Chapter 800: Medicine Is for Saving People

A flash of embarrassment crossed Shui Xingqi’s fair face.

The Shuiyuan Clan’s elders had extraordinary medical skills, and he had studied under them a little since childhood. If anyone else had told him they could help his mother move freely again, he would have never believed them.

Yet, he was more than half-convinced he could trust what Miss Ye said.

Because over half a month ago, she had visited the Shuiyuan Clan and woken his mother with just a single pill. The clan elders had studied it but couldn’t identify some of its ingredients.

What they could be sure of was that it was an absolutely top-grade medicine.

"Sit down and we can talk," Gu Shuo said, patting Shui Xingqi on the shoulder before glancing at his daughter.

Ye Qianning took a couple of steps to the table and sat down. She couldn’t help but ask, "Dad, since when did your temper get so good?"

The Gu Shuo of the past had been quite flamboyant, but now his temperament and methods seemed to have changed.

"Look at my age," Gu Shuo chuckled.

"Thirty-six is your prime."

’Thirty-six, wealthy, and handsome. He must be incredibly sought-after.’

’Ten years seemed to have smoothed out many of Dad’s rough edges. His old arrogance was gone, replaced by a composed demeanor, and his gaze was sharper than before.’

Though Gu Shuo claimed to be old, he subconsciously touched his face upon hearing his daughter’s words, a pleased look spreading across it.

"Miss Ye, I apologize for my offense just now," Shui Xingqi said, cupping his hands in a salute to Ye Qianning.

Ye Qianning looked at him. "You’re quite perceptive, Young Master Shui."

’If he hadn’t apologized to Gu Shuo just now, the bottle of pills would have been the limit. She had no obligation to help someone who disrespected her family.’

"Miss Ye, can you tell me about the treatment method now?" Shui Xingqi asked.

Ye Qianning looked to Gu Shuo.

Gu Shuo gave a slight nod.

Ye Qianning turned back to him. "One pill every seven days will keep her conscious for three days at a time. For a full recovery that eradicates the root cause, she will need long-term treatment. This involves acupuncture with medicated silver needles, administered at least twice daily to seal her acupoints. As for the technique..." Ye Qianning paused before continuing, "With the current chaos in Nanyuan, my family will have a lot to deal with. I can’t spare the time to travel to the Shuiyuan Clan right now."

Shui Xingqi grew anxious. "Whatever you need to handle, the Shuiyuan Clan can help you with it."

"I won’t trouble Young Master Shui with business matters. While I can’t travel to the Shuiyuan Clan for now, you can return and have a physician come here. I can teach him the technique."

"Miss Ye, you’re willing to teach your acupuncture technique?" Shui Xingqi asked in shock.

"Yes."

"Why?"

’Every physician had unique techniques that they would never teach to others lightly, yet she hadn’t hesitated in the slightest.’

"A physician’s duty is to save people. If I teach someone, there will be one more healer in the world, and that means one more person can potentially be saved. What is there to question?" When it came to her medical skills, she was never stingy.

As Shui Xingqi looked at the stunningly beautiful, fifteen-or-sixteen-year-old girl before him, he was suddenly struck by a sense of inadequacy. He felt even more ashamed of his arrogant words from earlier.

Shui Xingqi stared at her, the surprise in his eyes slowly fading. After a moment of silence, he said, "I have studied medicine with the clan elders. I humbly ask for your guidance, Miss Ye."

"Alright. Starting the day after tomorrow, come to the Immortal Sea Building every day to study for two hours. If your aptitude is good, you should be able to master it in a little over a month."

"Thank you."

Shui Xingqi’s previous arrogance had vanished before them, replaced by an expression of deep respect.
