I Begged His Brother to Get Me Pregnant
Chapter 213: Equivalent to an Admission
Chapter 213: Chapter 213: Equivalent to an Admission
Julian didn’t even have to actually see them holding hands!
The mere thought of it was more than he could bear.
The warmth he once had, the loving care he used to receive, was now being given to someone else. Who could possibly stand that?
It was like death by a thousand cuts!
"You can’t face it? Did you ever stop to think how I felt when I found out you wanted me dead, that you were ready to sign my death warrant, all for Jane Jacobs?"
That feeling was far, far worse than what Julian just described!
"..."
"You’re the one who did something disgusting! If you hadn’t tricked me into going to the Sterling Estate and locked me in, I never would have gone into Ryan Sterling’s room! This is all your fault, so you have no right to say a single word!"
At that moment, Evelyn had no other choice!
If she wanted to live, she had to get pregnant.
After all, back then, she had no idea about Ryan Sterling’s feelings for her, let alone that he had returned to the country specifically for her!
It was fair to say she was just grateful that he had agreed to help her conceive a child that day.
Even later, when she found out that Ryan Sterling had orchestrated the entire thing, she couldn’t bring herself to resent him.
After all, she was the one who had the misfortune of meeting a faithless man like Julian first.
Besides, she had made her own mistakes.
So, after everything came to light, Evelyn had thought it over and come to a conclusion: she would take responsibility for her own mistakes.
As long as the Sterling Family left her alone, she was willing to put it all behind her.
"I know... I was horribly wrong! But haven’t I been punished by losing you and my family? You saw how my own mother tore into me! Eve, if you don’t think that’s enough, then punish me yourself, okay? Make my life hell. Let me slave away for you for the rest of my life!"
"No. I just want you to stay far away from me."
"That’s the one thing I can’t promise you."
Evelyn laughed. "I can’t stop you from putting on a show. Go on, play the part of the devoted lover all you want! I only called to tell you to take back your donation! My brother and I don’t need it!"
Julian paused for a moment before asking, "Aren’t you happy the school is giving your brother special treatment? He’s at a crucial point in his studies! Access to better teachers will be a huge help to his grades!"
His words were tantamount to an admission of guilt.
Evelyn frowned. "My brother is already an excellent student. He doesn’t need you to do any of this."
"Eve, don’t read too much into it! As an entrepreneur, I make donations to schools every year! I just decided to focus this year’s on Alex! If it bothers you that much, then just tell yourself it has nothing to do with you! I simply want to sponsor this school, and I want to sponsor its top senior. That’s my prerogative."
"..."
"I’m not wrong, am I? After all, by sponsoring Alex, The Sterling Corporation gains a good reputation. It’s not just about you. In fact, you’re only a very small part of the reason."
"I still don’t want it."
Julian chuckled. "But the money’s already been given. It can’t be taken back. The school has probably already invested the funds in campus projects! Can you... come up with enough money to pay the school back so they can refuse my donation?"
