I Am Zeus

Chapter 402: Malakhiel Notices

The damage room had barely cooled before the effect left local claim

Sera ’s addendum was sent into formal lines. Reports of residual surge under temporary custody followed. By the time Zeus and others were pulled back into the main hall, Jehovah was already fielding messages he did not want to hear, and Tohhuhu paced like a man who knew noise had increased danger beyond the surge.

"This is no longer contained," said Jehovah

His brother sent him a look. "Training breach in a sealed room."

"Active residual force rewriting Continuum structure under our supervision," said Jehovah, "then Sera puts language to it. That combination is not local."

Athena stood near Zeus, watching him still for aftershocks of the event. "Meaning what?"

"Meaning family authority will notice," said Tohu before Jehovah could soften it, "and family authority never shows up with gentle curiosity."

He was right.

The outer marks of the holding claim had changed in a way none of the prior entries had. Sera’ s appearance had been a sharp thing. Jehovah’s presence had been cold, absolute. This was dominion pressure, heavier and less concerned with argument or ownership of field.

The nine noticed at once. Poseidon lifted the trident a fraction. Kratos moved closer to the open floor. Hades’ green light focused under his skin. Even Loki lost the half-smile.

The thing that entered was tall, dark-crowned with restrained authority marks and the kind of presence that rearranged the hall around it. It had no hurry, only indignation.

Tohu exhaled through his teeth. "Malakhiel."

Jehovah inclined his head the smallest fraction. "Elder brother."

Malakhiel’s gaze passed over them both then the nine, then the residual damage reports still hovering in the air as recorded fact. When he spoke, his voice was even and finishing.

"Public noise around incomplete family work. A residual with carrier from discarded lower assignment. Temporary custody conflicts. Training damage. Sera filing formal challenge. Tell me which part of this you two thought might be silent?"

Tohu opened his hands. "The carrier needed control instruction. The force is active. Leaving it blind was worse."

"Worse for who?" said Malakhiel, "For the local hall? Lesser concern in your pride over ancient residue? Or for the House name tied to a lower-origin surge event?"

Jehovah was calmer when he replied, "The problem is factual. The residue survives judgment and is growing under Continuum density. We are keeping control."

Malakhiel’s gaze settled on Zeus, properly, not as the source but for disturbance. "This is the carrier."

Zeus met the look. "My named is Zeus. The force is inside me, not loose for family filing."

"I know your name," said Malakhiel, "I am more interested in the fact that my brothers closed an assignment poorly, let residual authority become active in full consequence, and now you bicker at method while lesser operators like Sera use the event to climb."

Poseidon bristled, "Lesser operators. That woman extracted us from a dying world while your bloodline left us unwatched."

Malakhiel did not turn fully toward him. "Yes. Now she has leverage over a House embarrassment. That is the politics."

Hades’ voice, low and heavy, "Our world’s end is not a House embarrassment. It is the murder of countless your family forgot."

Malakhiel’s eyes moved to Hades for the briefest moment. "I am not here for inventory of your dead. I am here because two of my brothers have turned abandoned work into instability. The Continuum perceives instability. Rivals perceive it more."

Sun Wukong leaned on his staff. "So you came to help?"

"I came to finish the amateur handling," said Malakhiel

He came further into the hall, and the claim marks themselves seemed to acknowledge greater authority. Sera’s dispute, Tohu’s custody, J ehovah’s supervision were all there, suddenly smaller in scale.

"There are clean solutions," Malakhiel continued, "seal the residual force, confiscate the carrier into direct House authority, remove Sera’s options to use this as a ladder. Quiet the board before a third interest takes further claim."

Athena stepped forward, "seal and confiscate are terms meaning you take Zeus and decide we are incident."

"You are," said Malakhiel with no cruelty, making it worse, "the residual force is the instability. He is the carrier. The rest of you are useful attaché. Possibly. Central, no."

Zeus felt the chaos inside himself react to the threat in those words and forced it still. "If you decide to confiscate me as stray you will not have a quiet board. You will have a fight in the center of your clean solution."

Malakhiel regarded him almost like an assessment. "You sound as if that would not be the first time a lower-origin being made resistance confusion with leverage."

Tohu took a half-step not in between but a step away, making his space known. "Confiscation without understanding the nature of the force risks carrier death. Residue release unbound. I already said that to Jehovah. Sealing without depth-mapping is the same danger. That is why instruction began."

"And your instruction cracked one of your rooms," Malakhiel noted, "so your record is not backing you."

Jehovah’s expression did not change "What do you want, Malakhiel?"

"I want to reduce it," said Malakhiel, "no more open incidents of training, no more room for Sera to climb, no more reminder the bloodline leaves active work. The residue is either put under direct House control or sealed until it stops making noise. Those are the clean options."

Loki’s voice joined from the side, "The nine?"

Malakhiel did not hesitate, "restriction for the duration while resolving central problem. If they prove useful to order they may remain. Proof of additional noise and they are removed from field."

The nine stood together under his statement and for a moment, the previous conditional cooperation felt less like a tactic, more the last thing they shared.

Zeus shifted between Malakhiel, Tohu, and Jehovah. One wanted dominion quiet. One wanted residual mastery. One wanted structural claim. None of them began with the nine as people.

"You can call it clean," said Zeus, "from our end it sounds like another ending with different words."

Malakhiel turned toward the outer marks as if he had heard enough. "Then prepare your options before the House decides improvement is no longer available."

He left the hall under the same weight of authority as he came, and the silence after him was thick.

Tohu rubbed at his jaw, "he will not wait long for the next move."

Jehovah was quiet, "No. He will not."

Athena looked at Zeus, "the board just climbed again."

Zeus acknowledged it, felt the residual force shift inside him as if it, too, recognized larger trouble at range.

Sera wanted claim.

Tohu wanted the force.

Jehovah wanted control.

Malakhiel wanted the whole matter silenced for the house.

And the nine remained in the center of all the hunger, with less room than before and no easy way out.
