I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 764: Sun God's Ambush
Su Ze knew that if it weren’t for the seal, the beast would have attacked him without a moment’s hesitation.
He sneered. “Now, cooperate and complete the parasitic process. Don’t resist. If you fight back and cause it to fail, I won’t give you a second chance.”
The Dark Blood Giant Beast was silent for a moment before opening its mouth to reply in human speech, “Yes.”
Su Ze immediately shot out a ball of water that burrowed into the massive Dark Blood Giant Beast’s body, beginning the parasitic process.
…
Half an hour later, Su Ze walked out of the lounge with the Dark Blood Giant Beast, which had shrunk in size.
“What is…?”
The eyes of everyone on the spaceship focused in unison on the small beast behind Su Ze.
The Dark Blood Giant Beast had shrunk to the size of a large dog, but the violent, interwoven energy of darkness and blood emanating from it, along with the unique, savage aura of a Stellar Giant Beast, still drew everyone’s attention.
“He’s a new member of the team. From now on, let’s call him… Mu Mu,” Su Ze announced.
The Dark Blood Giant Beast wanted to protest, but the parasitic bond forced absolute loyalty, making it impossible for him to question his master’s decision. In the end, he just lowered his head and said nothing.
“Did you run into any trouble on the way?” Su Ze asked casually.
“No, we were very careful the whole way. We even spotted some Star Pirates but didn’t engage,” Lin Hua replied.
But he seemed hesitant, as if there was something else he wanted to say.
“What’s wrong?” Su Ze asked.
“A few of us were talking about our experiences selling off the goods and noticed something strange. I don’t know if I’m just being paranoid.”
“Let’s hear it.”
“When Old Waller and I went to sell the spaceships, we happened to find a commerce association buying up used ships at high prices. Their offer was slightly better than anyone else’s, so we ended up selling our large stock of ships to them.”
“We didn’t think much of it at the time, just assuming they were desperate for ships. But after talking with the others, we realized we’d sold many of our low-tier resources to that same association.”
Lin Luo, who was standing nearby, added, “That association was advertising that they were buying all kinds of low-tier resources. They offered better prices for bulk quantities, and their buyback rate was definitely higher than other places. So I contacted the others, and we all ended up selling our low-tier resources to them.”
“So you’re saying a good portion of the spoils we gathered from wiping out pirates was sold to this one association…” Su Ze frowned. “What’s its name?”
“The Four Beasts Commerce Association.”
‘Four Beasts Commerce Association… The name sounds like it’s connected to the Beast Race…’ Su Ze suddenly had an uneasy feeling.
Just then, their spaceship suddenly began to shake violently!
Their Space Jump was forcibly interrupted, and their velocity dropped below the speed of light.
Ambush!
Everyone on the ship was startled. They all shot to their feet to check the situation outside.
“Did we run into Star Pirates?” someone asked.
Star Pirates are usually equipped with devices specifically designed to interrupt a ship’s Space Jump. If it was just Star Pirates, it wouldn’t be a huge problem.
The average Star Pirates weren’t that powerful. Now that Su Ze’s group had a formidable fighter like the Dark Blood Giant Beast, plus their Sun God-level Spaceship, they had nothing to fear.
Su Ze’s expression turned grim. He used the Hero’s detection systems to scan the area and quickly found something.
The vessel that had intercepted them was a spaceship—a Sun God-level Spaceship!
The ship was equipped with a Tier 9 “Space Net” device. A Space Net was a more advanced and expensive piece of equipment than a Star-Catching Net. Though it was called a “net,” it was actually a means of spatial imprisonment.
It worked by isolating and reinforcing a pocket of space, which interrupted a target vessel’s Space Jump and trapped it within that region.
This was far more powerful than the Moon God-level Star-Catching Net installed on the Magic Cube.
‘Whoever can afford this kind of tech isn’t an ordinary band of Star Pirates,’ Su Ze thought. He suspected they had come specifically for them.
Just then, the enemy ship’s hatch opened, and a powerfully built, middle-aged man of the Ape Race stepped out.
‘Just as I thought…’ The moment he saw the Ape Race man, Su Ze was almost certain his vague suspicion was correct.
Hiding inside the ship was no longer an option. Su Ze knew a fight was likely inevitable.
“Stay on the ship. Don’t come out. Dark Blood… Mu Mu, get ready. Support me as soon as the fighting starts.”
After giving the order, Su Ze disembarked from the ship.
“Who are you, and why are you blocking our path?” Su Ze asked.
“Starry Sky Guard Team?” the middle-aged man of the Ape Race asked.
Su Ze feigned a confused look. “What Starry Sky Guard Team?”
The Ape Race man sneered. “Your loot ended up in the hands of my Four Beasts Commerce Association. You can drop the act.”
That completely confirmed Su Ze’s suspicions.
The Four Beasts Commerce Association had intentionally offered high prices for used ships and low-tier resources, as these were the most common assets held by Star Pirates.
It was all a ploy to lure out members of the Starry Sky Guard Team!
Those ships and resources could be traced, after all. The secondhand ships, in particular, were obviously plundered goods.
So Lin Hua, Old Waller, and the others had likely been exposed for a while, under the surveillance of the Four Beasts Commerce Association this whole time.
Fortunately, Su Ze and Dou Yi hadn’t made direct contact with Old Waller’s group while in the Public Star Realm. The Four Beasts Commerce Association probably didn’t know they were the ones who had auctioned off those two bloodline treasures.
‘Of course, the Four Beasts Commerce Association wouldn’t target us for no reason. There has to be a motive.’
And in all his travels, Su Ze’s only run-in with the Beast Race was on Mengxing, where he had killed those few Moon Gods from the Beast Race and taken over their shop.
It seemed that incident was what had brought them here.
“That shop on Mengxing… is it owned by your Four Beasts Commerce Association?” Su Ze asked directly.
“That’s right! The Ape Race Moon God you killed was my son!”
The moment he finished speaking, the middle-aged Ape Race man no longer concealed his killing intent. The powerful aura of a Sun God erupted like a volcano, and a tangible murderous intent locked firmly onto Su Ze.
He leaped into the air, his fist plummeting toward Su Ze like a collapsing star.
“I’ll take your head as an offering to my son!”
