Husband you’ve abandoned me. Fine, I’ll focus on raising my son

Chapter 278: How did I notice her before?

Chapter 278: How did I notice her before?

“How’s the investigation going?” He asked.

“We’re still looking for Anthony however, we have uncovered most of the money he took from the company,” I told him. I was going to send my father an updated file that contained all the documents concerning Edward.

“And where’s the money now?” He asked.

“He used some of it, but he has the other money hidden somewhere; we’re currently trying to locate it,” I explained.

“Keith, remember what I told you. You’ve already found the culprit, so don’t make any hasty decisions. The Acland HQ is already in shambles due to this whole situation,” he told me. All he cared about was the business.

“I’ll do what I have to do and find my son, father,” I said to him.

Edward said not to try to trick him or try to send fake documents. He said he would know. But would he really? I asked myself.

I set the and made the schedule for the HQ for the week. I wanted to finish of with Anthony before the HQ could go back to normal.

After finishing at the office, I returned home. I found Jasmine in the gardens. I went towards her and found her sitting with her journal in her hands.

As I approached her, she looked up at me. She smiled as I approached and pointed for me to sit beside her.

“You alright? Still working?” I asked her.

“How did it go?” She asked me.

“Edward still won’t budge,” I told her. I felt awful for having no substantial updates yet again.

“I also made a call to one of the Kensington people the neighbour to Diana when she lived there,” she explained.

“Yes, my men and the police went there again to ask investigate the place and questioned her.”

A moment of silence passed between us. Studying Jasmine’s face a look of concern appeared on her face. Her hand was on the table and I reached out and touched her.

“I know you’re worried,” I started. “I pro—” I was about to say I promise I’ll find him but managed to stop myself.

I told her too many times now that I was going to find Tony and still nothing had come out of it.

“Where do we go from here?” She then asked.

“For this next week the only priority will be finding Anthony preferably before the deadline,” I told her. “I’ve handled the HQ’s backlog for the next week so we can resolve this by the end of this week. I’ll be focused on checking all of the documents.”

“Can I come with you?” She asked me. “Maybe I can help find more clues.”

“I think its best if you stay here with the deadline approaching,” I told her feeling worried. “I don’t think its safe. At the very least it’s probably Diana and Edward’s girlfriend who are probably running the ransom right now and expecting to receive. They attacked you once once and perhaps they might try something again.” I tried to explain my reasoning.

She looked at me with a surprised expression.

“I know you hate staying home, but it’s only a week remaining,” I assured her. “I know I’ve said this again and again but I promise, I’ll find him, okay?”

I then stood up from my chair and looked down at her as I closed the distance between us.

“Okay,” she replied.

“If we don’t, I’m coming up with an alternative plan to get us out of the situation,” I assured her. I had been thinking about an alternative plane since last week.

Edward said I couldn’t trick him, but was that really the case? Maybe with the right people, I could pull it off.

With my eyes back on Jasmine, I saw her slowly nod in acceptance.

She looked up at me with big green doe eyes, and immediately I felt disarmed. My hands slowly went up her face and cupped her cheeks. All the rage I felt due to my encounter with Edward slowly leaves my body. With my hands cupping her face, it was difficult not to want to take things further.

The kind, gentle woman who stood by my side for so many years was returning to me. I can’t believe that for 9 years I never noticed her. I didn’t know what I had then, but now.

Seeing her wake in my bed today brought hope of a future I wanted. That it was something I’ll look forward to every day. If I could find Anthony, it would be perfect… Everything would be in order.

My determination to keep my promise to Jasmine felt even stronger.

“Keith,” Jasmine then said, bringing me out of my thoughts. I realised I was tracing her lips with my finger unconsciously. What was I doing?

JASMINE’S POV

“Keith,” I gently said his name.

For a moment, I was worried as Keith held onto me, his finger tracing my lips. His desire was clear in his eyes. He’d slowly been getting more and more comfortable with me.

Playing into Keith’s fantasies was becoming easier for me in that I finally understood exactly what he wanted and how he wanted me to act. However, dealing with his growing closeness was an unfortunate consequence. And it wasn’t easy. That being said, I couldn’t pull back on it, unfortunately.

As if coming to his senses, his eyes focused on me properly. Then, as if he had just realised what he was doing, he let me go. “I’ll see you later then,” he told me and began to walk away. I watched him leave and sat down once more, looking at my journal. I had been brainstorming.

I was a little disappointed that Keith wasn’t going to allow me to go with him. Not

However, staying at the estate wasn’t too bad either. Now that my communication with Louis has stabilised.

Keith’s words to me about finding Tony seemed sincere, but I didn’t know if I could trust him. After overhearing that conversation with his father, I didn’t quite trust him. I had to get out of here before things.

With Louis’ help, I was sure I could find Tony myself.
