I am the Clone of a Death Row Inmate

Chapter 598 - 350: Accepting the Inheritance

He planned to face the assessment at his absolute strongest.

He had reaped a bountiful harvest from the great war, having looted the entire treasury of Lin Hua Country and seized treasures from several legendary powerhouses.

The most precious items were three divine-grade artifacts and the extract of a Tier-7 Beast King Sponge.

The other high-tier materials, Tier-6 artifacts, and high-tier extracts weren’t even worth mentioning.

Of the three divine-grade artifacts, the Soul-Piercing Blowgun was a suitable upgrade material for him.

Su Ze didn’t hesitate and began trying to absorb the divine-grade artifact.

After a few attempts, he successfully found a way to absorb the Soul-Piercing Blowgun. Thankfully, the method wasn’t too difficult. He just had to pierce his own Spiritual Power with the blowgun without first infusing the artifact with any of his Spiritual Power to activate it.

An intangible energy from the Soul-Piercing Blowgun surged into Su Ze’s body, giving him a strange sensation. It was as if his mind and body had become drunk, leaving him dizzy and light-headed.

Once he had completely absorbed the energy, the Soul-Piercing Blowgun lost its mystical properties and became an ordinary weapon.

A glint flashed in Su Ze’s eyes. He finally knew which skill had been upgraded.

He was somewhat surprised.

’It’s the "Pinpoint Strike" skill...’

He had already upgraded "Pinpoint Strike" to a Tier-6 S-rank skill. After absorbing a divine-grade artifact this time, it should have logically gone straight to Tier-7.

However, the leap from Tier-6 to Tier-7 was a major threshold. Plus, Su Ze’s own life essence had not yet reached the divine level. So in the end, "Pinpoint Strike" was upgraded to a Quasi-Divine Skill, the same level as "Weak Point Attack."

A Quasi-Divine Skill already possessed the characteristics of a true divine skill. When Su Ze ascended to godhood in the future, it would be a natural progression for his Quasi-Divine Skills to become divine skills.

The direction this "Pinpoint Strike" upgrade took, however, was also somewhat unexpected.

Pinpoint Strike (Quasi-Divine Skill): Concentrate all physical strength and Spiritual Power into a single point, unleashing a dual piercing attack that targets both the enemy’s body and soul. Upon impact, it triggers an internal explosion and infects the target with Sleep Poison. (This poison affects both body and soul, causing the target to rapidly fall into a deep slumber, eventually leading to death in a state of eternal sleep).

The upgraded "Pinpoint Strike" was more powerful, but the biggest change was its transformation into a dual-layered attack skill, affecting both the physical and spiritual planes.

Su Ze’s Spiritual Power had always been formidable, but he lacked any active spiritual attack skills.

Now, "Pinpoint Strike" was something of a spiritual attack skill.

Su Ze frowned slightly. He had no intention of developing his abilities toward spiritual attacks, but the upgrade path for "Pinpoint Strike" wasn’t entirely unexpected.

The signs had been there since the skill gained "Sleep Poison," as the toxin worked on both the physical body and the spirit.

’Both "Spiritual Piercing" and "Sleep Poison" don’t really mesh with "Strongest Fist." "Strongest Fist" is a purely violent trump card, meant to kill the enemy in a single blow.’

’If the enemy is already obliterated by one punch, a spiritual attack and a poison attack are just redundant.’

However, the upgrade paths of his skills were not something Su Ze could currently control.

’If it really doesn’t work out, I can just replace "Pinpoint Strike" with another skill in my "Strongest Fist" combo. I could also consider upgrading "Pinpoint Strike" into a purely spiritual attack skill. That might be a good option...’

After a moment of thought, Su Ze set the matter aside and took out the Tier-7 Beast King Sponge extract.

That’s right. He wanted to absorb this vial of Tier-7 extract.

He could create a divine skill on his own to use as a "ladder" to ascend to the divine level, but why not take the easier path if it was available?

But after a moment’s hesitation, he put the Tier-7 extract away.

It wasn’t that he had given up on absorbing the extract; he was just worried there might be better options within the inner inheritance.

’What if I get a ton of Tier-7 extracts from the inner inheritance?’

’I’ll decide whether to absorb this vial of extract after I’ve completed the inheritance ritual.’

Su Ze stood up and took out his phone. He first called for Mr. Ya to join him, then sent a message to Chen Suifeng and the others, instructing them to be sure to guard the three Divine Dice while he was undergoing the inheritance ritual.

With that done, Su Ze met up with Mr. Ya, boarded the Magic Cube, and flew toward the nearest inheritance point in the Myriad Beast Mountain Range.

...

「Myriad Beast Mountain Range, inside the Inheritance Space.」

Mr. Ya waited at the outer inheritance point while Su Ze entered the inner Inheritance Space, holding four puzzle pieces.

Su Ze, now familiar with the process, placed the four puzzle pieces into the slots on the inheritance portal.

A brilliant light erupted from the portal as its two large doors slowly swung open.

A dazzling light poured out from the doorway, instantly engulfing Su Ze.

Before Su Ze could see anything clearly, he found himself in a completely different place; the surrounding scenery had changed drastically.

He appeared in a vast, white chaos. A large screen floated before him, and a beam of light from an unknown source shone down on him.

On the large screen, familiar text began to appear.

"Scanning..."

"Target has passed the outer inheritance trial..."

"Scanning soul..."

"Human Race Transmigrator. Soul scan: Passed."

"Scanning bloodline..."

"Human Race bloodline. Scan: Passed."

"WARNING!"

"Race Traitor bloodline detected!"

Su Ze’s heart tightened at the sight.

In the wider universe, the "Defiled" were also known as "Race Traitors." This meant the system had detected the foul stench within his body.

’Will this affect my ability to receive the inheritance?’

Feeling uneasy, Su Ze kept his eyes glued to the large screen.

The text on the large screen scrolled:

"Race Traitor bloodline composition: less than 0.1%. Verdict: Not a Race Traitor!"

"Purging Race Traitor bloodline!"

Su Ze had just breathed a sigh of relief when the light shining on him suddenly became scorching hot.

The light pierced his skin and bored into his flesh and blood, illuminating every part of him, leaving no place to hide.

The searing pain spread throughout his body, all-pervasive.

It felt as if he were being sliced into thin strips and slow-roasted over a fire.

After a moment, a foul stench emanated from him as a black substance was secreted from his pores. The moment this substance touched the light, it dissolved like snow in the sun.

The screen immediately displayed: "Race Traitor bloodline purge complete!"

’I never thought the inheritance ritual would have this kind of benefit...’ Su Ze was overjoyed. The foul stench of the Defiled that had plagued him for so long had been completely purged, just like that.

’I wonder what the trial will be...’

Su Ze calmed himself and prepared for a major battle. At the very least, he was sure there would be a test of strength.

But just then, another line of text appeared on the screen: "Trial complete. Status: Passed!"

’What the hell? It’s over already?’

Su Ze was dumbfounded. It was one thing for the outer trial to be a cakewalk, but the inner trial was one too?

While avoiding more trials was a good thing, Su Ze couldn’t help but feel a little let down. This whole inheritance process felt somewhat informal and not very serious.

Just then, myriad strands of light flickered before him. The light was of a color he could not name. It gradually converged, forming a butterfly the size of a man!

This was the very same giant butterfly Su Ze had seen when he absorbed the Divine Blood Crystal, only this version was scaled down.

The butterfly’s entire body was that same unnamable color. It looked elegant, regal, and extraordinarily beautiful. The mere sight of it felt dreamlike, as if such a creature couldn’t possibly exist in the real world.

’Is that butterfly actually alive?’

Though he wasn’t certain, Su Ze’s reaction was swift. He immediately bowed. "Mrs. Die!"

The butterfly flapped its wings, circled Su Ze once, and spoke. "Are you wondering why I didn’t throw a bunch of trials at you? Why I didn’t make you fight a few monsters to test your strength?

"It’s not necessary. I don’t care about your strength. As long as you accept this inheritance, you could be a complete waste of space and still become one of the top geniuses in the universe!"

Its voice sounded somewhat childlike and tender, but its tone was one of supreme confidence—it could even be called arrogant!
