I Am Not A Goblin Slayer
Chapter 1029 - 494: All-Devouring Heavenly Lightning
The breakthrough triggered by hitting a hundred thousand kills accelerated the tipping of the scales. It didn’t take long for the Goblin Lord, Snaz, to feel the tangible, crushing pressure of this shift.
BOOM!
The weight was overwhelming. The black shield extending from its arm bore an immense pressure, causing its ordinarily sturdy surface to cave in and deform slightly. The sheer power of Gauss’s various Spells had grown remarkably.
BOOM!
It seemed Gauss had no intention of giving Snaz a single moment to think or catch its breath. Volley after volley of Dragon Roar Missiles shot out from the tip of the White Magic Wand gripped tightly in his hand. Guided by the laws of Precision, they crossed the vast distance to strike at Snaz from every direction. This forced the defensive creature to stretch and contort its black shield, covering even more angles to fend off the barrage.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Gauss’s Spells rained down in a relentless bombardment, as if casting them consumed no energy at all. He capitalized on Snaz being pinned down in a defensive stance, unable to reposition, and maintained a continuous, suffocating suppression of firepower.
In the distance, a Commander Level goblin currently engaged in combat with a powerful human Master caught a glimpse of its leader out of the corner of its eye. Across the open battlefield—a stretch of land that looked as though it had been trampled by a behemoth—its supposedly invincible leader had deployed a turtle-shell-like defense just to weather the frenzied bombardment raining from the sky.
The sheer shock of the sight was so overwhelming that the Commander Level goblin subconsciously froze mid-battle, as if its entire worldview had just collapsed. Earlier, it had seen that its leader was dominating the battle, so it had focused entirely on its own opponent. Little did it expect that while its own fight was going smoothly—having firmly suppressed the human Ranger—the situation on its boss’s battlefield would take such a disastrous turn.
It wondered wildly, "What exactly happened? Is Boss Snaz actually getting suppressed?"
SWISH!
In its momentary daze, the opposing Ranger seized the opportunity to draw his bowstring to the limit. After a brief charge, a lightning arrow—thrumming with power and crackling with electricity—shot forward with a resounding boom.
Although the Goblin Commander snapped back to reality at the last second and spotted the incoming projectile, its subconscious bodily reaction was just a beat too slow. The arrow, originally aimed straight for its heart, instead pierced through its arm, leaving a charred, sparking hole in its bicep. The creature threw itself to the side just as three more crackling arrows struck the ground exactly where it had just been.
The Goblin Commander gasped, its face twisting in agony. The damage from that fully charged shot would not heal anytime soon. Moreover, since it had struck its dominant, weapon-bearing hand, its combat prowess would severely decline in the ensuing clash. It might even turn its previously guaranteed victory into a crushing defeat.
It complained bitterly in its heart. A perfectly good situation had gone horribly wrong in the blink of an eye.
Gauss was completely unaware of the chain reaction he had inadvertently caused. He had transformed into a cold, calculating machine, silently dialing up the pressure on the Goblin Lord, Snaz. He fully intended to capitalize on the enemy’s vulnerability to land a killing blow.
On the ground, a streak of black light darted left and right, evading desperately as a streak of white light pursued it relentlessly. Every so often, several arcing beams of light would shoot out from the white streak, cutting off the black light’s escape routes from multiple angles.
Gauss kept his eyes locked on the Goblin Lord’s trajectory. In the distance, several kilometers outside the city walls, another Extraordinary Goblin was locked in a fierce battle with an Extraordinary human general leading a cavalry charge. Was Snaz trying to redirect the threat? Or, realizing the dire situation, did it want to team up with the other Extraordinary Goblin to fight him? Or perhaps it intended to drag the battlefield closer to the city walls, using bystanders as collateral to force him to hold back?
Gauss silently increased his flight speed, overtaking the Goblin Lord to cut off its path. No matter what, he wouldn’t let the creature get its way. Snaz was no longer the one dictating the flow of this battle.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Several winged Dragon Roar Missiles circling the sky accelerated into a dive, syncing with his movements. The resulting bombardment forced the Goblin Lord to slash its running speed to less than a third of what it had been.
Seizing this brief window, Gauss activated Future Sight.
Instantly, his mind achieved absolute clarity, entering a state of hyper-accelerated cognition. Within this slowed stream of time, he began to meditate. Deep within his sea of consciousness, the 6th-circle Spell model representing the Splendid Light Ball slowly whirred into motion.
An unprecedented surge of Magic Power roiled within Gauss’s body, roaring like a crumbling mountain, crashing like a tsunami. It was an incredibly dense and solid wave of Magic Power.
The moment it condensed, the air around Gauss was physically affected, becoming exceptionally heavy and stagnant. Sensing the call, the Natural Magic within a radius of several hundred meters instantly surged with activity. For a fleeting second, it felt as though the colors of the entire world had shifted.
Boosted by the experience from his Racial Talent, Demonic Hour, his proficiency level in this Spell had already broken past Lv. 3. Combined with the accelerated cognition provided by Future Sight, Gauss’s casting process was exceptionally smooth—even though this was his first time using the 6th-circle Spell, Splendid Light Ball, in actual combat, having learned it less than a day ago.
The mighty Magic Power circulated through his body before being channeled out through his Magic Wand, blossoming into a Magic Effect around him. Six invisible, abyssal cores materialized in a ring around his body. Then, the Magic Power began to rapidly compress—compressing, and compressing again!
The ultra-concentrated Magic Power generated a gravitational pull so intense that the surrounding air literally began to collapse. Swept up by his own internal Magic Power, the surrounding Natural Magic rushed in wildly, like a torrential backflow of seawater.
