I Am Not A Goblin Slayer
Chapter 1017 - 489: [Heartstrings]
Gauss was not entirely ignorant of this.
He turned to look at the Green Dragon Army General relatively close to his current position.
"So it’s you."
What he saw was a familiar yet strange figure. Its forest-green skin exuded an aura of pure evil under the pale moonlight.
The Extraordinary Goblin Lord.
Upon realizing that his opponent this time was a goblin rather than one of the other three monster generals, Gauss breathed a sigh of relief. It wasn’t that he underestimated the enemy’s strength or possessed special intelligence—like knowing the Goblin General was the weakest among the four generals of the Green Dragon Army. His subconscious burst of optimism merely stemmed from his longstanding psychological advantage over goblins and his powerful suppressive effect on them.
All his abilities were specialized against monsters, but if there was one species he suppressed the most, it was undoubtedly goblins. No other monster species could challenge the goblin’s status in that regard.
In the direction of the Green Dragon Army, the Goblin Lord Snaz gazed at Gauss in the distant sky. It licked its lips, a flash of greedy desire gleaming in its eyes.
For some unknown reason, it sensed a fatal allure radiating from him. While he brought a sense of danger, he also made its heart race uncontrollably. It felt as if devouring him would grant it tremendous benefits. Though Snaz didn’t know where this inexplicable thought came from, it instinctively chose to believe it.
"He must be incredibly delicious!" it thought. Eerie green light emanated from its murky eyes.
Beside it, several of its deputies couldn’t help but quietly retreat a few steps. Their boss’s current state was simply too terrifying. They feared that this undisguised, ravenous primal desire would compel it to slaughter them all.
After all, during food shortages, low-level goblins frequently resorted to cannibalism. This habit was retained by many high-level goblins, who used such inhumane practices as a deterrent to maintain dominance over their tribes. Goblins, much like other monsters, were creatures that only respected power and cruelty, entirely lacking in gratitude. They would never betray a brutal lord, but they were highly likely to turn on one who was weak and insufficiently powerful.
Just as the monsters beside the Goblin Lord trembled in fear, its figure suddenly vanished from the spot. A streak of black light dashed across the ground at terrifying speed! With every blink of an eye, it covered hundreds of meters.
"So fast!" Gauss raised an eyebrow. He was somewhat surprised by the Goblin Lord’s impatience.
"Perhaps I possess some special attraction to the goblin race?" he wondered.
As he pondered this, Gauss, floating in midair, did not retreat. Instead, he surged forward, his body transforming into a Platinum beam of light, leading the black streak toward a specific direction. Although his current location wasn’t too close to the city walls, he still hoped to draw the battlefield a bit further away.
"BOOM!"
As Gauss kept his peripheral vision fixed on the black light relentlessly tailing him, he mused, "As expected, a level-15 Demon—or rather, a Green Dragon Army General—is entirely on a different tier of strength compared to a regular Extraordinary Demon."
He was currently somewhat stronger than when he had fought the Extraordinary Centaur, yet the oppressive presence emanating from the Goblin Lord was completely incomparable to that of a mere Extraordinary Centaur.
Suddenly, his body felt incredibly heavy. A massive, crushing weight pressed down on him, causing his originally straight flight trajectory to plummet sharply.
"Gauss, you must be extremely careful. High-level goblins are very dangerous," the King of Slime, Eden, warned within Gauss’s mind.
