His finger stayed on the call option for a moment, but in the end, he did not touch it.

If he was going to talk to his uncle about this matter, he preferred to start the conversation when he had more time.

Besides, nine months had already passed since this matter and since this message.

And it was not as if he had no guesses.

"Could it be related to Darian?"

Whatever it was, he could ask about it later, now it was time for Ironsoul the Blacksmith.

The first message had been sent almost two weeks after he entered the Special Area.

"If you have time today, come here, I need to talk to you about a few final details of the armor."

Lian raised an eyebrow slightly, so the old man had reached something during the construction that needed his opinion.

The next message had come almost one month later.

"You didn’t come, I continued according to my own judgment."

Lian could not stop himself from smiling.

The next message came one week after that.

"The armor is ready."

His eyes shone for a moment, so it really was complete, his Ancient-Rank armor was ready to use.

The next message came another seven days later.

"Then why aren’t you coming?"

This time Lian gave a short laugh, he could imagine the old man’s face while writing the message.

A man who had probably spent several weeks working on the armor, and now its owner had not even shown up to see it.

The old man probably did not know that he had gone to the Special Area, and the next message confirmed it.

"I found out today that you were also one of the people in the Special Area, I’ll keep the armor for you for now."

Lian’s smile became a little calmer, then he typed a message.

"I’m back, thanks for keeping the armor for me, when can I come to pick it up?" He then sent it.

He looked at the message for a few seconds, and the corner of his mouth rose.

Finally, the armor he had ordered before entering the Special Area was ready.

After all the changes his body had gone through during his first evolution, he was really curious to see what difference Ancient-Rank equipment would make to his strength.

But there was still one more important message left... Commander Gareth.

Lian opened the conversation, the message had been sent only two weeks ago, so the arrest of the white-eyed man really was a recent event.

"I need to talk to you about the case of the fallen border city, we caught the main person behind the incident."

He continued reading.

"He has almost refused to cooperate since his arrest, but he said he would only agree to talk to you."

The young Vorhelm’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he read the last line.

"If you see this message after returning, let me know."

Lian did not move for a few seconds, the white-eyed man would only agree to talk to him.

That sick excitement in his voice when he talked about creating a new species, and the last moments of their confrontation.

That day the man had escaped, and he was not strong enough to stop him, but he had finally been caught.

Now things were different, he doubted that man could still be a threat to him or that he needed to worry about him, he had not even thought about him during this time and had almost forgotten about him.

"Why me?" He then quietly said.

Why? What did the white-eyed man want? He knew that man hated him in the strongest way possible, and it would not be strange if he wanted to try to kill him.

But why would he want to talk to him? Did he just want to argue with him with that sick mind of his? Did he want to threaten him? Or, like last time, did he want to say some nonsense?

For now, there was no way to know, he also had no interest in seeing that madman again, but since the commander himself had asked him, he had no problem meeting that madman one more time.

"I’m back, I arrived in the capital today."

The message was sent, and then he lowered the phone for a moment.

Until a few minutes ago, he only planned to find Kain and pick up his armor, now three separate matters were waiting for him.

His uncle, Gareth, and Ironsoul the Blacksmith, and this was probably only the beginning of the things that had happened during his nine months away.

Lian raised his phone again, almost none of the remaining notifications were personal, and all of them had been automatically sent by the academy to all students.

Changes to the academic calendar, reports from Base #3, student rankings, mission notifications requested by the academy, and finally, the official call for the final exams.

He opened a few of them, but soon realized that he would need much more time to understand all the changes from the past nine months.

More important than these automatic notifications was reading the news about the country and the situation in the Ruined Realm.

Although he had heard a few things here and there, they were only random pieces of information, and he had no idea how the situation of their world and the Ruined Realm had been during this time.

His finger moved toward the news section to take a look at them, but just before he opened it—

Click.

The sound of the door unlocking came, and he raised his head.

The door slowly opened, and a young man with brown hair entered the room, Lian first saw his face and then noticed the changes.

Kain’s hair was longer.

Not enough to completely change his appearance, but it was no longer as neatly short as before, and part of his hair had fallen over his forehead.

His face also looked more mature, his shoulders were wider and his body was more trained, even the way he stood showed that he had gone through many battles during these nine months.

But his eyes were the same, except that there was a kind of tiredness and pressure deep inside them.

Kain took one step into the room and his eyes fell on his own bed, then he saw his friend, and his foot stopped there.

The young Vorhelm also said nothing for a few seconds.

They had not seen each other for nine months, and for both of them, the other had almost disappeared from their world for part of that time.

They only looked at each other for a few seconds, and then they smiled almost at the same time.

"You finally decided to come back after nine months?!" Kain said with a voice full of laughter, excitement, and a lot of disbelief.

"We got into a little too much trouble in there." Lian answered with a laugh.

"A little? Nine damn months!" The Chosen of Light quickly walked forward.

When he reached him, the first thing he did was punch his friend hard on the shoulder, although compared to the things Lian had recently endured, it was more like a friendly hit, and then they firmly shook hands.

"Bastard, I really thought you were dead." Kain said with a wide smile, but for a moment, a very small amount of moisture could be seen in his eyes.

"Well, you weren’t exactly wrong."

"What? What do you mean?"

"We got trapped there, and you can’t even imagine what we faced." Lian sat on the bed again.

"You also can’t guess what happened here while you were gone." Kain kept the same smile for a moment, then his smile became a little strange.

The young Vorhelm thought about the sentence for a moment, but his friend did not give him more time, he went toward his own bed and sat down directly across from Lian.

For a moment, the scene was almost like nine months ago, two friends and two beds facing each other, and a normal conversation in the dormitory, but the appearance of both of them showed that time had really not stopped.

Kain had changed, and Lian? Probably much more.

"You first, I heard only about one-third came back, is that really true?." The Chosen of Light immediately leaned forward with curiosity.

"Yeah."

"Damn..."
