I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate

Chapter 716 - 389: Filthy Rich (2)

Wave after wave of clones shot into the sky, launching suicidal interceptions.

Balrog could obliterate such a small cluster of clones with a single punch. Each time a group was destroyed, it was equivalent to Su Ze sustaining another injury.

But Su Ze had no choice. This was the only way he could stall for time.

Balrog was seething with rage. He wouldn’t have been in such a humiliating situation if he hadn’t just used both of his rank-nine Divine Artifacts. He had also expended a great deal of his own energy and been injured at the hands of Mr. Ao, making it impossible for him to use the artifacts’ powerful attacks again anytime soon.

He spat a mouthful of blood into his palm and smeared it onto his belt. Using the bond of their bloodline, he forcibly activated the belt’s power. His body once again took on a metallic sheen. Ignoring the encirclement and attacks of Su Ze’s innumerable clones, he steeled himself and flew toward space.

But just as he broke through Zexing’s atmosphere, a spaceship came barreling straight for him.

The Magic Cube had returned. It accelerated and slammed into Balrog, knocking him back down to the surface of Zexing.

And it had brought Mr. Ao’s physical body back with it!

With its energy supply restored, Mr. Ao’s body fell back under Su Ze’s control. It plummeted straight toward Balrog like a falling meteor.

Despair filled Balrog’s eyes. Here, within the Forbidden Demon Domain, he couldn’t use many of his life-saving escape techniques.

His two rank-nine Divine Artifacts had been able to breach the rank-eight Forbidden Demon Domain because they contained a drop of his father’s, the Ancestral God’s, blood. When fully activated, the blood temporarily elevated the artifacts’ standing to the Ancestral God level, allowing them to ignore the domain’s restrictive rules.

His own attacks and abilities, however, were still limited to the Sun God level and could not break the rules.

The Power of Rules, by its very nature, could transcend levels. Mr. Ya’s "Invincibility" skill, for example, had no problem blocking an attack from an enemy one life-level higher than himself.

A rank-eight Forbidden Demon Domain was more than enough to restrict a Sun God.

Die mobilized all her power to reinforce the ground beneath Balrog, but when Mr. Ao crashed down from the sky, the impact still tore a massive rift valley into the plain.

Mr. Ao and Balrog continued their primitive battle of flesh and blood, a clash of fists and feet, but Balrog was already in his death throes.

Resentment and regret flashed through his eyes. ’I am a mighty Sun God with a boundless future! I hold a high-ranking, powerful position within my race, yet this is how I die.’

He regretted helping his troublemaker of a younger brother, regretted pursuing his target all the way to Zexing...

But it was too late. After a few more exchanges, Balrog, who was already a spent force, collapsed completely.

Su Ze immediately rushed over, plundering his Origin Gene and devouring his flesh-and-blood energy!

The flesh-and-blood energy rapidly healed all of Su Ze’s wounds, restoring him to his peak condition in an instant.

There was a large amount of flesh-and-blood energy left over, which Su Ze fed directly to the artifact seed.

The rank-seven artifact seed upgraded directly into a rank-eight Divine Artifact!

It also took a huge step toward becoming a rank-nine Divine Artifact.

Previously, on the Dou Race Planet, Su Ze had killed several Moon Gods and Star Gods. The flesh-and-blood energy he’d devoured then had already brought the artifact seed to the brink of upgrading to rank eight. Now, he had completely devoured a Sun God.

Su Ze estimated that if he devoured another three to five Sun Gods, he could upgrade the artifact seed into a rank-nine Divine Artifact.

However, the greatest prize was the massive amount of Origin Gene plundered from Balrog.

His Dou Race Origin Gene completion shot straight up to 56%. Beyond that, he also acquired large amounts of Origin Genes from other races.

As a Sun God, Balrog had plundered his fair share of other races in his lifetime. Now, Su Ze was the one to reap the rewards.

Su Ze also claimed the two rank-nine Divine Artifacts. Balrog had left behind a great many other treasures as well; a Sun God who was also the son of the Ancestral God was, naturally, filthy rich.

This included the Sun God-level Spaceship. The value of that ship alone surpassed that of a rank-nine Divine Artifact!

Unfortunately, the spaceship was heavily damaged, and repairs would likely cost a fortune.

With the great battle over and the crisis averted, the taut string in Su Ze’s mind finally snapped. He collapsed onto the ground, sprawled out with no regard for his image, and closed his eyes to rest.

Looking back on it now, the battle had been incredibly perilous, with countless unexpected turns.

Balrog’s arrival had sent things spiraling out of control. Su Ze had been forced to risk luring him to Zexing, where he narrowly managed to kill him.

If Balrog had escaped today, Su Ze would have had no choice but to take the thirty thousand people on Zexing and migrate again—an undoubtedly unbearable loss.

Finding other habitable planets in the universe wasn’t difficult, but finding one like Zexing—a planet whose evolutionary power had yet to awaken and was teeming with low-level evolutionary resources—was another matter entirely.

Moreover, the underground base couldn’t be moved. Without the base, Mr. Ao’s body couldn’t be powered, which was equivalent to losing the protection of a Sun God-level expert.

Fortunately, that scenario hadn’t come to pass. The process had been fraught with danger, but he had managed to kill Balrog in the end.

High risk meant high reward. If Balrog hadn’t jumped in, the spoils Su Ze and the others reaped from conquering the Dou Race Planet wouldn’t have been nearly as bountiful.

Mr. Ya, Lin Hua, and the others came over. Seeing Su Ze lying on the ground resting with his eyes closed, they exchanged a glance and decided not to disturb him.

Su Ze was exhausted.

They had witnessed everything that day. Their own strength was meager, their contributions limited. One could say that Su Ze had won this victory almost single-handedly... provided one didn’t count Mr. Ao’s body.

The MVP of today’s battle was undoubtedly Mr. Ao.

Without the body he’d left behind, Su Ze would never have been able to turn the tables today.

Mr. Ya and the others didn’t disturb Su Ze, but he stood up of his own accord and walked toward them.
