I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate
Chapter 741 - 397: The Mother Tree’s Master Awakens
"We can also dock at those Public Planets along the way to sell some resources. I’m sure we’ll have plenty to sell later on, so we should offload some whenever we get the chance."
After giving these instructions, once the Magic Cube had taken off and successfully departed Jade Plate Star, Su Ze returned to his personal quarters, closed the door, and brought out the Mother Tree’s master.
The Mother Tree’s master had not yet awakened.
He checked the time and waited patiently.
After a moment, Su Ze suddenly felt a wisp of Spiritual Power sweep over him. However, it was blocked when it attempted to pass through the surrounding walls; Su Ze’s quarters were shielded against Spiritual Power.
Su Ze looked at the Mother Tree’s master, who was still lying there with his eyes closed, and a smile touched the corners of his lips. "Senior, since you’re awake, you might as well open your eyes. It’s been a few hundred years since you’ve seen the world, hasn’t it?"
The Mother Tree’s master opened his eyes, looking slightly awkward. His gaze, however, held a hint of vigilance as he asked two standard questions:
"Who are you? And where am I?"
"My name is Su Ze. As for my race, I believe you already have some idea, Senior. I’m from Blue Star."
"We’re currently on my spaceship, located in the territory of the Moon Race."
The Mother Tree’s master rubbed his head and thought for a moment. Several hundred years in a coma had left his mind in a jumble. Too much information was disconnected, and his thoughts were still stuck in the time before he was severely injured and fell unconscious.
After a long while, he looked up and asked, "What year is it? How long was I unconscious?"
Time in the universe was difficult to measure. Every race, and even every planet, had a different calendar. Although a unified cosmic calendar existed, it seemed hardly anyone used it; the various races all preferred their own.
So, Su Ze simply took out the scepter that the Mother Tree had transformed into and let him communicate with the Mother Tree himself.
After a round of communication between the Mother Tree’s master and the Mother Tree, he looked up and said in disbelief, "You’re from the Human Race on Blue Star!"
He couldn’t believe it. He had been asleep for over three hundred years, and in that time, such a figure had actually emerged from Blue Star!
Over three hundred years ago, the Mother Tree’s master had been severely injured and ended up stranded on Blue Star. He hadn’t fallen unconscious right away. He had forced himself to plant his staff in the desert, which formed the Miracle Oasis.
At that time, he had done some research on Blue Star.
He knew it was a planet with a very low level of evolution, one that had only awakened its evolutionary power a few hundred years prior.
Back then, the strongest being on Blue Star was merely a Legend-rank who had evolved six times. In his mind, Blue Star had no contact with the outside world. For it to produce even a single Star God after three hundred years would have been outrageous.
But he never expected it to produce someone like Su Ze—a Moon God!
And this was without him even witnessing Su Ze’s combat prowess. If he were to see Su Ze slaughtering others of the same rank as if they were dogs, who knows what he would think.
In that short time, the Mother Tree’s master hadn’t had the chance to exchange much information with the Mother Tree. He knew that the more he learned about Su Ze, the more shocked he would likely become.
Su Ze didn’t wait for him to slowly catch up with the Mother Tree. He interrupted him directly and asked, "Senior, how should I address you?"
"Just call me Mage. And there’s no need to call me ’Senior.’ In the universe, strength is what earns respect; age means little. You and I are both Moon Gods, so we should treat each other as equals."
Su Ze nodded slightly and got straight to the point. "Brother Mage, I wonder how much you know about my Blue Star Human Race?"
The Human Race had vanished without a trace from the universe for countless years. Ordinary people had never even heard of such a race. Only the top powerhouses holding high positions in various races, as well as those of illustrious birth, had any knowledge of them.
However, Mage was said to be a brilliant botanist from the Tree Spirit Race, incredibly knowledgeable. He might have heard of them.
As expected, Mage pondered for a moment before nodding.
"I’ve always enjoyed studying strange and unusual things. Regarding your Human Race, I have read descriptions in some ancient texts."
"To be honest, when I first arrived on Blue Star and discovered that the race there was so similar to the Human Race I had read about, I couldn’t believe it myself. It was only after confirming it again and again that I was certain I had truly found the Human Race!"
Su Ze was quite satisfied with Mage’s candor and felt more interested in continuing the conversation.
The Human Race’s situation was unique. Mage could have easily pretended not to know about them, which might have been more advantageous for him.
After all, from Mage’s perspective, Su Ze had a motive to kill him to silence him for the sake of protecting his race.
"In that case, I’m sure you can imagine the predicament my Human Race is in, Brother Mage."
Mage didn’t hide anything and admitted freely, "The Human Race’s situation is likely even more difficult than that of weaker races like my Tree Spirit Race. We may be weak, but at least we aren’t constantly targeted by the major races. If my Tree Spirit Race were in the humans’ position, I fear we would be wiped out within days."
Su Ze then said directly, "So, I must ask you, Brother Mage, to help my Human Race by keeping this a secret. Please do not leak any information about us."
’Having said that, there wasn’t actually much for Mage to leak. He doesn’t know Zexing’s location; the only thing he knows is the location of Blue Star. But leaking Blue Star’s location wouldn’t bring him any benefit, nor would it necessarily worsen Blue Star’s situation.’
"You can rest assured on that point. You saved my life. I’m more grateful than I can say, and I would never betray my savior," Mage said solemnly. "If you’re still not at ease, you can erase the relevant memories. I will not resist."
"The Mother Tree also helped me a great deal when I was weak. Saving you is my way of repaying that kindness. I trust you, Brother Mage. Erasing memories and all that... it’s really not necessary," Su Ze said with a friendly smile.
’If I really determined he was a threat, there’d be no need for something as troublesome as erasing memories. I could just kill him, or use the Blood and Flesh Parasite to control him directly.’
But for now, Su Ze was quite satisfied with Mage’s response.
"I wonder, what are your plans now, Brother Mage?" Su Ze asked.
Mage gave a bitter smile. "I’ve been in a coma for over three hundred years, and it was a long time before that since I’d returned to my clan. They probably all think I’m dead. Right now, I just want to go back and see them. After that, I’ll go back to wandering the universe and tending to my plants."
