To start from the beginning: the great war at the Sabaody Archipelago. In that single battle, dozens of powerful forces were destroyed, and its impact was felt across the entire world.

One of the Four Emperor crews vanished completely. Five kings of powerful nations died. The Marines lost their Commander-in-Chief.

Three of the Ten Great Families were wiped out. And beyond these, countless other factions were broken. That one battle extinguished the ambitions of innumerable people.

The whole world was shrouded in the shadow of Phantom.

But as time passed, and Phantom itself vanished from the scene, the world eventually sank back into utter chaos.

That chaos has continued until now. Most notably, a few years ago, the Revolutionary Army and the World Government clashed in a massive war.

The Government won, but the aftermath was far-reaching. The most visible change was the departure of Marine Admiral Aokiji.

"So dull. Without us, the world is just this boring."

Vladimir shook his head. Standing on the top floor of the cathedral-like building, he looked out over all of Mysteria.

The nation on this island had long been infiltrated and controlled by Doflamingo. In practice, this island was already fully within Phantom’s sphere of influence.

But there was another territory under their control — the Island of the Dead. It currently floated seven thousand meters above sea level.

There, research into Artificial Zoan-type Devil Fruits was largely complete, and mass production was about to begin.

It had taken longer than expected, but the result was satisfactory.

"Come to think of it... Whitebeard still owes me fifty fruits. Charlotte Linlin also owes fifty. Dragon owes me fifteen. And the Saintess from that Sky Island kingdom owes me seventy-five... Hahaha."

Vladimir couldn’t help but grin. "Time to collect my debts. Nine years have passed; surely they’ve prepared what they owe."

But there was a problem: who should send to collect?

He couldn’t go himself as Emperor Vladimir. If any of the Dominion Commanders appeared, it would cause an immediate sensation — and he wasn’t ready to officially announce Phantom’s return just yet.

Ordinary subordinates lacked the necessary combat power. The Shadow Fiend would have been a good choice, though.

"Never mind. I’ll just unlock a new transformation. If it’s not strong enough, I’ll send the Shadow Fiend instead."

He had started with 280 fruits, used 22, and still had plenty left.

For a mere new avatar, it was no great cost.

Vladimir took ten fruits out of the Shadow Realm and absorbed them all at once.

Now that his main body’s avatar had reached 4-star level, the cost of unlocking new transformations had risen — requiring at least seven fruits.

But Vladimir had plenty of resources, so he spent ten without hesitation.

Instantly, the ten fruits turned to ash. Their mysterious energy was absorbed by his genes, and transformation began.

In a flash, lightning crackled.

Blinding golden electricity exploded outward.

It was as if lightning from the heavens had struck the spot, filling the air with constant crackling and popping sounds.

The disturbance was so great that everyone on Mysteria noticed it. At that moment, countless people looked up, wondering what was happening.

More than ten seconds passed before the lightning gradually faded. Vladimir’s human form had vanished, replaced by a four-legged, tiger-like creature.

Its body was brilliant gold, covered in smooth fur with black stripes. Its underbelly was pure white.

It had a pale blue tail with a sharp, jagged outline shaped like a spark or flame.

On its back lay dark purple thunderclouds. Around its face grew thick, white fur, giving it a truly majestic appearance.

"This is the new transformation?" Vladimir examined his own form, amazed. "Isn’t this straight out of Pokémon?"

Vladimir spoke to himself, while sensing the power of this new form.

Overall, it was very strong — though not on the level of someone like Death God Aizen. It should be roughly equal in strength to the 3-star Sea Dragon.

"Hmm? Someone’s coming." 𝔣𝖗ⅇℯ

With his senses, Vladimir clearly detected an approaching presence.

As a divine beast, Raikou’s perception of energy and aura was incredibly sharp — he could even hear the heartbeats of people far below.

With a thought, Vladimir sprang forward on all fours and moved instantly away.

"Extreme Speed!"

Whoosh!

In the blink of an eye, Raikou’s paws began to glow, and his entire body turned into a streak of golden lightning, shooting away at tremendous speed.

In an instant, he covered hundreds of meters and vanished from the rooftop.

By the time the person reached the roof, the place was completely empty.

"What was that just now?" The man scratched his head. "Better report this to Lord Doflamingo."

Leaving that situation aside...

Vladimir was already racing across the ocean. To ordinary eyes, he was nothing but a blur — a flash of lightning too fast to even see his back.

"So fast! Not as fast as the Archangel’s supersonic flight, but on land or sea, there can’t be anything faster than this!"

In moments, he had left Mysteria far behind and was running atop the waves.

With every step, trails of electricity spilled across the water, while Raikou leaped hundreds of meters ahead.

From a distance, he looked exactly like a bolt of lightning skimming the surface of the sea, shooting straight forward.

After running continuously for half an hour, his speed finally began to drop slightly.

"In terms of speed, it’s incredible... though endurance is only average. But for a burst of acceleration, I can go even faster."

Just then, he spotted a pirate ship ahead.

Without hesitation, he charged straight toward it.

"Captain!" a lookout shouted from the crow’s nest. "There’s a tiger running right at us!"
