I Am Already A Queen
Chapter 169: Talking About Qiao Meixia
Chapter 169: Chapter 169: Talking About Qiao Meixia
Stepping out of the lift compartment, Qiao Meixia drew the immediate attention of the administrative staff and department assistants stationed across the open-plan floor.
Dozens of heads snapped upward in unison, their eyes locking onto the teenage girl with unabashed curiosity. They could not help wondering who this unexpected visitor was and what business she had on the heavily restricted executive level, as unauthorised guests were strictly barred from wandering this high-level corridor.
However, the moment they caught a clear glimpse of her distinct facial features, a collective wave of realisation rippled through the room. Several senior employees instantly connected the dots, especially after spotting Jiang Suhan’s personal secretary acting as her private escort toward the director’s inner sanctum.
Subtle, knowing glances were exchanged across neighbouring desks, silently validating their soaring suspicions.
Could this quiet, composed girl possibly be the long-lost daughter of the Jiang family everyone had been whispering about?
The second Qiao Meixia followed the secretary through the heavy oak doors of Jiang Suhan’s private office, the suppressed murmurs finally erupted into a flurry of animated whispers across the floor. The staff could no longer contain their burning curiosity, leaning across their partitions to dissect her sudden arrival.
"I’d bet anything that’s her, the long-lost Jiang family’s another daughter everyone’s been gossiping about for weeks."
"You know, now that you mention it, her bone structure and eyes look strikingly similar to Director Jiang’s."
"Spot on! I recognised the family resemblance the second she stepped off the elevator. It is almost uncanny."
"And her aura is remarkably imposing, too. When she walked past my workspace just now, I honestly felt a chilling flash of the exact same quiet authority Director Jiang radiates."
"Now that you bring it up... doesn’t she give off a completely different vibe compared to the other young miss the family brought around previously?"
"Well, obviously... They are night and day."
"Right? I ran into the other sister once in the lobby. She is relentlessly bubbly and sweet, flashing a practised smile at every single employee she crosses paths with."
"True. But this girl? She did not even grant us a passing glance. She walked right past everyone like we were invisible glass."
"Yeah... I saw it too."
"Perhaps she is simply overwhelmed by the high-pressure corporate environment and is not used to a massive office setting."
"Maybe. Still, you cannot deny the genetic blueprint. If someone told me they were carbon copies, I’d believe it instantly."
The staff continued buzzing like a kicked hive, feeding off one another’s speculation as they traded theories regarding Qiao Meixia’s background. Some had caught wind of the high-society rumours months ago, while others were only just piecing the dramatic family saga together. Having finally witnessed the legendary heiress in the flesh, their insatiable appetite for office gossip spiked to an all-time high.
However, their spirited chatter was abruptly cut short.
Jiang Suhan’s executive secretary had just stepped back out of the private office to retrieve a stack of corporate files. The second he crossed the threshold into the open-plan area, he caught the distinct hum of unauthorised gossip echoing across the desks concerning his boss and the newly arrived sister.
His professional expression instantly hardened into a mask of severe disapproval.
"Ahem!" He cleared his throat sharply, a dry, commanding sound designed to slice through the noise.
The employees who had been leaning over their partitions instantly snapped straight in their ergonomic chairs. Several frantically pivoted their eyes back to their glowing computer monitors, while others grabbed random sheets of paper, pretending to be deeply engrossed in reviewing financial spreadsheets.
The secretary swept a cold, authoritative gaze across the bullpen before delivering a crisp, uncompromising warning.
"I suggest everyone channel this impressive energy into your designated corporate duties rather than speculating on Director Jiang’s personal family affairs." The secretary stated firmly, his voice carrying clearly across the quiet floor. "Kindly remember that you are all high-level professionals representing this corporation. You should have a clear understanding of appropriate workplace boundaries and what topics strictly remain off-limits."
Chastised by the sharp reprimand, the surrounding staff members immediately swallowed their remaining words, flushing with mild embarrassment.
"We understood." Several voices murmured in unison, sounding thoroughly chastened, nodding their heads.
They scrambled back to their respective software programs and keyboards, pretending with exaggerated focus that nothing out of the ordinary had transpired. Within seconds, total silence reclaimed the executive floor, with every employee desperately trying to look like the model of corporate productivity.
Even so, a few daring souls could not resist casting furtive, sideways glances toward Jiang Suhan’s closed office door every now and then.
After all, the unexpected appearance of another Jiang family heiress had given them far too juicy a topic to let fade away anytime soon.
As Qiao Meixia stepped into Jiang Suhan’s private sanctuary, she paused to survey the interior, silently nodding to herself in quiet approval. The executive suite possessed an even more refined, upscale presence in reality than it had conveyed through the photographs he transmitted earlier. The high-end furnishings, the tasteful architectural accents, and the rich, balanced ambience aligned remarkably well with her personal aesthetic.
After pacing around to inspect the spatial flow, she drifted over to the sleek leather sofa, settled comfortably into the cushions, and extracted her personal sketchbook from her bag. She had already mapped out the conceptual framework for the custom painting she intended to craft specifically for her brother.
Flipping the heavy paper open to a pristine page, she gripped her pencil and began mapping out her initial structural lines. As she sketched, she intermittently tilted her chin upward, scanning the various design features and decorative fixtures distributed around the room.
