Humanity Is Gone, but I Have Billions of Clones
Chapter 317: I'm Going to Kill You
Li Qingsong tested laser guns of various intensities and energy levels, even bringing out a small laser cannon. As expected, the stronger the laser, the more intense the electromagnetic wave response.
After a while, the green-lit area even began to move, seemingly demonstrating some kind of autonomous reaction. At the same time, the area it covered would occasionally expand or contract.
‘It can move? And its range can expand and shrink? What’s the connection between this and the laser?’
Li Qingsong was completely baffled.
He also discovered something else.
Using high-precision measurement equipment, he observed that the trajectory of the laser would deviate ever so slightly as it passed through the green-lit area.
And this didn’t seem to be caused by something like refraction or reflection.
So, what could alter the path of light…?
A rather startling hypothesis formed in Li Qingsong’s mind.
‘Perhaps… gravitational lensing?’
When light passes by massive celestial bodies, such as a Black Hole, its propagation path is deflected.
Humanity had discovered this phenomenon back in the age of Earth. For instance, astronomers once observed two identical, distant galaxies. Their elemental composition, size, mass, shape—everything was exactly the same, as if they were twins.
But could two identical galaxies really exist in the Cosmos? That seemed highly improbable.
Initially, people were mystified. But after further research, they finally figured it out.
They were, in fact, two virtual images of a single Galaxy.
The light from that Galaxy, on its way to the Milky Way Galaxy, had passed by another, extremely massive Galaxy. This Galaxy’s Gravity caused the light to bend, allowing light that would have otherwise never reached the Milky Way Galaxy to be transmitted to it.
From the perspective of the Milky Way Galaxy, it looked as if two identical galaxies had appeared.
This is the gravitational lensing effect.
Low-mass celestial bodies can also deflect the path of light, of course, but the effect is minuscule compared to massive ones. This is known as “microlensing.”
And now, Li Qingsong seemed to be observing the microlensing effect in the laser beam passing through this green region.
But this mass of green light clearly had no mass, or at least a negligible amount.
Combined with the anti-gravity phenomena—related to Gravity—that seemed to appear within the area enveloped by the green light, then…
A conjecture surfaced in Li Qingsong’s mind.
‘This unknown phenomenon, or unknown creature… involves a gravitational reaction?’
‘My current technological level is already approaching the Peak of Strong Core. The next step is to find a way to unify Gravity, which is the only way to become a Gravity Civilization.’
‘And this green-lit region seems to be a perfect laboratory for deeper research into Gravity, this fundamental force!’
Realizing this, Li Qingsong grew even more solemn.
He brought in more experimental equipment. Using laser guns and laser cannons, he fired more laser beams and even began trying other particle radiation devices, continuously probing the green light’s reactions.
In any case, the residential ship was already tens of millions of kilometers from the main fleet. Even if something went wrong, it was highly unlikely to affect the main fleet. Li Qingsong was determined to seize this opportunity for a thorough investigation.
He might even gain some new intelligence or technology from it.
Thus, under the continuous stimulation of Li Qingsong’s laser beams, the large mass of green light would intermittently release an electromagnetic wave, expand, contract, or move.
The robot team and the entity began a peculiar game of cat and mouse within the deserted residential ship.
Electromagnetic waves were continuously emitted during this process, so Li Qingsong fed all the signals to the Primordial AI for detailed analysis.
After several days, the Primordial AI suddenly reported something rather unexpected to Li Qingsong.
“Among these numerous electromagnetic signals, I have analyzed features that resemble a language.”
This news stunned Li Qingsong.
“Language? Those electromagnetic waves are a language? Is this seemingly massless green light actually a living creature? Are those electromagnetic waves its way of shouting at me? Have you analyzed the content of the messages?”
“I still require more samples.”
Li Qingsong gritted his teeth.
‘In that case, I’ll just have to try stimulating it some more.’
So, once again, Lasers, Particle radiation, and more were fired into the green-lit area, and more electromagnetic signals were emitted.
Finally, the Primordial AI sent a message.
“Decryption complete. The following is the specific content of the electromagnetic signals collected during this period.
Entry 01: Ah! That hurts! Why are you poking me?!
Entry 02: Ouch!
Please stop poking me, okay? I just want to stay here for a little while. Please don’t chase me away, okay?
I’m not leaving! I want to stay here!
Stop poking me!
If you poke me again, I’m going to get mad! I’m really scary when I’m mad! I’ll destroy this whole ship!
ARGHHH! I’m so mad! This is a serious warning, stop poking me! I’ll kill every last one of you!
I’m going to kill you!
Waaaah, I’m begging you, please stop poking me, okay? I just want to stay here, I promise I won’t cause any trouble. I’ll be good, I promise. Please.
Waaaah, why are you still poking me…
Don’t chase me! Go away! GO AWAY!
…”
Hm?
A strange feeling washed over Li Qingsong as he read the language content that the Primordial AI had deciphered from the vast number of samples.
‘So this thing really is some kind of creature,’ he thought. ‘And it seems a bit… naive?’
‘So all my research and experiments, firing lasers and particle radiation… to this strange creature, it was the same as me poking it with a needle?’
Recalling his previous actions, Li Qingsong felt a little embarrassed.
From that perspective, its temper was actually quite good. It repeatedly threatened to kill everyone and destroy the ship, but looking back, it had never attacked his robots or caused any real damage. At most, it had only playfully levitated some of the ship’s facilities.
The creations of the Cosmos were truly wondrous, to think it could even give birth to such a peculiar creature…
Of course, Li Qingsong wouldn’t trust it completely just because of this deciphered information. In fact, he remained on high alert.
Several thousand Warships still surrounded the residential ship.
However, since this mass of green light was indeed some kind of creature, possessed a certain level of intelligence, was capable of communication, and its very form of existence was likely of great significance to his own technological development… perhaps he could try to communicate with it?
If he could gain its cooperation, his research would be much easier. He might even be able to collect more significant scientific data.
