I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 769: "Knowledge is Power" Qualitative Change (2)
But the Mutated Giant Ape was in the worst shape of all. It had no Divine Artifact for defense, nor any defensive skills, so it could only rely on its formidable body to endure the attacks.
But even if its body were made of iron, how many nails could it take?
The Mutated Giant Ape—or perhaps it should be called a “Bone Ape” now—had a ruined body. Scarcely any flesh remained on its massive skeleton, though its powerful Self-Healing Power was working rapidly to repair the damage.
Trapped in this sealed space, Su Ze was not spared either. Most of his liquid body had been evaporated, forcing him to shatter a Regeneration Core to restore himself.
Su Ze had his Regeneration Cores, and Yuan Shan’s injuries were relatively light, so he was quickly swallowing Healing Medicine. Only the Mutated Giant Ape had nothing. It had to rely solely on its self-healing, despite having suffered the gravest injuries.
Su Ze wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by. The moment his Regeneration Core healed his wounds, he used Rhino Charge and lunged at the Mutated Giant Ape.
He also released the Dark Blood Giant Beast to join the assault on the Mutant Giant Beast. Strike while it’s down and finish it off!
Yuan Shan’s expression changed. Shoving medicine into his mouth, he flew toward Su Ze and his beast.
Just then, another figure suddenly appeared, blocking Yuan Shan’s path.
“You’re courting death!”
Yuan Shan was burning with anxiety. Seeing that the one blocking him was a mere Star God, his face twisted in fury, and he casually threw a punch.
It was one thing for Su Ze, a Moon God, to be able to hold his own against him. But now even a Star God dared to provoke him?
‘You people have no respect for a Sun God!’
Yuan Shan’s punch obliterated the person in his way. But then his vision blurred, and the same person reappeared before him.
Yuan Shan hefted the mangled corpse in his hand, confirming that he had indeed just killed someone. How could an identical one appear again?
‘A clone?’
He didn’t realize this was Mr. Ya’s “Tail Cutting for Survival” skill.
That’s right—the one who had stopped Yuan Shan was none other than Mr. Ya.
Yuan Shan felt provoked. It was like a god trying to crush an ant with a finger, only for the ant to survive.
“Let’s see how many lives you have!”
Yuan Shan’s fist crossed space, smashing toward Mr. Ya once more.
Mr. Ya knew the power gap between him and Yuan Shan was too vast; he would definitely be killed in a single blow. So this time, he directly activated his “Invincibility” skill.
A layer of golden light enveloped him, blocking Yuan Shan’s punch.
Mr. Ya’s Invincibility was also a rule-based skill, and a powerful one at that. It was effective even against opponents one life level higher. Now that he had upgraded it to the eighth rank, it was enough to withstand a single blow from a Sun God.
If Yuan Shan had attacked with that rule-breaking Long Sword, Mr. Ya certainly couldn’t have blocked it. But stopping a punch was no problem.
Failing to kill, or even injure, a mere Star God in two consecutive attacks, on top of being pushed into such a corner by Su Ze, a Moon God, was enough to make Yuan Shan’s composure finally crack.
“Die!”
He held back no longer. The Long Sword that could sever rules appeared in his hand, and he swung it at Mr. Ya with all his might.
This time, it wouldn’t matter if Mr. Ya had any other rule-based life-saving skills.
But as the Long Sword swung down, it struck nothing but air.
Mr. Ya seemed to have evaporated on the spot. Yuan Shan was certain he hadn’t used a spatial skill like the Instant Teleportation Skill to escape, because he hadn’t felt any spatial fluctuations.
His eyes were bloodshot. He scanned his surroundings, and after a few breaths, he finally saw Mr. Ya reappear a short distance away.
This time, Mr. Ya had used his “Nothingness” skill. This wasn’t a rule-based skill, so even Yuan Shan’s Long Sword was useless against Mr. Ya in his intangible state.
Afraid that Yuan Shan would give up chasing him, Mr. Ya quickly taunted him to draw his aggro: “Curly-haired baboon, come and get me!”
In truth, he didn’t need to provoke him; Yuan Shan had no intention of letting him go. He raised his hand, and an arrow condensed from energy shot toward Mr. Ya.
The arrow’s speed surpassed that of light, but Mr. Ya was prepared. His body vanished again, replaced by a shadow.
Yuan Shan roared in fury and looked around, but he couldn’t find a trace of Mr. Ya.
By this point, Mr. Ya was already back on the ship. He had exhausted all his tricks; if he kept pushing his luck, things would get dangerous.
“Boss, this is all I can do to help,” Mr. Ya said with a sigh.
If he were a Moon God, he could have at least stalled Yuan Shan for a while longer. If he were a Sun God, he was confident he could have killed Yuan Shan. But he was only a Star God, so this was the most he could do—buy Su Ze a few extra seconds.
The others on the ship looked even more ashamed. There was nothing they could do.
In fact, those few seconds Mr. Ya had bought for Su Ze were crucial.
It was in those few seconds that Su Ze and the Dark Blood Giant Beast successfully took down the Mutated Giant Ape. By the time Yuan Shan drew his sword and looked around, unable to find Mr. Ya, it was already too late to save the ape.
He could only watch as Su Ze’s sword shattered the Mutated Giant Ape’s head and began to plunder it.
The Evolutionary Material from the Mutated Giant Ape’s body was absorbed by Su Ze. He immediately felt a change in his body—his “Knowledge Is Power” skill was leveling up!
Within his genes, the chain corresponding to “Knowledge Is Power” was being rewritten.
As the “Knowledge Is Power” skill upgraded to the eighth rank, a multitude of special abilities surged through Su Ze, providing supplementary enhancements to his body.
But it wasn’t over yet. The rank of his “Knowledge Is Power” skill was still climbing!
At that moment, Yuan Shan made his move. Seeing the Mutated Giant Ape had been killed, he didn’t hesitate and flew straight for his own ship.
He knew the tide had turned. Staying here was only dangerous; he had lost his chance to kill Su Ze.
Naturally, Su Ze couldn’t let him escape. Disregarding the fact that his skill upgrade was still in progress, he launched a Rhino Charge straight at Yuan Shan.
BANG! Su Ze’s attack knocked Yuan Shan back a step. They exchanged a few blows, but Su Ze was completely suppressed. His “Spongy Body” skill was temporarily on cooldown, leaving him without a way to absorb his opponent’s attacks.
