spirit Elementals.

For a moment, no one knew what to say.

Some stared in shock, unable to reconcile the young man they remembered with the powerful figure cutting through the beast tide.

Others felt a surge of relief, realizing that the person approaching them might be the only reason their frontline could survive.

But among the elders, that relief was mixed with anger, shame and disbelief.

They had thought Damon was a failure.

Now, the same young man was advancing toward them, saving the very people who had once looked down on him.

And none of them could deny what they were seeing.

Damon Calloway had arrived.

Meanwhile, he continued advancing, cutting down the remaining beasts as his group finally reached the frontline.

Caelia and Snow joined the fight shortly after, while Shiro moved closer to the exhausted defenders. With their arrival, the number of fighters attacking the beast tide increased, and the remaining monsters were quickly overwhelmed.

But that was all.

Only two humans and four Spirit Elementals had torn through an enormous beast tide that had nearly wiped out the entire frontline.

The ground behind them was covered with the bodies of fallen beasts, while traces of ice, wind and lightning still lingered in the air.

The elemental users stared at the scene in disbelief.

Kane was among them, his eyes fixed on Damon. He could hardly believe what he was seeing.

Damon Calloway.

He had been certain that Damon was dead. After all, the young man had disappeared under circumstances that left little hope of survival. Yet here he was, standing among powerful Spirit Elementals and fighting as though the battlefield posed no real threat to him.

Kane’s gaze moved between Damon and the spirits surrounding him.

The nine-tailed lightning beast, the Wind Sovereign Roc, and now a Frost Qilin.

He had heard the reports whispered on the frontline, but seeing them with his own eyes was an entirely different matter.

When did he become this strong?

But Kane couldn’t find an answer.

And he wasn’t the only one struggling to understand what was happening.

The other elemental users were equally stunned. Some still remembered Damon as the useless young noble who had failed to awaken a conventional elemental affinity. Just a few had heard about his achievements in Frostveil Expanse, but they had never imagined he could possess this level of strength.

Yet the young man they had once looked down on was now standing before them, effortlessly cutting through beasts that had pushed them to the edge of defeat.

Damon, however, paid little attention to their reactions.

He had more important things to deal with.

A group of Thunderfang Wolves rushed toward the weakened formation, and he immediately raised his hand. Several ice spears formed in the air before shooting forward, piercing through the beasts and leaving their bodies scattered across the ground.

"Shiro, use Winter’s Blessing on everyone here."

Shiro turned toward him.

The Frost Qilin understood the instruction, though the scale of the task was something he had never attempted before.

Winter’s Blessing was a support art that could improve the condition of those within its reach, helping them endure harsh conditions and maintain their strength. But covering an entire frontline was a different challenge altogether.

Shiro’s eyes glowed with a deep blue light.

A gentle wave of ice spread from his body, and a thin, icy glow began to appear around the elemental users.

The light passed over the frontline, reaching even those who had been too exhausted to stand. A faint chill settled over their bodies, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. Instead, it felt refreshing, as though a heavy burden had been lifted from their shoulders.

Shiro continued channeling the art, gradually expanding its reach until the entire formation was covered.

Damon glanced at the defenders.

"Well? Are you planning to stare at us all day?"

His casual remark caught several elemental users off guard.

"You’re welcome to keep watching, of course, but I doubt it’ll help you fight any better."

A few people looked at one another, unsure how to respond.

Caelia couldn’t help smiling at his words.

Even in the middle of a battlefield, Damon still had time to tease people.

He turned back toward the approaching beasts.

"Come on. We still have plenty to deal with."

The elemental users finally noticed the icy glow surrounding their bodies.

Their breathing had become steadier, and the pain from their wounds seemed less distracting. The exhaustion hadn’t disappeared completely, but their minds felt clearer, and they could concentrate on their surroundings without struggling as much.

One of the defenders clenched his fist.

"My body feels lighter..."

"Mine too! I can focus again!"

The effects of Winter’s Blessing were clear.

Even those who had been close to collapsing from fatigue could now move. The thin icy glow helped them endure their fatigue and reduced the strain they had been struggling with.

The frontline had been given a chance to fight again.

"Don’t waste this opportunity!" an elder shouted. "Reinforce the formation and push them back!"

The elemental users immediately responded.
