Chapter 171: Chap.168 - Calypso causing trouble

  • Next Chapter

The game continued, Harry, who had regained control of the broom, quickly chased after the Golden Snitch. Rigel didn't pay much attention to the boy, instead continuing with the game.

He focused on Marcus, the other Slytherins were dangerous, but Marcus was the one who preferred this kind of dirty trick the most. He didn't even seem to truly enjoy the game, for him, it was probably about venting his anger by trying to inflict pain rather than score points.

Rigel even stopped scoring points, instead, as soon as he got the ball, he would pass it to Angelina or Katie while standing guard near Marcus.

Marcus, of course, wasn't happy, instead, he tried to take Rigel down in every way possible. Rigel knew this guy was sinister, but he went so far as to practically try to take him down in front of Hooch!

Hooch, of course, called a foul for Gryffindor and they were awarded a free throw, which Rigel converted perfectly.

The score was already 120 to 20 when Harry finally managed to catch the Snitch, almost falling, he practically swallowed the Snitch like in the original, Rigel wondered if this was some kind of plot inertia. He already knew that the power of destiny existed in the world of Pirates of the Caribbean, combined with Trelawney's prophecy, it made even more sense.

If it weren't for his reluctance to undermine Harry's confidence, he would have helped him catch Snitch a long time ago. Doing well in the first game was very important for that.

Thankfully, this brutal game finally ended, and the Gryffindor celebration was so intense that Rigel ended up being thrown into the air again. His only regret was not knocking Marcus off his broom, but the boy was focused on him, clearly understanding Rigel's intentions, and in the end, neither managed to knock the other off.

Wood woke up in the meantime and, upon learning the result of the game, ignored his twisted ankle and limped over to them to celebrate with them.

Rigel wasn't the only one, catching the Snitch, Harry was also thrown into the air. In that game, the two were clearly the stars. To be honest, since the game requires the Seeker to end it, even though they barely participate in the direct gameplay, Seekers are the most 'adored' position in Quidditch.

In any case, both of them played extremely well. Two first-year students, who would have expected that?

A reporter from the Daily Prophet was the most excited, he had taken great photos that day. The wizarding society only had one school, and that school only held a few games a year. Keeping a reporter for events like this was quite normal, usually, only a small article mentioned the game. But this time, this reporter, who was practically a rookie sent here to languish, was completely ecstatic.

Whether it was Harry Potter as Seeker catching the Snitch or Rigel Black creating a new move, it was enough content for the front page of the sports section! Who knows, it might even make the front page of the newspaper! After all, it involved the boy who lived!

The reporter was excited, Gryffindor was too, even most of Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw were celebrating, but the atmosphere in Slytherin was incredibly heavy.

At that moment, Marcus was practically spitting fire. Snape wasn't much better, he was focused on the counterspell and couldn't dodge it. Luckily, he wasn't badly hurt, but his crumpled clothes and disheveled hair made his current mood clear.

Anger. You didn't have to be very smart to know that Snape was planning a point-deduction spree aimed at Gryffindor for the coming period.

None of this had anything to do with Rigel at the time.

The game was over, Gryffindor won, he only needed to win two more games to improve Icarus' pendant.

When he was finally put down, before he could even understand what was happening, he was embraced, if it weren't for feeling the familiar softness and the sea scent, he would have already pushed the 'attacker' away.

Calypso wasn't content with just hugging Rigel, she bent down and kissed his forehead, causing the Gryffindors to burst into shouts and laughter. Rigel felt his lips had never trembled so much before, he wanted a hole to crawl into.

Unfortunately, Calypso wouldn't let go of him at all, he couldn't see her eyes, but she was looking directly at all the 'women' who had given Rigel slightly friendlier glances. Well, the 'women' were just young girls, but to Calypso, that didn't matter in the slightest, age was just a number to her.

If she hadn't known that Rigel would get angry, she would have kissed him directly on the lips, and even gone a little further, luckily, she still had some restraint in her heart. Going that far now could be excused because he had won the game, going any further would be too much.

She just wanted to mark her territory, not to strain her relationship with Rigel.

Rigel could also see Calypso already holding back with this move, at the very least, it was useful. Look at those Prison Baits, they stared at Calypso with fire in their eyes, without any fear, clearly wanting to go to war.

That was fine, as long as they were after Calypso, not him, he didn't care in the slightest. Even so, he felt he needed to be more careful about any food he ate in the near future, he didn't doubt the craziness of those little girls.

Rigel also knew that after this, rumors about his fiancée would likely spread completely, but he didn't care.

What he didn't realize was that among the little girls staring at Calypso with warlike looks, a certain buck-toothed, disheveled-haired little girl was among them.

After the victory, of course, there was a celebration. Rigel couldn't escape this time, Fred and George seemed to know him well enough to grab him directly by the shoulders and pull him into the festivities, one on each side.

Wood first had to go to the infirmary to treat his foot injury, but he didn't mind, he was still smiling cheerfully, dragging Lee along to rehearse the parts he missed. Lee didn't mind, rehearsing enthusiastically as well. One liked to talk, the other liked to listen, the two quickly became friends.

Even McGonagall's gaze was less severe, but only slightly, although Rigel noticed that the woman seemed to want to tell him something.

At the moment, he ignored it, instead stuffing his stomach with Harry.

Harry, who hadn't been able to eat in the morning, was now starving. He'd gone the whole day without food and then had a close game, he just wanted more mouths to feed at that moment.

"Hey, Rigel, who was that girl who kissed you?" Seamus asked curiously, giving him a smile that made it clear he was there for gossip.

Most of the Gryffindors also turned down the conversation, clearly interested in that.

Rigel sighed. Last time, the Twins found out, but strangely they remained quiet, which was impressive. There were also others who saw Rigel with Calypso, but without direct confirmation, the rumors didn't spread.

What Rigel didn't know was that his young fans had nipped those rumors in the bud, they didn't want to believe any of it.

Now, Rigel simply shrugged, eating a piece of pudding as he spoke. - My fiancée.

The collective sound of heavy breathing followed, the eyes now fixed on Rigel had changed drastically, the little girls were furious, the older girls were full of gossip, and the boys were filled with envy.

The silence lasted only a moment, then confusion followed.

Rigel was forced to answer questions about his relationship, he tried to run away, but Fred and George set up camp next to him.

Enraged, Rigel used his ultimate spell.

-Lumus Maxima! - At that moment, a chorus of cries of pain followed as Rigel fled for his life, he quickly returned to his own room and hid in the coffin.

Overall, he was very pleased with the day, the game was fun, and using his ultimate spell like that always made him happy!

A day to remember, for sure.
